Overall, I have loved this router. Honestly, I just love Asus' routers in general. I love the options and tinkerability each one has. For example, I am using the WAN-aggregation feature along with my Netgear 1500V modem, and while not the norm, I will hit around 1200mbps while using the 2.5Gb LAN port to my 2.5Gb port on my DIY PC (Xfinity gig speed plan). Wireless speeds throughout my 5300sqft range from 450mbps-850mbps, depending on location and distance from the router of course. My in-network file transfer speeds about doubled, though still won't blow anyone away (I'm using wireless to LAN, so what can you expect). So, without a doubt, the performance aspects of this router befit it's God-awful $400+ price. A other neat features that I'm using include the built-in VPN (so I can access my server from afar), port forwarding (typical server stuff), 2.5Gb WAN or LAN port (I'm using it as a LAN port), the built-in AI Disk (SMB USB 3.0 for minor file transfers and backups), and the super-cool QOS software. All of this without even slowing the UI down a wink. This thing is seriously powerful! This will definitely be staying with me for a while--at least until Wireless 6E makes a real case for an upgrade. Cheers!

I had a D link AC3200 and it was awesome I could have 8 boys all gaming on their Xbox’s, My daughter would be in her room streaming and I would be in the living room streaming all of us at the same time with no lag. We did this for several years period early in 2019 I started noticing that we couldn’t connect are there when we would get buffering and it didn’t matter if I had no boys on the Xbox in the house and just me streaming in the living room. I made sure dealing for us updated went through with spectrum trying to fix things they finally came out. The guy told me it was my modem was bad. I bought a new modem and it still happened. They came out again they said my router was dead still had power but it wasn’t sending out signal properly. I bought this router. And I noticed it does the same thing sometimes not as often but sometimesSo my son took my D-Link back to San Angelo where he is stationed and it’s been working great for him on grande com. Both this router and the D-Link AC 3200 are exceptional routers but if you’re having problems look towards your Internet suppliers Oh the Dlink got better range

Blazing fast WIFI-6 and decent range. After close to a year it still runs perfectly with no hiccups. Super easy setup, by smartphone! Most other routers say they can be setup by phone, but I almost always end up having to connect a PC/Laptop with a wired connection to finish the setup. I 100% would buy another if we needed it and recommend it whole-heartedly.

This was the best router and good value. It was fast and it had good coverage without the need for repeaters. Firmware wasnt perfect, but most router firmware is terrible

We have a dead spot in one of our upstairs bedrooms. We also have a ton of smart devices, Lifx bulbs through out the whole house, Google Home Mini's in every room. We needed a router to keep up with all our devices. Our son is a Gamer who was getting lag when playing games like Fortnite and Call of Duty. We installed the Asus AX11000 and we no longer have dead spots in our home and my son said the games do not lag anymore. The range on this router is crazy. Our house is located on the corner of our neighborhood. I can literally walk to the other corner of our block and still get wifi coverage. Insane. This router is not cheap, but worth the money if you have heavy internet users in your home, and its future proof.

This is really more than I need, and I don't have any Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) devices, and haven't setup any other mesh AI routers/access points with it, but it has all that ready to go if you need all that. I'm coming from a top of the line Netgear Nighthawk, but the 2.4GHz network went out on it after 3 years, and it was out of warranty. So, Netgear lost me as a customer after that. Did a little research and decided to try this out instead of other brands. This thing is a fairly powerful computer, and with 8 antennae the signal range is amazing! I can even almost get 5GHz signal strong enough to use where I only got 2.4GHz signal with the old one. Easily connected all my devices and the setup software, and mobile app are really good. Again, probably more than I really need, but ready for adding mesh AI WiFi on the network, and WiFi 6 (ax) devices. Would not recommend for a 'beginner' or someone who isn't at least a little 'tech savvy', otherwise, highly recommended. Hopefully it lasts longer than the last top of the line one I had to justify the higher price (expecting to keep it for 4-6 years, so $450/48 months is less than 10 bucks a month, even less if it keeps working for more than 4 years).

I was able to replace the stock Spectrum router in about 5 minutes, thanks to the well-designed phone app. Performance-wise, this router is heads and shoulders above what we used to have... excellent speed and range. I highly recommend this router, not just for gamers!

