Awesome resolution and great size.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is small and compact and will do everything you need it to do. The only draw back is only having one port to charge and use for usb so if you want to charge the device and use a usb you will have to buy the adapter cable.

Cool
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went in to purchase a new iPad. I ended up with the new Macbook. It's a computer, runs MacOS which I find more useful than iOS. While this is not my main computer, it has become my Road Warrior. Love the weight and size. Powerful enough to run Aperture as well.

Fine Computer - Better Than Professional Reviews
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I almost did not buy the new 12" MacBook with retina display based on all the questionable issues raised by professional reviewers who often stated that the keyboard was unacceptable, the processor low-powered and the single USB-C port a serious liability. To qualify myself I have owned 13" and 15" MacBook Pros, 13" MacBook Airs and am transitioning from a late model 13" retina MacBook Pro to the New Macbook 12" now. I have used them all and tend to purchase the most upgraded machines possible directly from Apple. So it is with that negative preconception of the new 12" MacBook that I decided to venture to a BestBuy to look at one first hand before deciding whether to order and upgraded 1.3MHz model directly from Apple. If you do not want to read any more, the punchline is that I looked, tried, liked and much to my amazement left the store with one in hand (1.2MHz 512MB Space Grey model). It was the only one in stock which was a complete shock because the both the BestBuy and Apple websites indicated deliveries of late June to mid-July at the time of this purchase in late April. Kudos to the BestBuy purchaser who managed to actually procure some in-store stock of this hard-to-find item. I bought the 1.2MHz model instead of waiting months by ordering the 1.3MHz model from Apple because I found the 1.2MHz processor quite capable of meeting my computing needs. The details: Yes, the keyboard is very different due to its nearly flat design and very low level of travel. If you tend to type hard and pound the keys then you will definitely feel the difference in that it is more like tapping on the glass of an iPad than a traditional Apple keyboard. My experience is that after a few days of adjustment I have developed a lighter and thus somewhat faster typing technique. It is an adjustment but not necessarily a bad one. It is just different. My accuracy and speed in the end have not been compromised unlike so many of the reviews I read. But initially it was an odd feeling and something of an adjustment. But it works and works well. The new haptic engine in the track pad it great. It feels just like the old one, is smoother and able to be pressed evenly anywhere on the pad, and the new force press feature will become ever more present as a new gesture as apps adopt it. I like it very much. The single port may be a liability for some but I tend to work almost exclusively wirelessly and rarely plug in a monitor even when working in my home office where one is available. I am content to look at a relatively small retina screen on a laptop. The times that I do connect a peripheral device such as a drive, stick, or projector, I find it is no big deal to use an adapter cord which I carry as a matter of course in my computer bag every where I go. I did this of necessity already with the MacBook Air with its lack of HDMI and ethernet ports. So carrying one adapter for USB, external power, and HDMI is not big deal. 99% of the time I have no need for this anyway. The processor was perhaps my biggest concern stepping down from a top of the line 13" MacBook Pro. In practice there is definitely a noticeable speed difference in loading applications and images from the Mac Pro but that was to be expected. The reality of daily use is that the new MacBook with its M processor is quite capable of doing all of the daily computing tasks I throw at it without so much as a hiccup. My normal operating mode is to always have the following programs open and running on separate desktops: Mail (and NetExtender for VPN access) Safari (with 10-20 tabs open) Microsoft Office for Mac (Word and Excel) iTunes Calendar and/or Fantastical Parallels Windows 7 simultaneously running as a virtual machine in Parallels Quicken for Windows Messages Dropbox and OneDrive Finder with several tabs open iPhoto or Photos And a few other odds and ends Bottom line: The MacBook processor handles all of these apps simultaneously with no problems. Running Windows on the virtual machine is perhaps the greatest draw on resources and if I notice any slowdown at all I can close the virtual machine and everything runs quite fast. There is no doubt that running everything that I do is asking a lot of what is really a mobile processor but for the most part it does just fine. One area you will see a difference from other MacBook Airs and Pros and the New MacBook is in the speed with which it can render images and video. It does acceptably well but if you are coming from top of the line Mac Pros you will definitely notice a difference. However, in my judgement for such a highly portable device intended to for those of us who spend their lives on the road, this is a VERY capable computer packed into an incredibly small package. The retina screen as you would expect is stunning. The form factor near perfect. The battery life is acceptable though not nearly as good as a 13" MacBook Air yet better than my top of the line 13" MacBook Pro. I am certain that this concept will only get better as Apple comes out with newer versions in the years ahead. Improvements in battery technology and the ability to employ more powerful fanless processors and graphics will come with time and make this an even better product in the future. However, if you are looking for an ultra portable computer that is more than capable of handling most people's personal and professional computing needs this is definitely a winner in my book. You will not render heavy graphics or game on this machine. That is not its purpose. But if you travel all the time and need office and personal computing capability everywhere you go and have found the iPad wanting for some of these needs, this MacBook is for you. I am very pleased with my purchase and am glad that I did not just dismiss this MacBook based on all the reviews I had read. You may need to make some adjustments in your habits as they relate to peripherals and perhaps also your typing style, but overall this is a highly capable and ultra-portable computing solution that fits my needs almost perfectly. For the first time in years I am traveling without lugging my iPad (w/bluetooth keyboard) AND MacBook Pro around. The new MacBook seems to satisfy all my computing desires and my briefcase is much, much lighter. I would definitely recommend this to a friend but urge anyone contemplating buying one to actually go look at one in the store and try the keyboard for yourself. That seems to be the most subjective trait that polarizes opinion in favor or against the new MacBook. If you can adjust to the keyboard, get one. If not, don't waste your money. Cheers!

Super light, surprisingly powerful, & long battery
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop to replace my 15" 2010 macbook pro. This feels a little more powerful, so I'm not noticing any issues when I do stuff in photoshop. I was worried that I would miss the 15" screen, but the tiger DPI makes me love this display. Keyboard is very cool, it took me a day to get use to the short keyboard clicks. Trackpad, sound quality, and the OS make this a great laptop

Apple Macbook is Awesome
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new Apple Macbook is simply awesome. The full-size keyboard, force touchpad and now with OS X El Capitan, it is nearly a Macbook Pro replacement. Once more adaptors are available, I may be able to use it exclusively. Still unable to connect to my Apple Cinema Display, which is its only downside.

Ultraportable with a superior trackpad
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I chose this beauty over the 13" Macbook Air and I'm so happy that I did. In short, the screen bezel is much thinner, it's lighter, and the Force Touch trackpad is awesome!
