Customers are saying

Customers admire the 15.6" Laptop for its budget-friendly price, lightweight design, and sufficient performance for basic tasks. While some users appreciate the extended battery life, others express concerns about the build quality, limited number of USB ports, and the learning curve associated with Windows 8.

Wonderful laptop! Easy to set up and I love the large, easy to see key board. I bought this for a first time computer user and installed a voice activated program on it. It has been an excellent purchase.

I bought this laptop for my 2 kids, ages 6 and 8. I wasn't expecting top of the line for $199.99 and thats how I feel about this laptop. I would consider this a good starter laptop. I have no major complaints in the week that it has been used. The performance is a little sluggish compared to my other laptop however this laptop only has 2 GB of RAM so that was expected. I have occasionally had issues moving the mouse. The touchpad just doesn't seem to respond well sometimes. I have not tried adjusting the settings yet. It is also a very light laptop. I haven't tried to play any games on it but I wouldn't expect this to be able to handle anything but facebook type games. This laptop would be fine for kids or for someone just wanting to get on the internet but probably not much more.

I did not expect a high end machine, but really did expect more. For the price, I won't complain but won't brag either. Built and feels cheap. Starts up quick put hesitates, lags, spits, sputters, and even freezes momentarily when asked to do a few simple to mid level tasks. New to Windows8 and not a fan, but won't blame the machine. Some issues seem to relate to the operating system but I think the processor and hardware leave a lot to be desired also. If I had to do over, I would spend a few more dollars and upgrade personally. I was always an AMD fan and I think this reinforces that. I know it is a low end processor but rated as being pretty fast. Using this to even watch videos seems to overload and tax it heavily.

Couldn't beat the price. 4 gigs of memory and 500 gb hard drive plus cd drive for importing CDs to iTunes is the same if not more than what most laptops out there are offering. The Intel celeron processor is a little slow/outdated technology but keeps the price down. Graphics and sound are pretty good. Would have expected to pay a lot more. Overall it was a great buy at BestBuy.

I bought this lap top because my old one had WindowsXP. My husband and I only need to check e-mails, facebook, make puchases online and online banking and this computer is good for that. It is slow compared to my old Dell and I added a mouse because I did not like the touchpad. The new operating system compared to my old dell is a little harder to use for us old folks but all in all it is a good computer for the price.

This laptop costed a measly $229.99 and it works just about like you'd expect for that price. Pros: It has a great big screen for watching movies and videos on. It has minimal components, so the battery lasts for a a good long time because the biggest draw on it is the screen. I love Asus keyboards, the way the keys have spaces between them and the part where my hand rests is rounded and comfortable, not like some other laptops I have had where that part was a sharp angle that gets uncomfortable after prolonged use. Cons: Only 2 USB ports, is slow and can't run most games, no onboard bluetooth, I had to buy a separate adapter for Bluetooth, and it uses one of the two USB ports.

This is a great starter computer. Bought for my 8 year old daughter for Christmas. Was very easy to set up and use. Windows 8 takes some getting use to but once you figure it out.

I purchased this laptop and a HP laptop with the same specs and for the same price. This one had a few shortcomings versus the HP. The battery is built in and I saw no way to easily remove or replace it. The plastic is very easy to mark up so I think over time it's going to really show wear. The laptop is fast enough for my purposes and apart from one problem with an update where it froze, has run trouble free. While I didn't like it quite as much as the HP model it is still an excellent value. Why spend hundreds more on a tablet that does less?

It performs a bit slow, but you get what you pay for. I you really only plan to browse the internet such as reading the news, this will be ok. The moment you start doing much more complicated than that, it starts to bog down. The biggest complaint is just the fact that it uses Window 8. It will take a bit to get use to it. I'm not sure why they decided to change it that much in the first place, but that is Microsoft for you.

    Decent Computer For The Money

We purchased this computer for our 8 year old daughter & overall it is a decent computer for the money. The keyboard was made a bit cheap & one of the keys pops off from time to time. The other draw back is that it came with Windows 8 which is just as bad as Vista was. The whole reason I chose this model was that it was a bit cheaper than the others & it has a DVD drive which is getting a bit harder to come by on a laptop. Overall this is a decent middle of the road laptop for use on minimal tasks.

Laptop is slim, feels sturdy, looks great. Processor is pretty slow compared to the Intel i7 but it gets the job done. It was a Christmas present for my 13 year old daughter. She uses it for normal web browsing and Microsoft products, no complaints from her. We got it on sale for $250 which I think the price is appropriate at, but $300 I might compare with other models to ensure the best bang for your buck.

This was bought as Christmas gift for a family member. From what I've seen, it seems to work fine. Unlike a lot of other computers in the same price range, this one does have an optical CD drive, which I feel is better to have than relying on downloading programs on the internet. We have not tried any DVD's on the machine, but will be in the future. This is a good computer for doing school projects, Word docs, etc. I wouldn't rely on it if you're an avid gamer that needs a fast processor.

my laptop works great. I got the product on time. it was a little slow but not too slow in some aspects after a few days but it's expected with the price. it's a good product for those on a budget and don't need a laptop for everything.

I bought and quickly returned a Toshiba in the same price range before purchasing my ASUS. It has been great for the price. Quickly boots, surfs the web with ease. The setup was a breeze. I had no experience with Windows 8, but I am finding it easy to learn on this unit as well as being able to work off the traditional desktop. I've used a 15' HDMI cable to the TV and it produced a great picture. This computer does have the DVD player/burner which is getting harder to find on the more economical laptops. I have nothing but praise for this computer so far.

My HP had crashed late last year and I'm in my final year of school so I needed a laptop that was affordable and would be reliable. This laptop had great ratings and reviews and I decided to make the jump. I had to use the store pickup which was great as well. The laptop has great sound, moves fast, has decent battery life and overall I'm very pleased. My first ASUS and so far so good.
