Many appreciate its lightweight design and consider it a great value for the price. However, some users have noted concerns regarding its heat generation, battery life, and fan noise. Awesome Multi-Use Gaming Laptop

After searching extensively for a laptop in the mid tier gaming price range I settled up this laptop. First off its very stylish. Its a lot more understated than most gaming laptops, but I also use it also for work purposes so i find that a plus. The build seems solid, its an aluminum lid with a magnesium alloy body. Not a lot of give anywhere. The lid also opens VERY smoothly. The display is beautiful. Very bright, 240mhz refresh rate makes it look very smooth. Big fan of the 16:10 ratio for reading. The combo of the 4070 gpu and 13900H cpu is a winning one. This will play just about every game out there at 1600p max settings 60+fps. The 13900H cpu is about the best you'll find in a laptop outside of the beefier 13900HX, Its not as noisy as I expected it would be, although on turbo you will for sure notice the fans. Not as hot as some other gaming laptops I've used either. One con: The battery life isn't amazing, 5 hours maybe just doing web surfing, office programs, ect. But that's also not terrible I'll take it. Note: No number pad or Ethernet port on this laptop, so keep that in mind.

Despite buying in "open box" condition, the laptop arrived missing screws, with a broken hinge, and scuffed along the edges. I figured, cosmetics aside, it's probably fine. Wrong. Within 2 months, the laptop experienced severe thermal issues, idling at 80 degrees centigrade. After going through ASUS's insane RMA process (you have to have best buy submit the repair request on your behalf!) the laptop came back with a broken keyboard and even more scuffing than when it was shipped out.

    Incredible performance and build quality

Great value and excellent performance. I bought the configuration with the RTX 4070 because I felt that the 4080 and 4090 would be a waste since the max power the GPU could draw was 150 watts. You will not see any tangible benefits between a 4090 over a 4080. I just personally didn't feel the 4080 was necessary either. However, if you put a gun to my head, I would go with the 4080 over the 4090 every time. If you are incredibly wealthy, then go ahead and get the 4090 version. If you simply want the best possible configuration, than go with the 4090. If you want basically the exact same performance for a lot less money then go with the 4080 version, I play Destiny 2 a lot and easily run the game at max resolution with max settings and sit around the 100FPS mark most of the time. Keyboard feels great to type on and the build quality feels high end. Although it is a fingerprint magnet, so OCD people be prepared. The option to expand the amount of RAM is a nice touch since they didn't solder the ram directly onto the MOBO. My only gripe and its incredibly minor is the lack of touch screen. Sometimes when you are in bed with your laptop, having the option of using a touch screen is really convenient for lazy people. Battery life is pretty meh, but that's not gonna shock anyone. About five hours if you just stream and watch videos. If you are gaming while only using the battery, you better be a speed runner cause you will only get about one hour of battery life. Although I think that most people who are purchasing these kinds of laptops understand that you have to make certain sacrifices when the hardware is so power hungry. I owned the 2022 model of this laptop and I absolutely hated it. Ended up frying it when I tripped and spilled the entire Atlantic Ocean on it. It took a lot of convincing and research before I bit the bullet and bought the 2023 version. After five days of usage, I definitely feel like I made the right decision.

I've had a few gaming laptops over the years, including one of the original Zephyrus laptops a few years back. This is easily the best one I've had. Performance: The combo of the 13th gen Intel Core i9-13900H and nVidia RTX 4070 is excellent and handles all triple-A titles with ease. I've got games like CyberPunk 2077 running buttery smooth with high settings and ray tracing turned on. Baldur's Gate 3 runs with ease and most games play with either very high or high settings. Expandability: This is one of the easiest laptops to upgrade. I already invested in an additional 16GB RAM stick (it comes with a slot open) and I put in an additional 2TB Gen 4 NVME SSD drive for 3TB of storage. Getting into the system was simple and the upgrades took no more than 10 minutes. Display: The display is phenomenal. It's bright, the colors look accurate and the refresh rate is awesome. I do wish they would have gone with HD resolution, as the QHD works great for games but you may want to set your desktop resolution to 125 or 150%. YMMV. Sound: The built-in speakers are good but I wouldn't rely on them for an extended period of time. Cooling: The system has no issue keeping cool even during long gaming sessions. Even better, the fan noise is not bad at all. There's no coil whining and even though the fans can get loud, they overall tone is really good and not distracting at all. Ports: My only complaint is the lack of an ethernet port, but the WiFi is wicked fast. I've hooked up the Thunderbolt 4 port to a dock and have two 1440p monitors running in conjunction with my laptop screen. It works perfectly and other than the lack of ethernet, the ports are fine if mostly minimal. Overall: I love this laptop. It's a little beefy but it's easy enough to transport. It's built well and feels really solid. It handles games with ease and its easy to expand. I can't recommend this system enough.

