Great iPad - But Not Cheap

My first iPad was an iPad 2. I later got an iPad 4th gen through work to use in meetings. My interest in the platform, though, has been for my creative work. I use my iPads mostly for creating digital art and music. It was for this reason that I could justify this purchase. This tablet is more than I have spent on a computer in years. In fact, before I pulled the trigger I stopped and thought, I could get a pretty powerful desktop for this chunk of change. However, upon thinking further I was fine with this acquisition because of the apps I use on the platform to create my art and music. I started generating serious digital art and MIDI music on an Atari ST back in the '80s (before there were color Macintosh computers). Over the years I moved from the Atari to the PC and to the Mac. But upon acquiring my iPad 2, I realized that I had truly found my artistic tool of choice. I found a couple dozen apps that allowed me to create fractals and layer them with digital photography and filter them until the became what I was seeing in my mind. And this series of tools became second nature to me in a way that Photoshop, Illustrator, and their plug-ins never did. Don't get me wrong - The Adobe Creative Suite is still my go-to toolset for design and layout. However, for my personal fine art work, the iPad is so much more comfortable to me. It's a more personal and intimate palette upon which I can work. With this in mind, the power of the new iPad Pro 9.7 combined with the flexibility of the Apple Pencil became a no-brainer. I had to save for a while and pull a number of favors to afford it, but I hope to be using this for many years to come. If you're curious about my art, Google "Ted Stahl Creative." I have a Facebook and a Bandcamp page for my art and music and you'll be able to see some of what I have done within the iOS environment. On a final note, I wish to highlight two things: 1) The reason that I didn't give this a 5-star rating was because it was so expensive and that Apple still requires you to pay up-front for the storage you will need. They will probably never offer an SD card option for expansion. 2) As you evaluate whether or not this tablet (or iOS in general) is your solution, you should always look at the software (aka apps on this platform). Your hardware purchase should be dictated by what you intend to do with that hardware and the software available for it will either prove it's usefulness or confirm that it's lacking what you need. I would never say that iOS is better than Windows, OSX, Linux, or Android. Only you can decide if a platform has the tools you need to achieve your intended goals. Granted, there are always new products on the horizon, but you should make your decision based on what something can do NOW. Too many promises are not kept in the technology world. I hope this is useful for some of you who read it. Peace.

Had and excellent purchasing and notification experience with Best Buy. Product arrived on time, and I have been in "AWE"... ever since I opened, set up, and began experiencing the new iPad Pro 9.7. Screen is just glorious, and all features work very smoothly, and now there is just not enough time to explore more quickly enough... I world recommend this for professional, technical, and personal use... iPad Pro 9.7 from Best Buy is a WINNER!!!!

I like the pictures taken with the camera, the movement adds a fun Harry Potter experience. I bought the large memory capacity so I could download my pictures from my cameras, that is really nice - it sorts them in albums and catogories so you can find any thing you want later. Picture quality is great. It is light weight easy to use. Good size for viewing and portable to take on vacations for movie watching and books to read or music, a complete fun factory. Easily pairs with wifi and blue tooth.

Ever since the iPad debuted in 2010, I have wanted one of my own. I have tried the first generation iPad and at the time I loved it. Years later I tried my wife's iPad Mini second generation and enjoyed all of the updated features, but felt it was a bit small for a tablet. So once I heard there was an iPad that was created to utilize a pencil stylus that responded like a real pencil I knew I had to have it! Originally there was only the 12.9" model, which looked impressive but seemed rather big. So once the 9.7" variant was released in March, I knew it was the iPad for me. After purchasing this iPad and the Apple Pencil, I have been real impressed with both. The tablet is surprisingly light and is very responsive. The App Store still has the best collection of apps for any tablet and iOS is just as reliable and user friendly as I remembered from past iPhone and iPad experiences. One amazing feature are the speakers! I haven't heard better sound quality from any other tablet or phone than I have on the iPad Pro and the display is gorgeous with great backlighting and detail of colors. If I had any complaints at all they would be that there's no 3D Touch like with iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, 7, or 7 Plus, and that compared to the 12.9" variant it only has 2 GB of RAM. But both of these complaints definitely do not hinder the overall satisfaction and experience with this iPad. If you are looking for an amazing tablet, look no further than the iPad Pro 9.7" variant!

While I have been using an iPad since the first iteration was released years ago, this is the first version that really encompassed features that made this purchase so gratifying. To begin, I did have a 12.9" iPad Pro before purchasing this 9.7" iPad Pro. The 12.9" was entirely much too large for use as a tablet. When traveling or reading at home, the 12.9" was cumbersome and, with an attached keyboard, was actually heavier and larger than the MacBook I was using. I had an iPad Mini as well, but it seemed just a little too small. The 9.7" was a perfect size, and with its new features, provided built-in charging for the Smart Keyboard, allowed me to use the Apple Pencil, and also increased the memory to 256 GB (the previous 128 GB versions were just too small and I used up that space very quickly). Even with the Smart Keyboard attached, the iPad Pro is very portable, light, and comfortable to hold and use. The Apple Pencil works great with it as well. I also like the ambient lighting feature (or whatever Apple is calling it) that adjusts the temperature of the color of the display to match the ambient lighting. The effect is subtle, but very noticeable if the device is compared with another one that does not include the feature. As much as I love my 9.7" iPad Pro, it is still not a laptop killer for me as iOS precludes me from using many of the applications I am used to working with on my Mac. It is still great for traveling or taking into meetings for tasks such as email, taking notes, and even working with word processing documents (like Pages and Word). I also use it extensively for providing presentations through either AirPlay or by a VGA or HDMI adapter. Until this version of the iPad came out, I used to have Microsoft Surface Pro envy, but not anymore.

