The gaming laptop is capable of playing every game I throw at it however some of the down side is the resolution is a bit awkward considering some of the games appear to be hard to see with how much it scales. My biggest complaint on the device is it will randomly crash on Me by restarting I wander if the bios has issues and I haven't tweaked anything but other that that it performs well interms of games at 60fps ultra settings and the RGB keyboard is nice

Great laptop and has been flawless since updating bios. Wife uses it for World of Warcraft and loves it. She has not run it on battery alone so i cant comment on that.

Verdict: The 16” ASUS ROG Strix G16 laptop is a fantastic gaming companion for home and travel. It’s designed for gaming performance and equipped to handle the most rigorous games. ASUS continues to impress! First impressions. The 16” screen looks large enough; I’ve had 17” and 15” screens. I think 16” is the sweet spot; it’s big enough, and still easily fits in my backpack. The hinges for the screen are fairly prominent, but I like it. I love the transparent keys, what a cool accent! The undercarriage looks awesome, and clearly it works since the laptop stays cool. Design. I love the dedicated M keys. Great for gaming, streaming, and video chat. The lighted keys and light bar can be customized for color and patterns. The light bar in the front of the laptop is so cool! Finally, you can customize the desktop background to shift colors along with the keys and light bar in the Aura settings. I love it! Performance. I was excited to play Elder Scrolls IV (Oblivion) for a few days on this laptop. I started with using just the laptop screen, 1920x1200 (WUXGA), averaging 130-150 FPS with perfectly smooth graphics and gameplay. Then, I connected a 27” ASUS 4K ROG Strix monitor. At 3840x2160 (4K) with V-Sync on, I was getting exactly 60 FPS, synched across both devices. With V-Sync off, I was getting around 100 FPS. Game play was fast, smooth, and no tearing. Integrated speakers are very capable and loud. The keyboard types well and the keypad is generous. Even on high-performance setting, the laptop stayed remarkably cool and pretty quiet relative to other machines I have used. Specs. This is a very compelling performance package. The AMD Ryzen 9 8000 is fast and powerful. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti can handle any and all graphic requirements from the latest games with a dedicated 12GB DDR7. 1TB of storage is fine for most people, but it’s probably not enough for serious gamers (Elder Scrolls IV alone was ~120GB); I plan to add another 1TB if there is an extra slot. 16GB of RAM is fine for the vast majority of daily uses, but 32GB would better match the rest of the specs on this computer to maximize heavy multitasking and gaming. Things I love: - Great performance package for almost any gaming and graphics need - Excellent processor and graphics card - 1TB SSD provides fast startup - I am very happy with the 16” screen; perfect for home and travel - Screen resolution is good (above HD, but not 4K) - Exceptional design that keeps the computer cool and delivers convenient features for gamers - Beautiful backlit keys and light bar, all coordinate by Aura - Armory Crate allows for customization of all game settings and lighting - Two-way AI noise cancellation for chat, video, and streaming! - Adequate number of ports Things I don’t love: - I wish it had more RAM. Considering the other specs, 32 GB of RAM would have made this machine perfect - I wish the three LEDs below the screen actually used the other adjacent lines, for example for the battery indicator to actually use all four bars to simulate battery level - The webcam does not have a privacy shutter - Webcam is not compatible with Windows Hello and there is no fingerprint reader (to my surprise) Overall, I am thrilled with this laptop. While I would change the few minor things above, these are all minor. I think 16” is optimal for both home (with external monitors or not) and for travel, and with the included specs, this is a great setup. I highly recommend ASUS in general, and this laptop specifically.

I got this laptop because I don't have space for a full desktop, and the specs are basically as great as a gaming desktop, especially with the RTX 5070 TI. It has a decent battery life when not gaming, and if you are gaming, it's best to plug it in anyway!

Honestly when I initially bought it I was awestruck. I’d never had anything this nice before and within 3 months it started giving me issues. It won't boot Arc Raiders anymore and just last week I was playing it fine. The issue started whenever I downloaded outer worlds 2 at the end of October. Crashed consistently on startup and ChatGPT and I were able to deduce that it was possibly the global illumination setting too high was conflicting with Nvideas and to turn down the in game and that irked. Also found that I had to have the laptop plugged in all the time or it wouldn't boot either - Now it has started crashing randomly during some gaming sessions such as RV there yet, Arc Raiders (Inconsistent crashes but more common into december), Downloaded the Little Nightmares enhanced edition and immediately after agreeing to the end user license agreement I am met with a screen informing me about not to turn off the system during saving and it crashes EVERY SINGE TIME. I ran through 16 hours (seriously no exaggeration here) of troubleshooting with my friend and no dice, not a single bit of headway. Actually we did get arc running again but that’s it. We deduced it to be a mechanical hardware defect but I just don't understand. Why could I get it to stop with Outer Worlds 2 but now it's just all over the place. I've also since done a complete factory reset. Of course now the laptop is always plugged in. GPU set to ultimate mode in Armory Crate, and fans set to turbo. Crashes for little nightmares still, crashes on boot for arc raiders now, crashes 10 minutes into rv there yet, crashes for LORT. It's basically a cool looking workstation now and I just bought it in July... Contacted Best Buy and they told me I was sol to contact the manufacturer since I didn’t get the geek squad protection. Then the manufacturer tells me to contact Geek Squad at Best Buy since they sold it. They are responsible for the warranty RMA process and exchange. Honestly just defeated at this point. This was my first nice purchase for myself as a birthday Christmas present for the hard work I’ve put in over the past few years and it’s just a paperweight. We’ll see how it goes as I have a scheduled appointment now with GeekSquad as when I called them back and told them that ASUS referred me to them they were so quick to assure me they’d fix everything. Yah we’ll see.

