I had two of the original HomePods. They were used independently and sounded amazing by themselves and still do to this day. When I purchased the Gen 2, I was quite disappointed as they didn't sound as good to me. While the engineers addressed peoples' complaints that the high end of the spectrum...they did it at the cost of the middle-end tones in Gen 2. I took a gamble and decided to buy a second Gen 2 HomePod and it changed EVERYTHING. Honestly, when I paired them both as a stereo pair...OMG...They sound AMAZING! Like gamechanger amazing. Well worth the money for a high-end desk setup or a bedroom TV when connected to an AppleTV 4K. That said, I don't think they sound good enough to replace a full soundbar setup for the main TV. Overall, as an Apple ecosystem person, these speakers do what Apple does best...they just work and they create an amazing Apple experience. Now, if Apple can improve Siri, we're all good. The bottom line: If your situation matches the scenarios I mentioned AND you are heavy in the Apple ecosystem AND you can afford two of them...buy this product.

We had unrealistically high expectations for this item, as it was replacing a bunch of speakers and a sub for our home theater. Turns out it blew our expectations out of the water. The lonely pod turns your room into a movie theater! The bass is unbelievable. The sound clarity is amazing. Highly recommend this for home theater or for general music. Incredible sound!! Would recommend far and above anything Sonos produces.

Great sounding speakers if you're deeply in the Apple ecosystem. After months looking into getting a soundbar, I decided to get 2 HomePod to set up with my Apple TV. A little troublesome to get to them work at first. But once set up, they sound great. Using airplay via iPhone or MacBook is easy as well. I would recommend if you're deep in to Apple ecosystem.

I’ve tried different, smart speakers and I kept coming back to this one! It’s absolutely AMAZING sound and really takes music to a different experience! I have a first generation HomePod in my bedroom and we are using the second generation HomePod for our living room set up! I think a HomePod paired up to an Apple TV 4K is just about the perfect set up! We just have it paired up with one speaker!

Great sound presence. Much improved resonance over the mini (mini is great for smaller rooms) as this embodies the entire range covering a large footprint

For a speaker that fits in a backpack, the low-end is physical. You can feel the vibration from the dual passive radiators on the ends.

Remarkably good full dynamic range and excellent bass even at low volumes with music. I was pleasantly surprised as just how good the spatial audio and lossless, high res, and Dolby compatible use is when available on Apple streaming. There is a reduce bass function you can use at times. I sometimes use it with the television. Excellent speakers

I now have 3 HomePods Gen 2 in my house and they are incredible for what they are. If you are in the Apple ecosystem and want something that has incredible sound in a nice-looking package, these are for you. Yes, the price is not cheap, especially if you pair them for use with your Apple TV, which I did. However, you do get incredible sound that will make you wonder how they do it without a dedicated sub. If you like Apple products, you won't be disappointed with these, especially if you pair them. They truly fill the room. The only downsides I have found so far is that you can't change the EQ on them and they won't work with something you need to plug in, such as a turntable. I've found that the auto EQ works for almost everything I have used it for, including music and movies. For my money, they are as good or better than a Sonos or other soundbars, but maybe not as much as as more expensive systems dedicated for Atmos. But at that level, you're spending a lot more and getting something that doesn't look nearly as unobtrusive.

Great quality but the HomeKit software would not connect to my existing home automation devices, which are HomeKit compatible. Over time I think this will becoming a more stable home automation platform, at the time of this purchase it was not.

The HomePod is the perfect smart home speaker for apple users, it seamlessly connects with your devices and has amazing sound quality along with a bunch of other features. It makes working from home great since I can get great sound without headphones.

Excellent sound quality, headaches in Spotify

I picked up two of these for our homes since I was struggling with Google audio nest speakers. Since we’re largely an Apple ecosystem, I figured it would work pretty well. Problem is we don’t use Apple Music. We use a family plan with Spotify. Apple doesn’t allow for groupings of speakers, which was annoying. The other issue was that because my wife and I both have a different iCloud account getting both of our iPhones to work somewhat more seamlessly within. Spotify was problematic. In the end, I discovered that my recently updated TP – link mesh system just didn’t work well with speakers generally. I switched to Eero after doing some research. Things worked much better, but I still experienced to glitches with the Apple HomePods. I still had my Google nest set up and so I reinstall that. Far better integration with Spotify. Yes, sound quality not quite as good but at this point, the slight improvement and sound quality isn’t worth the additional headaches. I’m going back to Google nest. Cimpl immediate integration within Spotify. I can use the Google Home app to create speaker groups but once I’ve done that they’re automatically recognized in Spotify and I don’t have to open the app anymore to do anything, unless I want to try and control volume uniquely within each speaker in a speaker group. The last question on here is a bit tricky. Would I recommend these? If you’re running a fully pure apple set up using Apple Music then yeah they’re probably decent though. You still can’t punch them together into specific groups, which is a really nice feature and something Apple needs to add. If you’re using Spotify or some other music service and or you want the ability to Bluetooth to the speaker, I do not recommend this product.

I have had all Apple's HomePods and do believe this one (2nd Generation) is the best! It sounds very good w/ nice bass. Some may say the price is a bit high for such a speaker. However, being a 'Apple Home' it just makes sense to have HomePods vs something else.
