Gonna be honest here, I wont recommend the game as it is now. However, the gameplay is good but the story and content are lacking. They are already patching tons of bugs and I am having fun with the game because the loot is pretty good. But for those on the fence, wait a few months and see if the content gets better. Very similar launch to destiny 1.

Fun game, pure and simple. I enjoy the game and play it almost daily. Being able to fly is really cool. The combat mechanics are fun and work well with the 3rd person view. I like that each Javalin is completely different and has it's own unique abilities. Speaking of which, the abilities are lots of fun. It's just a joy dropping a massive lightening strike or cluster of missiles on an enemy. Anthem got a bad reputation at launch which I don't think was fair. Sure it a had a few bugs but a lot of games do at launch so this was nothing new and the issues weren't really that bad. The developers have been constantly fixing things so it keeps getting better. All I can say, is don't believe all the negative press about this game, try it for yourself.

If you've read anything about this game, you've probably written it off. Maybe @ $59.99 there's not enough gameplay at launch, but the game is now being discounted a bit; so, IMO, the value is there. The gameplay is actually very good. The ability to fly and hover make this game quite unique in how the maps are structured and how you can approach combat situations. Each of the four javelins feel and play significantly different from each other. The only thing holding me back from giving this game 5 stars is the lack of diverse content at release. Many free updates were planned, but they have been delayed -- hopefully not indefinitely. I really like this game. There just needs to be more off it.

I've been playing the game since release a couple of weeks ago, and so far it's really entertaining. The world is large, beautiful, and full of variety and flying around it may be the best part of the game. Combat is satisfying and varied enough to where it doesn't get old. I think the downsides are the lack of depth in the world. The public world events don't seem that large and the rewards for these are often disappointing. Also, the story, although pretty good, is short and somewhat predictable. The benefit to a game like this, and what I'm expecting, is that development of new content and updates will keep improving the experience and leveling this game out with its competitors.

It's ok. I wouldn't have paid full price for it but got it for $6.88 on clearance making it a good value. So if you are able to get it cheap then do os for the PVP combat.

Anthem isn't perfect. The graphics on xbox, not the X version, are not as good as the ps4 Pro. Maybe the xbox enhanced could be. I don't know. Aside from that, the game is fun. Flight adds a fun and new take on gaming, perspective, and exploration. Worth buying. Definitely has that Destiny feel.

I played the demo for this game and couldn't wait to install the full version, flying around in the mech suit is so good! A few bugs at the start but those are getting squashed

This is a fantastic game! There are a couple bugs here and there, but that was expected and the first patch really smoothed out the edges. Highly recommend!

I'm writing this review about a week after the game was released so HOPEFULLY if this is being read at a later time they have made improvements. The game has a ton of potential, but is hampered by a ton of bugs, unreliable servers, and lack of depth. Flight mechanics are on point, graphics are gorgeous, and the combat is lots of fun. But... enemies have laughably bad AI, missions are unforgivingly repetitive, and the loot is boring. Hopefully it will improve in time, but unless you have a bunch of friends urging you to play...wait until this gets some serious TLC.

The gameplay is very fun. The flying feels great and running through missions as a team is satisfying; however, there are bugs that need to be fixed and quality of life improvements that need to be made. Overall, it is a great game so far.

I've seen mixed reviews of this from game journalists, but as a fan of previous Bioware games like the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series, I'm having a lot of fun with this new IP from the studio. I'm traditionally a solo player and love RPGs, so I usually shy away from online multiplayer games, but Anthem has enough of the traditional Bioware flavor, while still being its own game, to keep me happy combined with fun gameplay and combat that have convinced me to fly my javelin out of my comfort zone and multiplayer missions. I really enjoy the game mechanics, especially the flying, and I've enjoyed exploring the world and talking to NPCs. I doubt any game will ever rise to the world and character-building heights of Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2, but Anthem is fun and I don't regret my purchase at all.

Yes, I am saying something positive about Anthem. If you go look up the game online you will only see people writing about disappointment and how there isn't anything to do in the game. I don't know about everyone who paid $60 for this game. I paid $11. For $11, there is quite a bit to do just playing through the story-line missions. Forget about the end game, who cares? This game is fun, plays well, looks great and has plenty to do for $10. If you can get this game for cheap, go for it. It's fun. (Plus, this game is a must buy for anyone that loves Ironman. You want to feel like Ironman flying around wrecking stuff..... this IS your game).

The game is a lot of fun so far. Its a little repetitive and lacks a bit in the loot category but so far is fun. Bioware seems to be listening to the community and is already making changes for the better.

When anthem debuted, it was definitely an ambitious take on an open world gaming experience. Now that the game has released and I have gotten to play it in its entirety, I feel as if the developer was given more time the game could have been truely great. This game has been “downgraded” visually and mechanically since it’s debut at E3 in 2017. On top of that, after completeing the game, there is practically no “end game” content that compels players to keep coming back. Hopefully that changes over time, but this seems to be the trend in this genre of game. Really the only one to get the formula right was Destiny 1. I’m worried this game will die just as quickly as it came to life. On a positive note the game is fun and plays great. It is gorgeous despite its downgrades and the physics are phenomenal. Worth buying if you want a fun game that will keep you semi-interested upon completing it at least for a short period of time. Would be awesome to see BioWare and Bungi team up and ditch activision and EA. These parent companies are really killing the gaming market.

The core Anthem gameplay is everything I hoped it would be. Playing out Iron Man fantasies whilst flying around tossing fireballs, lightning bolts and a hailstorm of lead is intensely fun and satisfying. Which makes it a little disappointing that some of the background systems, the narrative approach and the sheer amount of content can be so lacking. For a loot shooter it has more minimal build options and visual customization than it should. Endgame content is scarce and navigating the story environment (Fort Tarsis) is sluggish and a little boring. Luckily, all of that fades away when you hop in your javelin and fly around the world looking for a fight.

I have put 80 hours into this game so far. The gameplay is good and very fun. But there are problems with bugs, low loot drops, etc that if not fixed could ruin the game.

Some really awesome core gameplay ideas, unfortunately there's just not enough content to warrant a full game. Perhaps there will be more content added post launch.

Having a blast playing this game with friends and just going through the campaign. It does get a little repetitive and there are a number of glitches (some that have been fixed already) and other improvements that are needed (more armor would be ideal).

First impressions aren't bad. While there are a few issues that bug me about the game, the "let's all hate on it because EA published it" bandwagon hatemongering isn't entirely founded. gameplay, graphics and voice acting are quite good. Mission structure, loot drops and and load times need patching and updating. The core of the experience is rock solid but some tweaks are necessary to truly make it shine. If you're in the edge about the game, keep an eye out for news on updates and the free dlc Bioware promised to see if it's something you'll enjoy. 3/5 - good but not great. People aren't able to formulate their own opinion so they just regurgitate whatever the big hatemongers on YouTube spew. The game isn't even close to FAILURE OF THE MILLENNIA those people would have you believe, but it's probably not going to set the world on fire either in its current state.
