Customers are saying
Customers are impressed with the Vivobook's price, ease of use, ample RAM and storage, and lightweight design. However, many users cite concerns regarding the keyboard quality, particularly the key color and lack of backlighting, and report shorter than expected battery life. Slow boot times were also a common complaint. The large size of the laptop was mentioned as a drawback by some users.

Good laptop
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its a good laptop my wife likes it. The keyboard is hard to see. The designers went with beauty instead of functionality. Get a silicone keyboard cover for 15.00. The hard drive is a bit slower compared to a ssd drive, but not a game changer for the average adult. For about 50.00 you could switch is ssd drive. All in all the other reviews are pretty spot on. This is good laptop for someone that wants a big screen, browse the internet, read emails, print, do QuickBooks. Anyone who has a etsy shop or online store. It’s prefect for that.

Thanks for the reviews they made me buy it.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to agree with the masses. The hard drive is a done deal for any windows OS past windows 7. I bought this with the plan to immediate replace the HD with an M.2 SSD which really brought this laptop to life. Yes it is no gaming PC but it's fine for my intermediate usage. The Core i5 and 12 gb ram really help push this thing. My only complaint is the contrast between the keys and the printed symbols on the keys. In certain light and/or reflections it can be difficult to read. For this and the fact that it did not come with an SSD I took away one star. I will note that I tried it with a SATA 2.5" ssd and it also performed well. I will recommend this but ONLY if you plan on upgrading the HD to an SSD. I am luck that I can do it myself, so all it cost me is $50 for a non-gaming 1TB ssd.

Very disappointing
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1. Battery, even at power setting doesn't last more than 2 hours. 2. Sound is very low 3. Extremely slow to boot up. 4. Keyboard lettering is close in color to the keys, making them hard to identify. I could have survived with all the above, (1)kept it plugged in,(2) didn't purchase it to watch movies/listen to music/(3) patience is a virtue/(4) can touch type What really tipped it over into "worst laptop/pc purchase ever" is, Less than 4 months after purchase, keyboard became unresponsive. Updated Driver. Uninstalled/Reinstalled Driver, Reset to factory setting...still no keyboard function. I have spent more time attempting to solve the issues, than I have using the laptop (No exaggeration!). The only positive note is the screen is bright and large

Does the job
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer for simple work use but wanted a big screen and something that was speedy. This claims to have the same internals as my HP of the same size, but it takes a lot longer to boot up every day and tends to lag at times. Otherwise, it does the trick for being cheaper.

Nice laptop if you do some upgrades
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When you catch this on sale and do a couple of upgrades this is a very capable laptop. The two big draw backs on this computer is the physical harddrive and 12gb of memory. I was lucky enough to catch this on sale as an open box. First boot up was almost 5 minutes next was 2.5 to 3 minutes. I picked up pny 2.5 inch ssd 1tb and cloned the harddrive installed and boot time drop to less than 30 seconds. Next upgrade was to the memory the laptop comes with 4gb soldered to the board and only one memory slot I maxed it out with a corsair 16gb stick for a total of 20gb. There appears to be plenty of room to just run two memory slots but I get it how can we build it cheaper. Also not impressed with the computer coming in windows 11 s mode. I was trying to surprise my sister with buying her a new laptop for her birthday. Windows when in streamline mode will not allow you to install anything outside of the Microsoft store onto your computer like Chrome or a third-party dish cloning software. So I had to setup a Microsoft account for my sister to unlock windows from s mode aita. So to recap do i think the laptop is worth normal price without upgrading harddrive and memory no. Is the laptop a smoking hot deal when on sale for 1/2 off yes. After my upgrades and adding office 2016 total cost of my build was under 500 dollars about 460. At that price point I think you will be hard press to find a laptop with i5 cpu 1tb ssd 20gb of ram and a 17.3 in screen. The only other draw back is the coloring used on keyboard silver on sliver is just hard to see would have been better if they used black keys and sliver lettering or added a back-lit keyboard. I like this laptop at the price I paid for it

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not great. Slow to boot, and slow to open applications. Was hoping for a better experience from a laptop with 12GB of Ram. Even on battery saver, the battery life isn't as advertised, I cant get more than 2 hours out of it.

