Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Vivobook's price, ease of use, ample RAM and storage, and lightweight design. However, many users cite concerns regarding the keyboard quality, particularly the key color and lack of backlighting, and report shorter than expected battery life. Slow boot times were also a common complaint. The large size of the laptop was mentioned as a drawback by some users.

The screen have such a bad resolution. I barely can see anything for how bad and light the picture it is like. Also we just start to use it and it is so slow for a brand new computer.

I did not like this computer. I am not very computer savvy, but I can definitely assume that with upgrade this computer could be a better product. The computer boots are very slow and sometimes is very slow to accomplish certain basic task. I personally have had issues with their freezing from time to time when doing schoolwork.

Poor efficiency despite configuration ASUS ASUS - Vivobook 17.3" Laptop - Intel Core 10th Gen i5 - 12GB Memory - 1TB HDD but works like Pentium II in speed. May be okay for use if use is just for basic tasks . Once you install apps as small as SPSS, you will be sleeping off waiting for the computer to respond. Unfortunately Best Buy knows how worst the product was that when I went to trade in they offer $54 for the system if with charger and $43 if without charger. The system is as new as when I bought it no repairs has never been done it. The charger only currently cost up to $40 but the whole system and charger is $54 in trading at Best Buy. SMH

Gave my laptop to my daughter for college so I needed a new one. This has lots of memory but runs kind of slow. It is very large and is not touch screen but overall is a good laptop. It is easy to use and set up but even though I have fiber internet it still runs slowly.

The only reason why I got this laptop is for the 1tb harddrive, spent over 400 and this thing is not worth that much, its slower than a laptop I had in 2016 (that I got for the same price), the laptop dies after 2 hours or charge, the speakers are garbage and ALSO on the bottom of the laptop (meaning it will always be covered/muffled), this is literally the only laptop I have had where if I close it instead of going into sleep mode the laptop has to boot back up, and this is the only laptop i have had where it freezes after booting up (where it shows the home screen and you have to click to get to the sign in) meaning after waiting 5 minutes for it to come on you have to restart it and wait another 5 minutes to try and sign in I honestly wanted to try and do some basic editing on the laptop because I thought the cpu and 12gb memory could handle it but the laptop vomits trying to run with 2 browsers open and I gave up I honestly cant wait to replace this thing

      Dear Bruce,

We do understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused.

If you are experiencing slow system speed or performance issue with the laptop, please check if Windows is up to date, keeping Windows updated will maintain optimum system stability and performance. It will handle basic or light editing as long as Windows and drivers are up to date. The battery life is approximately 4.5 hours of light to medium workload. In order to improve or prolong the battery charged time, please try to do a battery calibration manually. To start with, please drain it completely then charge it fully without using the system. Once fully-charged, please use the laptop, without the AC adapter connected, and drain let the battery drain completely again. Regarding the laptop not going into sleep mode when the lid is close, please configure power options in the Control Panel Power Options. While accessing web applications, please make sure the laptop has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since poor or unstable internet connectio will definitely affect system speed and performance.

If the above-mentioned steps were already performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the laptop, please download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/. If you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent from the link: https://www.asus.com/us/support/article/1135/.

I bought this computer for simple work use but wanted a big screen and something that was speedy. This claims to have the same internals as my HP of the same size, but it takes a lot longer to boot up every day and tends to lag at times. Otherwise, it does the trick for being cheaper.

Fine computer but set up of windows 11 was PAINFUL

First and foremost, the computer works fine and looks fine. However... getting this thing setup properly took in the realm of a week and a half. I did no less than 33 updates to get this computer set up to be even remotely fast. Let alone doing ALL the optional updates, to get it working better than my Lenovo that has 8GB of RAM. There were so many times I was forced to just restart my computer in hopes there would be an update that was needed to occur that the computer didn't tell me about. I came real close to returning it on several occasions. I don't blame the computer but windows for this issue. I tried to set it up to have windows 11 from the get go, and let me tell you. Windows S-Mode is complete nonsense. They want you to not download any other web browsers but microsoft edge is complete crap and ridiculously slow in S-Mode. I couldn't even update to windows 11 until I disabled S-Mode, so it's essentially worthless. Let alone the fact that the computer just CRAWLED during setup while it was enabled. If you buy any computer with Windows in S-Mode, DISABLE IT IMMEDIATELY OR YOU WILL HATE LIFE. It should NOT take over a WEEK to set up a computer properly. I'm in, I.T and was still at my wits end with this. Windows 11 needs to get its act together. Also this computer only runs its processors at base speeds of 1.00 Ghz when it has an up to 3.00 Ghz speed, that I still haven't figured out how to make it use its full capacity. My lenovo Idea Pad 330 runs at 2.67 Ghz. Honestly, this may be the last windows based OS computer I buy because of this. DON'T MAKE ME GO TO APPLE, MICROSOFT. I DON'T WANT TO.

slow, heavy, washed-out screen. I should have known better than to consider an HDD drive over a solid state. All the other specs looked good and I was hoping the 12GB of memory would help, only helps having multiple apps loaded, but the slow hard drive takes forever to load them up into memory. Also the screen is faded like worse than laptops made 15 years ago with LCD screens. I recommend anything over this laptop. Sound quality was bad too.

      Dear Valued Customer,

It's unfortunate to hear about your experience with the hard drive, screen, and sound. This is not the kind of experience we want any of our customers to have. Is the HDD running 100% at all times? Please ensure to keep your Windows OS up to date and scan for any known malware with Windows Defender. For the screen, have you tried to calibrate the screen within settings? Please ensure to keep your sound driver up to date as well. Saw this laptop on sale for 50% off and was impressed by the memory/screen size for the price, but was also leery after reading many of the reviews. I figured I had 15 days to return it if it was that bad, so I went ahead and ordered one. The laptop was delivered the next day at no additional cost. During the initial setup and seemingly endless updates to download/install, it was rather unimpressive and slow. But once everything was up to date and out of S Mode, it's been great. Don't let the negative reviews scare you away. The screen resolution and battery life could be better. A backlit keyboard would also be nice, but for under $400 I am very happy with it.

I've owned several Asus which is why I purchased this one, Very disappointed in this model. My older model was way faster and didn't have the lag issues this one does. Could be Windows being a resource hog, but with 12gb of ram, that should not be the case when I am not doing anything graphic or resource intensive.

The absolute worst laptop at any price. No amount of cheap can prepare for.how slow and unresponsive this laptop is out the box. It operates nothing like it does in the store once you take it home. Thats a demo mode their showing you in the store..this laptop is so bad it struggles doing in pic operations. Like if you try to open a window or a folder thays just info on the laptop at minimal it will be a 80 second wait. Its going to give you a not responding message and be stuck on that screen until you turn it off. There is no correcting itself on this laptop. Just to get on the home screen the sign in procedure lasts 2 minutes at its shortest and Im not exaggerating. I been waiting for it to sstart working again while I write this review and Im still waiting. Had to turn it off twice while I write the review. If you think you are doing yourself or your student a favor by shopping for a deal you will be sadly mistaken and highly disappointed in yourself. Especially if you read this review and still buy it. I believe nothing Asus is worth the money. And I live a good deal. But lessons must be learned and Asus is out to show why you dont bargain shop for certain items. Go head and get the nice one.
