This iPad was gift to wife (63 yrs young, no experience with computer of any type). Since this is her first experience as computer user/owner, I will provide the product review. My expectation for the iPad was for my technically challenged spouse to play with it a couple hours, get frustrated then I would have a new toy. Unfortunately (for me), wifey has stolen my gift to her! She has found the iPad to be easy and fun to learn to use (e.g., is light and cool compared to my laptop). Operation of the touch screen and on-screen keyboard is intuitive and responsive (she hates my laptop keyboard and mouse). I observed her making some errors when trying to touch small controls (text input boxes and "buttons"). She has difficulty operating the volume control. Suggest checking this out at the store before purchase. I was concerned about the lack of a USB port. There is one "port" for charging. Given a cable, you can connect an SD memory card to this "port." Might be able to do other things. If attachments are important be sure to check this out. I also got her a stylus and Bluetooth keyboard... she has never used either ($120 wasted). Suggest holding off on such accessories until determine if really needed. As a lifelong Microsoft user I was concerned about the Apple iOS. The iOS is completely invisible. The user interface is intuitive and user friendly. Before purchasing, suggest browsing the iTunes store to see what you can do with the iPad and what that doing is gonna cost ya. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of utility software and educational apps.... dirt cheap. Concerning the iPad models: In my wife's case, the relatively low mass storage (16gb) will not be a concern, if she needs additional storage (photos etc.) we will use online storage (iCloud or other). In other words, keep the cloud in mind when evaluating your storage needs. I cannot tell the difference between the Retina display and the base display... paying extra for the Retina might have been a waste. I can't provide feedback on any differences in processing capability between the models. Concerning the buying experience at Best Buy, I did not find significant difference in price elsewhere. The iPad comes with ZERO hard copy or installed documentation. There are manuals available on the Apple website. I purchased a Geek Squad support option when I purchased a laptop 4 months ago. The Geek Squad support extended to the iPad. One attribute of this service is online how-to videos, I used the videos, quite helpful. I have also used the included telephone support, it was helpful. In summary, in our case the iPad is a good fit. The hardware cost more than some other tablets, but the software costs will certainly be lower.... also, it works great and the wife is happy. Only major negative comment is my wife won't let me play with it.

I finally splurged and got this iPad and I'm glad I did. Not only do I love it but my kids love it too. It is easy to access different apps and download quickly. I still have to figure out the different control settings so when the two year old is playing she can't change options I have set up. Originally bought the 16gb and had to exchange it for the 32gb for all the pictures/music/apps I have for it. Wish the sales rep would have talked me into the bigger one first since they were sold out of the black when I went back to exchange it but had a black otterbox case either way. Although there are different options out there that are cheaper, apple has never let me down. Be sure to get a good case for it just incase.

The iPad was easy to set up, and easy to use. My son enjoys the apps that he downloaded, and sometimes it's hard to get him off the tablet! We've only had it for a month or so, so we're both learning about its features and capabilities. The one drawback is that we've bumped up against the 16 GB limit, so I'm currently googling how to remove apps to create additional space.

Great product, the retina display is crisp and vivid. Inadvertently bought 16GB, wish it were 32GB; not enough space for the amount of apps, photos, etc. that I use, which I would expect to be a common complaint. Not compatible with Adobe Flashplayer is a drawback, and I prefer Microsoft Office products to those available from Apple.

The iPad Retina met high expectations, Performs well in all respects, beautiful display, lots of apps. Only downsides to me are the high price and the lack of removable storage.

Buy the 32gb version if you plan on installing numerous apps, or music. The storage is taken over quickly. The retina display is far better than the standard version. Camera works very well. No issues with current model so far.

Same as any other iPad except a lil better picture quality. The only thing I hate is that it doesn't have a slot for a jump drive and you have to pay for a yearly subscription in order to have actual Microsoft excel or word.

If you are buying an iPad for games go bigger on the storage. You can't add to it so keep that in mind when you buy. The product itself is fantastic and very easy to use I have purchased several of them for myself and family members.

This is a great product - but we only bought it because it was a second or "open box purchase". We are Apple people from the beginning 1978 - and the only beef with this is it needs a a speaker at both ends. The software is great and we bought it during iOS 7 and iOS 8 took some rearranging but Siri is way better! We bought the 16 GB so we would not wake up with a large iTunes bill from our 'tweener. Would recommend this product - but for a 'tweener" it will hopefully teach responsibility - as if it is damaged - - Santa ain't bringing a new one.

Love my new ipad - only wish i would have gotten the 32 GB. Everything is great with it and it takes pretty good pictures!

Easy to use but should have purchased 32G instead of 16.

It was a tough decision between this iPad (4th gen. with Retina display) and the iPad Air. The approx. $300 price difference was the deciding factor. Would be nice if this model was available in 32 GB or higher. When I purchased, 16 GB was the only option. The features are almost identical to iPad Air, except it is slightly heavier---not enough to warrant $300 more. Most buyers will be pleased with this model, unless you are a person that must have the newest product all the time.

We use this for many different things and it's easy to set up. $500 for a 16GB tablet with only WI-FI is quite expensive though.

I got the 16GB because I own a GoFlex Satellite drive, which would enable me to store all my large files on it. However, while that is practical for movies, it's not practical for music storage. You can't do playlists from the GoFlex. I traded it in for a 64GB, thanks to BestBuy's wonderful return policy. Other than that, it's everything I'd come to expect from the iPad. This is my second one (I owned a 1st generation) and I am very pleased with the upgrade.

I bought this 16 gb and filled it up in a week so I traded it in on the 64gb. I have never had a apple before but I love it. My next smartphone will be a iPhone .

iPads are great for searching the web and app usage but wish they had extra storage slots or USB ports to easily move or save data. But for what he wanted it is awesome. Apple does need to bring prices down in the market.

Overall the amazing product but if you had the cash i would buy the 32GB. I have lots of photos, songs, and videos.

After being a windows user my whole life, I find I miss not having a back button and storage is too limited

A friend had the 16 GB and said it was more than enough space so I got the 16 GB. I filled it quickly with a few movies and keynote and pages I need for work. Wish I would have gotten the 32GB instead.

its was good overall but it was pricey for the 16GB if only is was $100 less