10/10 Best Price to Performance Laptop on Market

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

TLDR: 10/10 would recommend; Just make sure to get the laptop on sale! Also at least upgrade it and add an additional 16gb of ram (or add 2x32gb), and another 1tb ssd will cost you less then $200. Best all rounder laptop for people want to school work, work, consume media, and game. Tho if you want to game, just prepared that it is load and the battery drain fast. Overall best price to performance laptop on the market. I personally bought this laptop for school/work as I'm a cybersecurity grad student and researcher. With the ram being upgradeable to 64GB it is perfect to run multiple VM. I would say for the price this is the best all-rounder laptop if you want it for work/productivity, gaming, entertainment. It is lightweight & slim compared to laptop with similar specs and most other gaming laptops. The only major downside is the battery, but it is enough for 6-8 hours if you only use it for work stuff, cmd, vms, web browsing, document etc. However, if you want to do any form of gaming, you will need it to be plugged in or the battery life will only last 2-3 hours and it will be loud asf! Zero noise issues when not gaming! Lastly, please wait for this laptop to go sale!! It only came out a few month ago and has already been on sale for multiple times. Retail price is $1999, and it commonly goes on sale for $1599, & $1699. Just wait a few weeks and buy it on sale. I also definitely recommend buying either an additional 16gb of ram, or upgrading all the way to 64 (2x32gb), as well as buying another ssd. Upgrading to 64gb and adding another 1tb NVMe SSD cost me roughly $200. If you get the laptop on sale, it will still cost less then the base retail price with the upgrade.

Upsides: Great Display! Good keyboard. Not too heavy. Fast! Not a lot of gaming bling. (for me that is an upside) Downsides: Runs a little hot. Fans are a little loud. Speakers are not that great (but who uses the built in speakers?) Battery life is not great but not awful either.

Great laptop, especially for the price. I have not had a game I can't run at ultra settings with respectable fps. As a bonus, it looks sleek and has a high quality build, does not have RGB everywhere. The only thing I didn't like about the laptop is it runs pretty hot, which is typical for any gaming laptop. A simple solution is using a laptop stand to elevate it and allow for more airflow, and maybe a small desktop blowing across the keyboard, which is what I currently do. Battery life isnt great, but I always use it plugged in anyways. For the price, can't ask for much more.

If you're buying a laptop you've already analyzed and compared the specs, so I'm just going to write about how this machine is to live with. I wanted a relatively light and portable laptop that I could still game with. I was comparing this with the newest MSI Stealth 16, forget the exact model number. The MSI model was about $500 more but thinner and lighter and supposedly cooler and quieter. Bestbuy wasn't going to have that one for another couple of weeks so I bought this Zephyrus. I will say the thickness is not an issue at all. If it looks a little chunky on first glance, its something you will not notice at all after about 5 minutes. For weight, well the MSI is about 1/2 pound less as I recall. Would be nice to have it that bit lighter, but once again not a big deal. Gaming experience has been great, I think the RTX 4070 is the sweetspot for portable gaming. For thermals and noise, it does have vents blowing up to the bottom of screen, but I'm assuming that's ok. If you resist the urge to stick your finger over the vent and feel the hot air, you'll never know it. During gaming its really quiet in performance mode, but keyboard gets toasty. Crank it to turbo and keyboard remains cool, but it does get a bit loud. Still, not unusually loud for a gaming machine. I read someone say they could hear it through their headphones and that's just simply not possible. I don't really know if the MSI is quieter at max settings, but I can say this machine is not bad at all. If you're in a graphically demanding game you will be wearing a headset and not notice any fan noise. The only real downsides to this machine are that it has only 2 USB A ports, and has crappy speakers/sound. The speakers truly suck. It's just annoying because they are using up a lot of real estate on both sides of the keyboard. If you're going to have such crap speakers then put them somewhere else and save that room for a numeric keypad. Overall I'm really happy with this machine and glad I bought it. The crap sound is about the only drawback worth mentioning and that's more just annoying than a serious issue.

