Just what I needed
This product is just what I was in the market for. I need to be able to access email and the Internet (and occupy kids with games and videos sometimes) while on-the-go, and then transfer easily to my home computer. The 16GB is enough to hold what I may do while away from home, and still leave room for photos. One major disappointment that I experienced was that while in the hospital I was unable to stream a live class and participate in it, and therefore lost the participation points. I was still able to access my school's website for other work, however. I have five household Kindles now; I guess you could call us very loyal and long-term users (we have one of the first editions to access the Web).

Great for avid readers and limited internet usage
This is the second Kindle Fire I bought for my husband. The charging port quit working on the first after a little over a year. This one is still working through 18 months. He is an avid reader and loves his Kindle Fire. He takes it everywhere and uses it every day. It's not only great for books, but he can check Facebook or get on the Internet. Internet acces is not as smooth as my iPad, but for his limited usage it works just fine. I bought one for my daughter a couple of years ago and then bought her a mini iPad last Christmas and with FaceTime and iMessaging she rarely uses her Kindle Fire anymore. So I guess it depends on what you're planning on using it for.

Great gift for the Electronic Wary
I bought this for my mom who loves to read, but had not made her way to an e-reader at the time. She loves it! Amazon Kindle store offers an amazing variety of books at great prices (many for free-which is probably what she loves most) and the actual Kindle product is light enough for her to hold in her hands without getting tired and a well enough size for her to sneak read during work. She uses it constantly so I know it has a great battery life and the wifi capability is strong when I've connected it to different hotspots for her. Again, great gift for the price. I gave it 3-stars of ease of use because I was there when she opened it and had to explain a lot of things for her. The setup and initial use does assume you already have a certain background with technology.
