I never had any problems with the previous router, it just became outdated. I hope to have another long run without any issues. Easy to install and setup. I like the option to add the mesh, as my house is 3 floors.

Its a good unit that has a good amount of customization you can do to optimize things. The range isn’t amazing so be aware you may need to invest in a range extender.

Cool options like setting up a VPN on an SSID so my wife can watch her korean drama shows as if shes in Korea. I have 25 IOT and other devices hooked up to this thing and its performing like a beast. The only thing is that URL filtering doesnt work, and never has on any ASUS router I have ever owned. Not sure why.

I get consistantly faster speeds on this router (probably because this wing of the house has less devices) than my other 2 routers. Including my base router the ROG GT. Generally my iPhone is the only device to see the 7. But, even on the wiFi 5 its a solid performer.

I'd suggest updating before setting up net work because I had to re-set everything because of internet drops like many people describe. Going on 5 days with no issues. Seems the memory usage was at 80% and after complete factory reset it's at 65% which must help also.

My network speeds have jumped, but I'm constantly having strange issues with my devices. When I tried to use the VPN client feature, my RING device could never keep a connection, even though I didn't have it using the VPN.

Out of all the Asus routers I have purchased in the past, this one is the worst. router I have owned. It doesn't maintain connectivity & my VPN doesn't work properly. During setup, I had a difficult time getting Instant Guard setup on the app. The app would not detect that the router was connected for instant guard. It keep telling me I had a private IP address and I needed a public IP address and I needed to contact my ISP. When I wake up in the mornings, I noticed that the router was offline in the middle of the night and this affects my security alarm & cameras. This device stays offline from 1 to 3 hours. I will be returning this device and getting a new type of router.

Needed to re-network my home and upgraded to this beast. Works fantastic! I couldn't get it to set up with the app but the Rep was fast and on point and I've had no issues at all since I did the upgrade!