I am going to be dead honest the battery sucks but it is a gaming laptop so I don't mind it being bad. However, the internals are really good and it's worth the price tag in my opinion been loving it so far.

    Unstable Drivers and Hardware Defect

Overall a great laptop. It is built well and performs well. What led met to return the device was the following: 1. Trying to play a video while leaving a game running consistently led to the computer crashing. It would either black screen and become unresponsive, or reboot. Could be early drivers or software bugs. 2. The number of ROPs on the 5070 ti is incorrect. Instead of having 96 ROPs, two separate units I have encountered have 80 ROPs. Its a hardware defect that can't be fixed without an RMA or replacement. I highly recommend checking this with GPU-Z (or equivalent), as they will RMA the device. 3. Lots of BSODs before fully updating all drivers, bios, and software. Pretty standard stuff though. ASUS support was very helpful and issued an RMA, but decided to return instead. Would advise waiting for reviews or stability improvements before purchasing.

Great laptop for either gaming or school, only drawback is the battery life when you play, but if you are charging it you won’t have a problem, it also has a great ventilation system.

I'm a big gamer and love gaming life, always on the lookout for new gears that feed my gaming obsession. I own several gaming consoles, handhelds, a gaming PC, and laptops, so when I saw the Asus ROG Strix, it immediately caught my eye. I've been a fan of Asus for their reliability and reputation in the gaming space, especially with PCs and handhelds. I've used my ROG Ally for two years now, and this ROG Strix laptop perfectly complements it. The design is striking, with unique ROG design that has Asus’s fingerprint on it. One downside, though, is the lack of USB-C PD charging. Instead, it uses a standard power adapter, which feels outdated in 2025. The power brick is bulky and eats up a lot of space in my backpack. Even when I tried using my 300W PD charger, the laptop displayed a warning message asking me to use a faster power source. Another minor drawback is that the front-facing camera doesn't support Windows Hello for facial recognition. Still, the laptop packs impressive specs that justifies that. The front RGB light strip is stunning and adds a cool environment in dark. It syncs with the keyboard RGB and is fully customizable. In terms of performance, this machine is a beast. It features an AMD Ryzen 9 HX, 16GB of RAM, a 12GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, and a 1TB SSD. The inclusion of a MUX switch for the GPU is a nice touch, improving gaming performance and responsiveness. Cooling system is efficient, although the fans can get loud in performance mode. Thankfully, they do their job well, with heat being pushed out from the rear and side vents. In silent mode, like when I was streaming from Xbox Cloud, the fans were barely heard. The keyboard feels premium, with a satisfying click and solid base. Its top surface is well-designed, with the ROG word spelled out across the top, giving it a distinctive look. There are also plenty of one-click shortcuts for quick access to features. I/O ports are plenty, which is great. My other dislike is the screen brightness: while it has a 165Hz FHD panel, the brightness tops out at 300 nits, which makes it feel a bit dim even at full brightness. Overall, my experience has been excellent. The laptop delivers smooth, high-end performance, and the design is uniquely stylish and clearly made for gamers with sturdy hinges. Asus Armuory Crate is my best companion app that provides function customization, drivers update, and more.

ASUS Scores Again -- Best Gaming Laptops

My son starts high school soon, so my family decided it was time to upgrade the family computer. Quality and “future-proofing” is very important to us with computers, as we have purchased budget laptops that within a couple of years can’t keep up with the processing power/memory requirements. It becomes a frustrating process to determine how (and even if) I can upgrade the RAM to keep pace. So when it came to finding a computer, we decided that it made the most sense to get a laptop for portability, and we wanted something that contained a lot of power to satisfy gaming habits while also functioning as a hub for family activities. We got an ASUS TUF A16 for my son a couple of years ago, and we confirmed that it is better to get a high quality laptop that does not need to be replaced as often. We decided on the new ASUS ROG Strix G16 and it is outstanding! It has a 16" FHD 165Hz screen (it looks absolutely stunning), 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD all decked out with an Eclipse Gray color that just looks cool. But that’s just the opening act… The AMD Ryzen 9 HX paired with that RTX 5070 Ti is just ridiculous—every game has been run on the Best/Ultra settings. We have been playing a lot of Apex Legends and Marvel Rivals with epic and ultra style settings, which makes these games even cooler. There are several settings that we weren’t even aware of all of the different graphics that were available (even though we were playing on very high settings previously) – the games are just more fun when you can play them with all effects. So then we decided to see how good this machine really is – we opened numerous tabs and started running multiple streaming videos without a hiccup. We’re really excited to see what games will be coming in the future, as we should be set with this ASUS Strix G16 for a while. The fans aren’t too loud and keep everything cool (no noticeable overheating that has impacting play), but just make sure you bring the power brick (which is on the bigger side). While it’s a very good machine with good battery life, if you want to get the most out of it, you won’t want to use it in battery mode. While this machine is awesome, there is a bonus item that I wanted to mention, as we were not expecting it. While unboxing the first time, it was clear there was pride in the Strix G16 and the box was high quality cardboard – so when we quickly turned it on and saw that there was PULSATING LIGHTING at start up that made the entire unboxing experience perfect. It continues to add a cool factor that reminds me of the neon “underglow” on some cars. We’ve customized it so it pulses while gaming. Not necessarily functional, but a premium cool factor for the kids when their friends come over.