HDD (100% Disk Usage)
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I bought this laptop, I didn't realize the hard drive would be an HDD as most laptops now come with SSD. But my goodness, the boot time was so slow. After windows started up, the disk usage was at 100%. After 20 min or so, the disk usage was still hovering around 60-70% and I didn't even have any applications open. This definitely is hindering the performance of the laptop. Didn't ASUS tested this before putting it into the market. I don't care how much the price they sell this for but if there is a major flaw in the design, then this shouldn't have been released. This is my first ASUS brand laptop and not having the best experience. At least this laptop has an upgradable slot for an SSD card. Hence, the two stars instead of one.

Super slow never buy from here again
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just checked my purchase history and I couldn't believe that I bought this laptop two years ago: I feel like I'm using an eight years old dying laptop! Starting from about half a year or so after buying, the laptop is just getting slower and slower that every windows update becomesva struggle. Right now, every boot up takes 10-20min before the windows defender finishing its scan and the disk can finally go below 100% so I can actually do something. And in fact that I'm writing this review here, is becasue for the past two hours, I have been updating the windows (or forced to update), which keeps the disk at 100% so the laptop just freeze for hours. Even now after the update is conpleted, it takes 3 second for the window to show up when I click file explorer, Chrome takes 10s. The disk is a trap (HDD 5400rpm) and I regret to say that I fell for it. Who know if anything else would come up if I upgrade it to a sdd, thanks to the time when the laptop froze I already nail down a new laptop I want to buy from somewhere esle. Really hope you don't buy this one.

Slo and slo
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not sure what the deal is with this laptop, but it has been a total disappointment. It takes a very long time to boot up, I'm talking 14k dial up slow! Its been that way since I bought it. I have always loved Asus, but this one is just.. I don't know. I have a 10 yr old one that runs faster. One would not expect this from a Gen i5.

Horrendously slow.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I usually do not rate items 1 star, but this one well deserved it. Would rate it 0 if I could. I love ASUS products and built my PCs using their parts, never had an issue. I bough this laptop 7 hours ago. Did not even get to sign into my email and it is already getting returned. For the TL;DR: Do not waste your time buying it. My 2011 G6 Pavilion running W7 on 4GB of RAM with i3 in it is faster than this laptop. Embarrassing. The initial start up took almost a hour before I could even log into this laptop. It comes preloaded with Windows 11. Not an OS for someone who knows how to operate a computer and has been doing so for many years on a professional level. Not a big deal, installed W10 hoping to relieve the slow problem. I also disabled a lot of bloatware services and MS Edge at the start up hoping to speed it up. Nope. Not happening. Can't even check my email at this point. Bought this just to do that in a fast, timely manner for my upcoming trip to Europe. Might as well just stick to my phone. I could not believe it. Even with a fresh OS, the boot time was horrible. Google Chrome would barely launch on this laptop. Just for craps and cackles I decided to open a YouTube video. The ad's audio played in the background while the screen was frozen black. That was the last try I gave this computer. I thought the other reviews were fake and underserving. Those people were right. The only reason I bought this was because it has a full keyboard (which in uncomfortable, also) and a large screen. ASUS products have always left me impressed, but apparently their laptops are to stay away from. Waste of time, gas, and money.

Posted .Dear Matt,
We do understand your disappointment and the inconvenience if you are experiencing slow system speed or performance issue with the laptop.
This issue is temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update, regardless what brand name of computer this may be. This may take a longer time depending on the network traffic from the update server and the stability of your high-speed internet service. Also, laptop will do several system reboot, black screen temporarily or restart during the update process. Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized. Keeping Windows updated will maintain optimum system stability and performance. If these steps were already performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the laptop, please download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/. Also, while accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance.
If you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.

Worse Laptop Made
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The worst laptop I have ever bought and owned. Way too Slow
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a five year old laptop that boots faster than this computer. I have tried to rid the Start up menu of as much superfluous stuff as possible and it still takes 6+ minutes to boot up. Then, once booted up, it is very slow to open any program (My ASUS took another 6+ minutes)! Granted this is a cheap computer, but it should move way faster than it does. (My old machine has 8GB RAM compared to 12GB RAM in this new one.)