Added this to a very large, 100 year old house, with walls made with metal wires and plaster. Finally the whole house gets constant steady connection. Used many different routers, this finally works. We have Comcast Gig connection. When connected via ethernet getting 940-960Mbps so happy. With wifi depending on 2g / 5g getting solid connection. The device does not get hot as I thought it would. and I turned off the led light on the top, but you can control that to your liking. It is big. so make sure you have space for it on your desk or wall. We paired this with the Motorola - 32 x 8 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem to get the best performance. Did not have any issue setting up. With the guide any one can do it, just make sure you have a computer with an ethernet port to make things easier. Wish it was cheaper, but having the best and only few Wifi 6 devices is what I paid for.

Moderna with satellites still might did better in big houses or old houses with obstructions. Overall, a big improvement over the AC5300! Longer range, faster speeds. But antenna positioning is important at longer distances. I only wish they stayed put where I want them. They aren't BAD but sometimes they fall down a bit. This is very worthwhile, especially if you use a VPN on the router itself!

To start off with let’s address the elephant in the room: it’s expensive. Now let’s be honest, if you’re buying this you either need it or want it and either way you understand this is one if the few wireless ax routers announced and will therefore cost a bit money. Installation went smoothly, antennas screwed in without a hitch, device powered on instantly (I think ASUS includes the same charger they use on their lower end laptops which is hilarious). Keep in mind that the wireless ax standard can conflict with certain devices until you update the driver, if the manufacturer hasn’t updated it yet you’ll have to turn off wireless ax (don’t worry you won’t sacrifice performance on your other devices). I have 25+ devices connected to our network around the clock, I have kids playing fortnite, overwatch, battlefield, streaming netflix/Hulu/YouTube, streaming multiple tv shows and movies over our home network off our media server, live dvr recordings via plex+hd homerun, and generic browsing and college homework. It takes all that without a problem and keeps chugging along, no decrease in network speed or ping. Our house has brick and concrete walls so I flashed dd-wrt on our old nighthawk r7000 and set that up as a repeater but I knew I’d be doing something like that before I even ordered this router. The gui is is heavy in the “gamer” look that the rest of the ROG products sport which really isn’t a surprise. I’m excited to see updates to the firmware as time goes on as that is what ASUS is known for, not that the current firmware is bad but I’d like to see what’s in store for us down the road (see other ASUS router reviews over time). If I had to come up with cons I’d go with the relative lack of Ethernet ports (compared to the previous rog router), and (I’m really nitpicking now) the copper finish would have looked better as red or an RGB option like the RGB ROG logo would have been outstanding.

This thing is amazing! It’s fast and very easy to setup. The range and signal strength is out of this world! Had the Netgear ax8. It sucked ! Never got any speeds above 400 mb on my 1 gig internet connection. This Asus router is a must buy!

A huge improvement over my previous router. It is very consistent and has good range through my 2600 sq ft house. I no longer need a range extender, so that is a huge bonus!!! This thing is solid and has a lot of great features, especially for gaming, prioritizing, etc. We have multiple PS4s, iPads, phones, TVs, and computers connected with no issues. It handles everything we throw at it without a hiccup - online gaming, streaming, etc. simultaneously on multiple devices. It's definitely a little pricey, so I was a little hesitant at first, but after nearly two months of use I will say it is worth the price. Even better if you find it on sale. I highly suggest updating the the firmware right away. It addresses issues that other reviewers have complained about and added updated wifi security to offer WPA3.

I've waited a while to write this review because I was having trouble deciding if I liked this router. I wish I had gone with say an Alien mesh vs this as my older Linksys EA9500 seemed to work better. Setup on the base level is stupid simple and maybe if I didn't have a large device # smarthome (50+ overall devices wireless and wired)it would have been fine, but it has been enough of a pain to get working properly that it is not worth the price of admission. I have been hoping that anyone has had the same experience as me feeling let down at first but made it work somehow so I can turn my opinion around. Pros: -well made, sturdy and beautiful (I like edgy styling) -high speed lan port -ai protection is a nice added layer of security -super high speeds for compatible devices -signal power at a distance is great Cons: -adaptive QOS dragged my speeds to a halt - no amount of deep dive tinkering made this work properly, deactivated. -aura RGB does not function as in the examples its just an on/off flashing, dimming color change led, just keep it one color. -constant smart home disconnect problems, namely with google homes and google wifi home theater. I had to modify a myriad of advanced settings and disable wifi 6 on my 2.4ghz completely to keep my googles and alexa and other housewide smart devices connected and visible on the network, no default settings worked well and the more i tinkered even if i mad no changes to the netweork the devices were on would cause the whole group to not like to respond. -only 4 ethernet ports: for this price 8 should be standard -ip reservations aren't the easiest to deal with compared to other routers I've owned.
