This is the first laptop that I have purchased in a while and actually the first one that I have technically purchased for myself. In the past, have built my own desktops and am used to using my company's Dell and Macbooks for mostly work and some personal use. HP was the main brand that I have purchased for my family members but, as I have used ASUS components in my past desktop builds, I thought I would take a chance on this laptop given it's specs. Very impressed with this system. It's very powerful and robust. Although, it's not really a gaming laptop, I wanted to see what this thing could do. Ran through Titanfall 2's campaign and this system handled it pretty well with little to no slowdown. But, connected a keyboard and mouse for ease of use while playing. Going to try to run some other games on it to put it to further put it to the test. I am hoping for this system to last me for many years to come.

I couldn't have asked for a better laptop. The screen is massive, the silver metal is cool to the touch and appears both professional and aesthetic. The camera quality is insane compared to my last ASUS, and the sound quality is out of this world! I mainly use my ASUS VivoBook for internet browsing, YouTube streaming, writing, and playing the Sims 4. It takes everything I ask of it in stride. Tl;dr: I love this laptop! (My roommate is going to buy the same laptop.)

After doing due diligence to replace my VERY OLD laptop, I decided to go with the Asus VivoBook [17.3] Laptop and I LOVE it... It's fast with enough storage to handle a GENERAL workload. I have seen complaints about the silver keys on a silver keyboard, but it's not a problem with me. Especially, if you are already familiar with the keypad... I was able to purchase it at a sale price and thus far have NO regrets.

I really like the performance of this computer but the keyboard has silver background with light grey keyboard letters and there always seems to have a glare making it hard for me to them and therefore making me hit the correct keys. The geek squad thought it had lighted letters on the keys when I picked up the computer but it did not have them.

I didn't realize it doesn't have a hookup for a network cable of which i needed to hook up my wifi AP. Thank goodness I still gave my old laptop to accomplish it. Not sure what to do in the future if my old laptop dies. I also didnt realize there was no cd drive which i also still use. I could have lived with the cd player but when my wifi died there is no getting around that missing in this laptop. Other than that I kinda wish I opted for the backlit keyboard. That one is on me totally. Otherwise I really like the speed and graphics and all on it

Cracked monitor less than 7 months from purchase

Less than 7 Months after purchase the Monitor broke. Like the glass behind the monitor that I didn't know was even there. Used the laptop, shut it down and closed the screen. Opened a few minutes later and it is cracked. I dusted the laptop and monitor but could not find anything that could have caused the crack. In a very odd spot towards the bottom left of the screen. Appears possibly the connecting latch gave way somehow and caused a stress crack. Very odd. Best Buy can not assist me. Don't plan to purchase from them or from ASUS again. I will update if the Asus Vivobook gets repaired.

This is a great deal if you wait and get the $200 off. You cannot beat this laptop @ $599. It's fast. Plenty of memory. I was worried about the reviews saying it had a dull screen. I don't game. But, I create digital artwork which consumes a lot of resources and needs a good screen. I think this screen is great. I had to turn the brightness down. It's very fast w/ my digital painting programs. G.I.M.P. loads up in seconds. So, it has exceeded all my expectations. If you need more storage, just buy an external hard drive. Remember, the 1tb hard drives that come w/ cheaper laptops are probably cheap and slow. If you are on the fence with this laptop...I say it is a GREAT deal. P.S. ( If you are worried about the grey lettering on silver keys ((really stupid design ASUS... what the heck were you thinking?)), buy a laptop holder to hold it at an angle and it solves the problem. If you have to use it flat...it sucks..could be a deal breaker.)

Great computer! A few drawbacks, however. I lover the screen size, aesthetics and function of this PC. It is very fast and user friendly most of the time. I had difficulty, however trying to set up Chrome and my gmail. The computer is geared towards Microsoft, of course, so it guides you towards Microsoft Edge for a browser which does not work with a lot of applications I use. The keyboard is a little difficult as well. The number row is slight offset compared to most keyboard layouts and the silver letters on the silver keys make it difficult to read the keyboard. I do wish the the Micro SD port was a multi-card reader or at least an SD card reader. This was insignificant, however, as an adapter is easily obtained and usually cost less than $10. Battery life is respectable, but I would like to see a little more life. I would definitely make this purchase again and would have no problems recommending it.

