This product is just what I was in the market for. I need to be able to access email and the Internet (and occupy kids with games and videos sometimes) while on-the-go, and then transfer easily to my home computer. The 16GB is enough to hold what I may do while away from home, and still leave room for photos. One major disappointment that I experienced was that while in the hospital I was unable to stream a live class and participate in it, and therefore lost the participation points. I was still able to access my school's website for other work, however. I have five household Kindles now; I guess you could call us very loyal and long-term users (we have one of the first editions to access the Web).

This is the second Kindle Fire I bought for my husband. The charging port quit working on the first after a little over a year. This one is still working through 18 months. He is an avid reader and loves his Kindle Fire. He takes it everywhere and uses it every day. It's not only great for books, but he can check Facebook or get on the Internet. Internet acces is not as smooth as my iPad, but for his limited usage it works just fine. I bought one for my daughter a couple of years ago and then bought her a mini iPad last Christmas and with FaceTime and iMessaging she rarely uses her Kindle Fire anymore. So I guess it depends on what you're planning on using it for.

I bought this for my mom who loves to read, but had not made her way to an e-reader at the time. She loves it! Amazon Kindle store offers an amazing variety of books at great prices (many for free-which is probably what she loves most) and the actual Kindle product is light enough for her to hold in her hands without getting tired and a well enough size for her to sneak read during work. She uses it constantly so I know it has a great battery life and the wifi capability is strong when I've connected it to different hotspots for her. Again, great gift for the price. I gave it 3-stars of ease of use because I was there when she opened it and had to explain a lot of things for her. The setup and initial use does assume you already have a certain background with technology.

Excellent overall tablet, even for previous generation. Very easy to use, good weight, not too heavy. Although is doesn't have the screen quality of the new hdx, it is still very good. With its obvious ties to Amazon, it makes reading and shopping from the amazon store very seamless. Would recommend this tablet for beginner and intermediate tablet users.

Needed the camera, thousands of apps, games. Fast processor, discovering more uses each day. Who needs a computer?

I have purchased many of these tablets and they're absolutely great. Inexpensive, fast, and easy to use.

I love to read and this lets me read all my favorite books. The screen size is perfect.

I love the Kindle! I recommend it for anyone looking for an e-reader. It is wonderful for reading books, comics, magazines and you get the extra perks of being able to get online through wifi connections to play with your games and to use avaliable apps. Amazon has a great selection of apps. Plus you get your email and you can search the web. I love the camera option on the newer kindles, the current model I have only has the front facing camera, but I believe the newer versions have both front and rear facing. The price IMO is unbeatable for the quality.

My wife and l bought three of these for our kids for Christmas and the kindles were definitely their favorite gifts. We have been able to get them to read even more than normal as they are happy to do it if they can earn some game time on them. Our kids are 6,6,and 9 and all three have found the kindles to be very easy to use and they love the ability to download new books and games. Overall this is a great product and I would highly recommend the kindle to any parents looking for a new excuse to get their kids to read more and just have some fun!!!

This Previous Generation HD Kindle works great compared to other tablets at this price, fast and never freezes up or shuts down , apps down load fast, has a good camera on it for skype, Good quailty picture, can check e-mails instantly, games are clear with no hesition.Good sound for Music. Amazon has lots of free apps for this too.

Amazon Tablet great for reading, watching movies, or entertaining kids with games. Tablet does not have much storage space, so must save some files to the Amazon Cloud and remove from device when not in use. Has entertained kids on long car trips for hours.

I know this is the older version but I bought 2 and the kids love them. They give a lot of functionality and with the Prime membership provide a lot of content with good variety.

Great, low priced e-Reader to entertain the family. My kids can play games and reader e-Books checked out from their school and public library.

If you like reading, then this is the device for you. Its also great for watching movies/videos and browsing the internet.

My 8 yr old loves her tablet but it often freezes. The prices of the games and apps are very reasonable. I don't like how the lock screen lights up randomly and will stays on for hours if you don't notice it. Ultimately it runs the battery down and if it's on the charger then it never fully charges. So we just turn it completely off if she is not using it, problem solved! Other than that it's great!

I purchased this tablet as an intro tablet for my 8yo daughter. She absolutely loved it. If you have Amazon Prime you get free acess to a tone of stuff. Tablet has decent screen and tablet was able to surf, watch movies, etc, etc. Great value definetly the best android tablet out there

I would buy kindles for the price and quality. Can't beat it when compared to other higher priced options.
