BUYER BEWARE!
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this BRAND NEW. From day one this laptop came out of the box scratched up, and won’t function properly. The battery lasts an hour at most. It’s runs like an OLD laptop. DDE Windows Server error. Took this back to Hawthorne Best Buy THE DAY AFTER because it was obviously NOT NEW. Best Buy refused to exchange it. ASUS, even though it’s STILL under warranty says it’s Best Buy’s responsibility. No one will just exchange it for an even trade. I’m a storm chaser that issues tornado warnings all over the Midwest and the South and we NEED radar to run. It will not run on this. I’m stuck with an $800 laptop that hasn’t functioned since day one. Not satisfied AT ALL.

Not worth the money
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only reason why I got this laptop is for the 1tb harddrive, spent over 400 and this thing is not worth that much, its slower than a laptop I had in 2016 (that I got for the same price), the laptop dies after 2 hours or charge, the speakers are garbage and ALSO on the bottom of the laptop (meaning it will always be covered/muffled), this is literally the only laptop I have had where if I close it instead of going into sleep mode the laptop has to boot back up, and this is the only laptop i have had where it freezes after booting up (where it shows the home screen and you have to click to get to the sign in) meaning after waiting 5 minutes for it to come on you have to restart it and wait another 5 minutes to try and sign in I honestly wanted to try and do some basic editing on the laptop because I thought the cpu and 12gb memory could handle it but the laptop vomits trying to run with 2 browsers open and I gave up I honestly cant wait to replace this thing

Posted .Dear Bruce,
We do understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused.
If you are experiencing slow system speed or performance issue with the laptop, please check if Windows is up to date, keeping Windows updated will maintain optimum system stability and performance. It will handle basic or light editing as long as Windows and drivers are up to date. The battery life is approximately 4.5 hours of light to medium workload. In order to improve or prolong the battery charged time, please try to do a battery calibration manually. To start with, please drain it completely then charge it fully without using the system. Once fully-charged, please use the laptop, without the AC adapter connected, and drain let the battery drain completely again. Regarding the laptop not going into sleep mode when the lid is close, please configure power options in the Control Panel Power Options. While accessing web applications, please make sure the laptop has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since poor or unstable internet connectio will definitely affect system speed and performance.
If the above-mentioned steps were already performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the laptop, please download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/. If you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Asus Vivobook 17.3 Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my 17in Asus Vivobook a couple of weeks ago last minute for work. I was traveling for work but I needed a wide screen. This laptop is perfect for that. I love that it is lightweight so easy to fit in my bookbag as a carryon. I also like having a 10-key pad. My only issue with this laptop is that the keyboard does not have backlight so it is hard to see your keys in dark or low lighting. The battery life is not as long as I would like so you do need to carry your charger but at least that is a reasonable size. Overall it's a great purchase and it's reasonably priced.

A fine laptop, but one big problem
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fast and efficient, suits the desired level of use. However, there are three issues with it that I personally have encountered. First of all, the black print on silver keys makes it difficult to see the letters when it's dark. Second, the laptop charges fast, but also drains quickly. Lastly, there needs to be an indicator light when the nums lock is on, which is my biggest gripe with the product and is a baffling design flaw. Despite these issues however, this laptop has been great and I am quite satisfied. Would be rated higher, but the nonexistence of a nums lock light is a big problem that is hard to overlook.

Very disappointing
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1. Battery, even at power setting doesn't last more than 2 hours. 2. Sound is very low 3. Extremely slow to boot up. 4. Keyboard lettering is close in color to the keys, making them hard to identify. I could have survived with all the above, (1)kept it plugged in,(2) didn't purchase it to watch movies/listen to music/(3) patience is a virtue/(4) can touch type What really tipped it over into "worst laptop/pc purchase ever" is, Less than 4 months after purchase, keyboard became unresponsive. Updated Driver. Uninstalled/Reinstalled Driver, Reset to factory setting...still no keyboard function. I have spent more time attempting to solve the issues, than I have using the laptop (No exaggeration!). The only positive note is the screen is bright and large

battery life... or rather lack thereof
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Aside from the obvious weight and bulkiness you get from this large of a laptop, the battery life sucked snowballs. Also, my mouse disappeared all of a sudden and it took me a while to adjust the settings... super puzzling. And this is just from the start so it wasn't because I had "too many files or apps" on the hard drive.