This laptop benchmarks great. Performance is not an issue. It does get loud in turbo mode when running at peak performance. So headphones are necessary. It might be annoying for others in the room. I am shocked that it doesnt have media control buttons. So if you have music going while in-game you have to hit the windows button to change song. Battery life is sub par. Even when in silent mode. Maybe lasts an hour. But for games its great. The screen is nice even if this one doesn’t have the mini led. Keyboard keys and mouse clicks are satisfying.

I most recently upgraded from a 2021 Razer Blade 14 with a 3070. That was a solid laptop, but the 16:9 screen and rest were starting to slightly show their age. This laptop has a surprisingly bright screen (non mini-LED), a good keyboard, trackpad seems to work fine, and the software is good. It does have some of the not so great things, lots of heat, fan noise, etc. but that comes with the gaming laptop category. I've noticed that about 50% of the RAM is in use during idle windows tasks, so I wil update that to 32GB and I also plan to add a 2TB NVME. I have played a few games so far, and super smooth as expected. I had a Steam Deck for a while, which is great in some respects but I felt like I was giving up too much and went back to a laptop. No regrets so far, but I am sure my back will be a little more sore carrying this thing around. My only concern with the long term is the amount of heat that is kicked up on the screen, but Asus says that shouldn't be a problem. Fingers crossed!

Get ready to ditch the stationary life and game like a glorious nomad with the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16. This sleek beast isn't just a laptop; it's a portal to next-level gaming nirvana. So, ditch the drool and grab your shades, because this review is about to get scorching hot. Performance That Punches Like a Prizefighter: Imagine an Intel Core i9-13900H processor with 14 cores and 20 threads tag-teaming with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU. That's the kind of muscle this laptop packs. Games melt under its silicon gaze like butter on a barbeque. Whether you're slinging spells in Hogwarts Legacy or conquering demons in Doom Eternal, the Zephyrus M16 laughs in the face of lag. Visuals That Haunt Your Dreams: Feast your eyes on a 16-inch QHD display with a 240Hz refresh rate. It's a visual smorgasbord, painting games with colors so vivid and details so sharp, you'll swear you can smell the dragon's breath in Skyrim. And with Nebula HDR, prepare for mind-blowing contrast and brightness that'll make your retinas sing. Mobility Makes the Difference: Forget clunky desktop towers. The Zephyrus M16 weighs a mere 4.63 pounds, making it the ultimate backpack warrior. Toss it in your bag, and conquer dungeons from hotel lobbies, coffee shops, or even a mountain peak (because why not?). This laptop's got the juice to stay productive (or destructive) wherever you roam. Keyboard Kicker: The backlit keyboard is a gamer's dream. Keys are snappy and responsive, with per-key RGB lighting that dances to your every keystroke. It's like having a rave in your fingertips, and it just feels oh-so-satisfying. Battery Life That Doesn't Bail: Unlike most gaming laptops that guzzle power like dragons on tequila, the Zephyrus M16 sips it like a connoisseur. You can expect several hours of unplugged gaming or binge-watching before needing a refill. That's enough time to finish a raid or two, or maybe even an entire season of your favorite show. The Verdict: The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is more than just a gaming laptop; it's a statement. It's a declaration that you demand the best, and you won't settle for anything less. It's powerful, portable, and downright gorgeous. If you're a serious gamer (or just someone who appreciates quality), this is the machine for you. Just be prepared to answer a lot of envious stares. P.S. Did I mention the liquid metal cooling that keeps everything running smooth under pressure? Yeah, this laptop is the real deal. So, go forth and conquer, brave gamer. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 awaits. Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility... and an even greater laptop bill. But hey, you only live once, right? This is the best gaming laptop i’ve ever had. First of all, the design is incredible. Great for gaming, multitasking, and even work. It can handle a lot of things at once and honestly it works great, especially for gaming!! It downloads games fast, and loads in pretty quickly. Its graphics are better than my pc setup. The screen size is good for a gaming laptop, and the laptop is not even that heavy. You can carry it around easily and travel with it. In the pictures it shows the keyboard as just white color, but actually it’s RGB. The back design is smooth too. The trackpad is wide, and easy to use. One little issue with the trackpad is that sometimes during gaming when I click around the corners, it doesn’t work. However, that’s not really an issue for me since I will be using a mouse instead. Overall, this laptop is a steal!! Would definitely recommend :)

Pretty good price for solid performance. I wish there was an ethernet port, but it is what it is. The screen is gorgeous, the 13th gen i9 is a beast, the 16gb of DDR5 4800mhz ram is pretty fast and expandable to 64gb. The RTX 4070 is solid and the new 3 fan setup keeps things fairly cool. I'm happy with this laptop, it'll get the job done for years to come.