I am impressed with the fast speed the ipro exhibits and the weight is very lite. The ability to make two screens is very effective. The capacity of storage of 256 giga bites will be quite substantial. I use it at home and my meeting place which I attend twice a week.

I tend to update my iPads every 2 years and did so this year. I have gone from the original iPad, to variants of the mini, and now to this. I mostly use my iPad to entertain me during my commute on the train and when traveling. Because I use it for daily trips, I need a lot of memory for all my videos and found that 128 GB was actually not enough so I had to bump up to 256 GB. Though the form factor, weight etc is not a noticeable change from the iPad air 2, the speed, screen, and storage are huge improvements. I also bought the apple pencil and it is fantastic! the quick charge is a great feature and it is very accurate. Very happy overall with my purchase.

Good IPAD. I like the added space, the speed and the detail. The IPAD is a great physical size also, perfect for overseas flights. The graphics are great and the camera is outstanding. My only comment is it is very pricey.

I own the iPad Air 2 and was looking at the the iPad Pro, after reviewing all of the features, camera, processor, weight and size I decided to purchase the pro and am glad I did, it is faster lighter and has great camera. I purchased the 256G since I save a lot of movies on my iPad for travel.

Everything about this is just amazing. First, the camera is amazing with picture quality in it's great form. This Ipad has a camera flash that helps with all types of pictures. It runs fast and the quality of the tablet is well made. I got the 256 GB to have more movies on it when I am flying and it helps. This is the Pro so it does have other cool features with it's pen.

I love music... no secret to my family.... but when I played a movie... i was just blown away at how good it sounded with four speakers working together like a mini 5.1 stereo system with a crystal clear image.. Truly a mini theater in one's left or right hand.. I do love the new IOS and the split screen feature is a must but not all apps will give you this ability as of yet... and the added wireless speed of this model especially pair with the correct wireless router is very fast... but for the most part it is just another ipad... with 256G of memory.. this was a must have as I have always maxed out my 128G ipads faster processing? sure it feels faster then my IPAD 4th genaration Durable, yet light as you would imagine it to be.... not so big like the first generation IPAD PRO..that i felt was to large. same size as my IPAD air 2,,, just they way I like it..

My wife has had an iPad Air for years. This is a woman that has most of her family and friends out of the country. She is not tech savvy but lives on messenger. Bought this for her as she had been helping with a sick family member of mine for last two years and wanted to thank her. At first she said there was no reason to change. I told her to give it a shot. She is addicted. Talk about increased speed and clarity. This tablet is perfect for her. Easy to use and the features are all great. I didn't get her the 12.9" thinking it would be too large and was right. She likes to take her iPads on vacation for the camera and this size and upgraded cameras are spot on. Highly recommend.

I've been wanting a new iPad for awhile now. I have an old iPad 2 that is very slow and frustrating to work with. The new 9.7 is terrific! It's fast and easy to use. I compared this to the larger size but found the larger one too big n bulky. This 9.7 is easy to hold with fast performance and lightweight. Perfect for what I need. I especially like the ability to sinc easily with my iPhone 6. I bought it at Best Buy because I like the option to go to the Geek Squad for any help I might need with any of my tech equipment.

This was my first iPad purchase and I am very impressed with the beautiful detail and clarity of the screen colors. I've never seen any tablet with such vivid color and it is very easy to use right out of the box. I have also found the sound of music on the iPad Pro is very good for a tablet, and am also enjoying being able to draw or write directly within several apps I've downloaded. Really cool tablet that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to get a new tablet.

I had preordered my first iPad before we knew what they were. My second iPads were the mini iPads and we had not replaced any until th model. Our big original iPad was no longer usable so I bought this as replacement. I can't say enough about all the improvements. It is pretty, lightweight, fast, the graphics are amazing, and we love the way the display senses the light and adjusts to be easier on t eyes. I really can't say enough how muc muc enjoy th iPad.

Am glad I decided to buy this iPad Pro 9.7" just after buying the disappointing iPad Pro 12" complete with keyboard and pencil. It is really the successor of the iPad Air - I have both the 1 & 2 - so it is light enough for me to use it. The screen resolution is super sharp. Camera is also great. Processing speed is fast that I get impatient now with my earlier Apple devices. I wish Apple will upgrade the iPadmini so I will have a handier unit.