It's ok
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's an ok computer.....DO NOT TAKE OFF THE S MODE if that's what it's called. I immediately did this and my computer is kinda of slow so I'm assuming it's because of this. Not unbearably slow but still slower than I would like it to be considering I've had it for less than a year. NOT A GAMING CPU.....this thing is strictly for web browsing and streaming, very light gaming capability so no call of duty lol. Big screen is OK. ALL in all does what it's supposed to do and also the battery is TRASH. If I have this thing off the charger literally for an hour this thing will be somewhere below 50 percent and I bought mines brand new. So definitely keep charger on hand, I basically treat mines like it's a desktop and KEEP it plugged in for home use only

Pleasantly surprised
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was unsure on the ASUS name for a work/study Laptop. I have been very pleased with the speed and reliability of the computer. I do a ton of word processing for my master's classes as well as video and ZOOM meetings. The laptop has worked like a champ. Would definitely recommend this item for students and business pros alike. I would give 5 stars but the battery life, I drain it pretty quickly off charger, but it is also how I have the unit set up, I'm sure. Display is wonderful, graphics very clear.

Pretty good
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had this computer for over a year now. All around it’s a really good computer especially for a work from home job. My only complaints will be the battery life is about 2 hours and that if it has an update sometimes it will do it automatically even after you push it out. However those are the only issues! I would buy again

Asus Vivibook: three weeks later.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve only had this for three weeks. What drew me to this amazing buy was: the specs. I couldn’t resist. 12GB, i5, 1TB for under $500. I bought two. The keyboard is not backlit so in less than optimal lighting, you need an alternate light source. The keys are also flimsy. How do I know this? An 8 month old infant was able to pop one off. I pushed it back in and I’ve had no problems with it- yet. The battery life is also rather questionable. On a full charge with the lowest lighting, I can’t say I’ve gotten a good hour. Finally, and the most heartbreaking, the computer lags. I’m not even doing any heavy work. I just have maybe four tabs open, a word document, and the file explorer. At this point I’m only holding on because I don’t believe I’ll find anything better. I can overlook the fact that it’s a 17 inch laptop, or that the keyboard isn’t backlit, but what can I do with a barely three week old laptop that lags? Grin and bear it? Or admit defeat and start over. It’s like a bad relationship that I’m trying desperately to revive. I can’t leave because I’ll have to admit it’s bad. I was hoping for a powerful machine, but I realize now that I may have been deceived.

Great laptop for the price
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Saw this laptop on sale for 50% off and was impressed by the memory/screen size for the price, but was also leery after reading many of the reviews. I figured I had 15 days to return it if it was that bad, so I went ahead and ordered one. The laptop was delivered the next day at no additional cost. During the initial setup and seemingly endless updates to download/install, it was rather unimpressive and slow. But once everything was up to date and out of S Mode, it's been great. Don't let the negative reviews scare you away. The screen resolution and battery life could be better. A backlit keyboard would also be nice, but for under $400 I am very happy with it.

Battery life tanks a great computer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hate I missed the return window. Not a Good Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wish I had read the reviews before buying. I trusted Best Buy’s recommendation. We’ve had it for almost a year. From the beginning it has randomly shut down. We only use it about six hours a week, so it’s not from overuse or overheating. It stays plugged in so it is not due to low battery. Took it back to Best Buy after a few months of this happening and was told they could send it off, but it would just most likely get sent back without being repaired. It’s not used for gaming or anything that is taxing it. It’s very frustrating because this might happen two minutes into getting started or twenty minutes.

Good quality, color on keys are too light.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the laptop for the size and quality of the item. However, why would you have gray buttons with gray lettering. That makes it very difficult to read the letters, then you can't find any sticker/keyboard cover with different color letters so you can see better. The battery does lose charge fairly quick, so I keep it plugged in. Over all, that's the only issue I have had with the laptop.

Good laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this on sale for $499. It has a mechanical HDD, but looks like I can install a NVMe drive for faster boot up. I like the screen size and smooth feel overall, but the characters on the keyboard should be darker or lit up to see them better. If I were a real typist, it wouldn't matter. The battery life could be better too, but that's probably due to the HDD. Overall, it's a good laptop.