Impressive specs with a unusable keyboard

Overall I found this to be a great computer with very impressive specs. In fact my first reaction was that this was a lot of computer for the price. Both the processor and 12GB of ram made it run smoothly and fast. The large screen combined with the AMD graphics was beautiful. However if you are like me and need to see the keys when you type those impressive specs are for the most part useless. When standing up and looking down at the keyboard in a brightly lit showroom you don’t notice this computers very significant flaw. When you get it home and are looking at the keyboard in a more natural setting that major flaw is quickly noticed. How the silver letters on silver keys on this keyboard made it to market baffles me. If you are a person that needs to see the keys to type this computer becomes frustratingly difficult to use. Unless the computer is at a perfect angle in a brightly lit room you can’t see the keys. Those impressive specs become useless very fast when you can’t see the keyboard letters. If you plan to use it standing up looking down at it or can type without seeing the keys this would be a great computer for the price. But if you are like me and plan to sit while you type I would definitely think twice about purchasing it. I tried for a week to make it work for me, but in the end I was unsuccessful and the keyboard was a deal breaker and I returned it.

Great Overall - Just not the right fit for me

I was in need to upgrade my laptop and the Best Buy associate suggested this one for me based on the work I was going to be doing and the specs. I've only ever used 15.6" laptops, so I was definitely hesitant about the size of it, but quickly fell in love with the large screen as I began to do Zoom calls, graphic design, and photo editing. Some drawbacks are definitely the lack of a backlit keyboard, as it can be difficult to clearly see the letters and numbers on the keyboard. Overall, it is an excellent laptop and quite the upgrade from my previous laptop, but it just isn't the right fit for me. As a student and teacher, I am constantly needed to bring my laptop with me and although I love the size of the screen, it just isn't practical for when I need to be transporting it around from work, to home, to coffee shops, and school. If you don't plan to be transporting it around or don't care much about the size or weight of the laptop, this could absolutely be the perfect fit for you!

This is a great laptop for a great price. I needed it to do schoolwork and play The Sims 4, and it performs very well for both. It is a great size. I was a little disappointed with the keyboard. The keys and the letters are very similar in color and so they're very hard to see when typing. Also, within 3 hours of using it, the paint rubbed off from touching the wall behind my desk. It definitely feels cheap. Overall, I really like this laptop, and it's what's on the inside that counts!

I bought this laptop for my daughter for remote learning with its large screen. The keyboard has a nice touch and the processor is fast. My only suggestion is that ASUS either backlight the keyboard or make the letters on the keys black so that they can be seen easier.

The processor and specs on this computer are great. The AMD processor is really fast and the computer is responsive. However, the keyboard on this computer is TERRIBLE. The keys are gray text on a silver key and have too much glare to see in low light. In all but the brightest light, the letters seemingly disappear. If you're going to use this with an external keyboard, then I'd say you're fine, but if you will be using it indoors in low light, I'd say try to find another computer with similar specs.

Great laptop! I can do light gaming on it and high end games I just have to go to lowest settings but they are playable. Also has a nice battery life as well. Now to the drawbacks the keyboard is horrible if not in the correct lighting the keys are barely visible. My only other issue is the mousepad it randomly becomes non responsive. And even after downloading the drivers for it I have less sticking but it still sticks. The Bluetooth is a little off as well. But it does improve greatly once you download the drivers. Which is crazy that those drivers aren’t apart of a main update. But those are small issues imo it’s a great laptop otherwise

Excellent PC. Free of bloat ware and is wicked fast. I would recommend this for anyone that wants a big screen laptop. SSD may not be as large as other machines but if needed you can buy a larger one or an external for next to nothing. Some people aren’t a fan of the letters on the keyboard since they almost match the color of the keys, but, being a millennial I don’t look at the keys that often. There’s also no backlight for them as well, another thing I don’t personally care about. The performance is top notch and the screen view is pretty darn good! Recommend for anyone that needs a pc for school or casual gaming. Plenty of ram to do anything really. My work PC has 8gb and this has 12gb if I’m not mistaken. More than enough!
