Opened the box a found a genuine OEM adapter; white, two ends as indicated on the exterior of the box. Inserted the Mini Display end into the matching OEM MacBook. It fit quite nicely. Then very carefully attempted the VGA connection to our dated computer monitor cable. It also fit very well. Then turned the power on to both the MacBook AND the monitor. The electrical video signal was then transferred from the MacBook to the monitor and and displayed the expected wallpaper image. Success. I would recommend this to any novice or expert. For the most part, any apple adaptor that you get for your Apple products is better than the same item made by another company. They are always more expensive but the value is worth the cost. Seems silly to provide a pix but hey, its all about plug and play!

Setting up my extra monitor was so easy it was simply a plug in. Every time ive used multiple displays on my pc there is always extra steps. Honestly I plugged this in and my monitor was already working...no extra steps. If you want an extra monitor for your iMac it’s worth it without a doubt.

Is purchased this product to hook up my Mac Mini computer to a 24"monitor. It is easy to use and is simply a plug and play. My monitor is not a Mac monitor; it is a Samsung, and old monitor I have had for a while. It works well and the picture is awesome. Some of that is due to the fact the cable connection is so good.

I purchased one of these a few months ago. I gave it away to a relative and got another adapter, just not the Apple brand. That was a mistake. Other adapters do not necessarily work well with different monitor's resolutions. I went back to the store, got me an Apple adapter, and resolution issues are gone.

This was exactly the missing piece between hooking up my macbook to the projector on campus. This little device is a life saver if you are doing lots of presentations and rely on your macbook heavily. I would strongly recommend investing in one of these.

Product works great with my 2010 MacBook pro. Needed it for a class presentation and had no problems. Go with the apple product even if it's more than the others, tried an insignia and had to return it back.

After going through numerous 'internet cheapies' that quickly started losing signal and degrading, I figured it was time to buy a genuine Apple VGA adapter. A couple months in now and no problems. It is true, you get what you pay for. After four cheap adapters from eBay and Amazon, I probably spent more than one from Apple which is much better made and works!

I bought a Mini Mac to use with my iPhone and iPad and as my Cloud drive. Having this adapter is awesome because it allows me to use the same monitor I already have and am using with my Windows computer. I now have 2 computers hooked to one monitor and this setup works great because I don't have to plug and unplug my monitor depending on which computer I want to use!