This is an excellent machine. It has a very good keyboard, a bright, color-accurate screen with small bezels, has plenty of ports, weighs less than 5 lbs., and is relatively slim. It also has a sleek, sophisticated yet subtle look that doesn't scream "GAMER!". I'm using this mostly for work and for that, it is a fantastic machine. For the occasional gaming I will do, it is perfect. Being that it's a slim laptop (with all that entails, i.e., heat, loud fans, relatively short battery life), I did not expect super high framerates at 4K. It will do very high FPS at 1080p in Ultra settings, and high FPS at 1440p at Med to Ultra depending on the title. If you're expecting to output to a 4K monitor for true 4K at high FPS, you need to go up to the GTX 4080 GPU. If you're getting this strictly for gaming, it is a tough sell at its original price with other similarly powered gaming laptops available for less. However, it is worth it if you're looking for an all-purpose or productivity/creator laptop as this one has a higher build quality/feel than those lower-cost machines which often only offer less bright 1080p screens and smaller 512gb SSDs. At it's sale price, however, it is an excellent buy for gaming and productivity alike.

I purchased this ROG in February of 2024. It is now July 2024. I buy a new gaming laptop and Macbook every single year for work/play. I have owned dozens and I have a good idea of what works and what doesn't. Pros: This laptop is pretty quick for it's size/how thin it is. It can play all the games that I want like "Escape from Tarkov", "Elden Ring", and just about anything else I have thrown at it on high-max settings at 60fps+. Depending on the game, you can get up to 240fps such as "Subnautica". It's got a great display on it. The speakers are nice quality. Not quite on par with a macbook pro, but they are VERY adequate. I Also enjoy the Armory Crate software and the hot keys (M keys) that you can customize for quick actions like muting the mic, opening software, etc... The fan profile button I find particularly useful for switching between power modes when gaming or browsing the web. You don't want your fans ramping up like a jet engine and turbo boosting your CPU when you're watching YouTube after all. I would say I have been mostly happy with it's performance and it's features. Cons: The screen on this laptop is VERY flimsy. You feel as though you have to be gentle when opening and closing it. God forbid you ever dropped this thing the screen would be done immediately. The noise and heat that this laptop produces are insane. They keep packing in more and more power into these thin frames and then you just end up getting thermal throttled back so much that you can't even fully benefit from your speed. (Check out undervolting online to help minimize this.) The fans are very small and they are prone to dust clogs. They put in a decent set of filters on the bottom intakes to help mitigate this but you need to keep these fans clear of debris and the filters as well. CONSTANTLY check these. Weekly or you will find your temps increasing and your speeds decreasing. Keeping these machines properly cooled and cleaned is so important. Finally I spotted a random bulge on the back of the screen near the left hinge. I have never dropped or damaged the laptop at all. There isn't a scratch on it. But something has started to bulge on the inside of the display. It has cause pressure to be put on the screen which create a slight discoloration just as if you were to press on it with your finger. I am really hoping that ASUS will fix this under warranty since I am meticulous with my laptops and this is most certainly a manufacturing error of some kind. But their customers service particularly involving warranty is notoriously terrible. So I guess we will see. Buy that geek squad insurance folks! Best Buy is great at fixing or replacing units. Companies always want to try and blame the customer to get out of fixing problems with their machines. It's BS that you pay this much money for something and companies don't want to honor their warranty. I will update this rating and add a star (making it 4) if Asus actually fulfills their warranty. Conclusion: Honestly it's hard for me to recommend this laptop. Asus needs to add more cooling and structural integrity to these gaming laptops. The people who are buying these to game on don't want to trade off their speed/cooling and they certainly don't want weak components like a flimsy screen. Lastly Asus needs to get it's warranty service under control. They are constantly denying people their warranty repairs and try sprinkling in charges for repairs that people didn't need or ask for.
