However, many users cite concerns regarding the keyboard quality, particularly the key color and lack of backlighting, and report shorter than expected battery life. Not a good buy.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did not like this computer. I am not very computer savvy, but I can definitely assume that with upgrade this computer could be a better product. The computer boots are very slow and sometimes is very slow to accomplish certain basic task. I personally have had issues with their freezing from time to time when doing schoolwork.

A fine laptop, but one big problem
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fast and efficient, suits the desired level of use. However, there are three issues with it that I personally have encountered. First of all, the black print on silver keys makes it difficult to see the letters when it's dark. Second, the laptop charges fast, but also drains quickly. Lastly, there needs to be an indicator light when the nums lock is on, which is my biggest gripe with the product and is a baffling design flaw. Despite these issues however, this laptop has been great and I am quite satisfied. Would be rated higher, but the nonexistence of a nums lock light is a big problem that is hard to overlook.

BAD HARD TO SEE LETTERS KEYBOARD
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Computer is great except it has a horrible keyboard where you cannot see the letters or symbols on the keys without special light with the silver keys with slightly darker symbol colors and are really hard to read. I should have ordered a computer with black keys and white symbol colors

Does the job
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer for simple work use but wanted a big screen and something that was speedy. This claims to have the same internals as my HP of the same size, but it takes a lot longer to boot up every day and tends to lag at times. Otherwise, it does the trick for being cheaper.

battery life... or rather lack thereof
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Aside from the obvious weight and bulkiness you get from this large of a laptop, the battery life sucked snowballs. Also, my mouse disappeared all of a sudden and it took me a while to adjust the settings... super puzzling. And this is just from the start so it wasn't because I had "too many files or apps" on the hard drive.

It's ok
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's an ok computer.....DO NOT TAKE OFF THE S MODE if that's what it's called. I immediately did this and my computer is kinda of slow so I'm assuming it's because of this. Not unbearably slow but still slower than I would like it to be considering I've had it for less than a year. NOT A GAMING CPU.....this thing is strictly for web browsing and streaming, very light gaming capability so no call of duty lol. Big screen is OK. ALL in all does what it's supposed to do and also the battery is TRASH. If I have this thing off the charger literally for an hour this thing will be somewhere below 50 percent and I bought mines brand new. So definitely keep charger on hand, I basically treat mines like it's a desktop and KEEP it plugged in for home use only

Quality with Limits
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device had a standard HDD which was very slow. My frustrations were completely relieved once i replaced with a SATA SSD. In doing so i realized it also had an nvme slot as well. RAM is adequate to start and upgradable. Biggest limitations with this would be graphics and battery. A value pc.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really n ice picture, big screen, but takes FOREVER to even open or load anything from Day 1. I bought in 2023 and it is Sept 2025. It's still working...just so slowly that it hurts my feelings and provokes many dirty words from flying out of my mouth.

AMD-based/Nice student laptop - great Streaming
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good value for the price; however, the laptop is slow. the display has slightly too much white light and the keyboard is difficult to read due to the lack of color contrast between the key color and symbol color - or lack thereof. The stock 1 TB hard drive is slower than expected, but probably fine for most users. The RAM is good in regard to it being 12 GB but you'll need all of that just to run windows and a few basic apps. The network card seems to be normal in its performance without any obvious problems but I did not spend enough time on this area to make a true evaluation. I cleaned up Windows by removing some of the preinstalled apps and changing some settings that are more of a resource hog rather than a true feature enhancement - fade in, fade out, etc., in settings located in the control panel. I also updated to the latest Windows 10 packs that I thought were ok - you should know if you're not into tinkering, that not all updates from the mothership are actually beneficial - Google that for more insight. I installed a new solid state drive to speed things up. Now the laptop performs. I also shopped RAM and searched for the best "timed" RAM for this motherboard and settled on Corsair that was the same spec as the replaced mod. Even though the spec didn't change, and even though the onboard memory wasn't changed, there is a noticeable improvement in performance measured with benchmarking software. Each PC/Laptop will have different results as techies will know even when the components are the same brand, model and version. So a side by side comparison will not be a good way to choose upgrades if your looking for optimal performance improvements. Be sure to research you individual components using the proper utilities (BIOS updates) to inspect your motherboard's settings and how is actually operating rather than what it is touted to be. Lastly, when it comes down to choosing Intel or AMD, do some research. I chose AMD because of the overhead factor. Each brand has its superpowers, but essentially I offer the following analogy: you can drop an apple from head height and it falls to the ground or you can drop the same apple from the same height with obstacles, or overhead, in its way. Overhead is what it takes to run the chip and AMD has less overhead. AND its less expensive.

Keyboard color ruins an otherwise great machine
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I take the word "laptop" literally. I use it on my lap. I'm typically in a recliner, and it's in between or on top of my thighs. This computer took a little getting used to. For some reason, the front corners of the base are sharp and it was the first thing that annoyed me about it. I had to adjust my position on the recliner to compensate. The charger has a right angle plug and that helps a lot. I find the hardware to work well together and be a good value. A 256 SSD would have been more attractive to me than the 1TB HDD. I was a little leery about going back to a mechanical hard drive, but I've adapted. I only boot it once a day while I'm having my coffee. I'm as brain dead as the computer is for those first 5 minutes so it works out fine. But once Windows & Co. has fully loaded in the background, it's sufficiently fast. Most of what I do is on the internet and I'm pretty happy with page loading times. The rest of the day I just sleep it when I'm not using it, and it springs back to life almost instantly. I love the action of the keyboard. It's like silk. However, the keyboard is very difficult to read. It's not backlit and there is not enough contrast between the silver color of the keys and the grey color of the letters, numbers, and symbols. Additionally the "shift" activated symbols are small and even harder to read. So it has been a nightmare learning this keyboard. I'm constantly using the display like a flashlight to find and re-find where some of the less commonly used ones are. Home, end, page up & down are in such a weird spot that I will never use them. I know silver is the "trending" color right now, but without backlighting, these keys suck if used in anything less than laboratory conditions. Mouse pad has been flawless. The resolution of the screen is good but not great. I only notice it if I have my other laptop next to it. The brightness, color, contrast are all very pleasing. I never use it outdoors. I/O is more than adequate. No complaints there. I'm probably not going to mod this ride until the warranty runs out. There are no removeable panels on the bottom. The whole bottom must be removed to access the mobo. I'm dying of curiosity to see if there is an M.2 slot and whether the memory can be upgraded. Ideally I want to add a small SSD and just use the HDD for storage and kick the RAM up to 16GB. It seems like retailers and manufacturers want to make the necessary info impossible to get. I assume it's because stupid people don't understand the difference between the amount of RAM a machine has and the maximum it can handle. So the marketing morons and other corporate stooges suppress that info to prevent confusion amongst the easily confused. Frankly I'm tired of living in a world where we have to set the bar as low as possible for these mental midgets.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned several Asus which is why I purchased this one, Very disappointed in this model. My older model was way faster and didn't have the lag issues this one does. Could be Windows being a resource hog, but with 12gb of ram, that should not be the case when I am not doing anything graphic or resource intensive.
