Smoking 5ghz performance - simply would not support a 2.4 ghz guest network. This isn't my first Asus router, so I am familiar with the webui for setup and configuring the different networks. I used the mobile app for initial configuration and that was a hot mess as it created 3 networks out of the box, a 2.4, a 5, and a second 5 for backhaul. I changed the SSID names to reflect my previous networks, matched the passwords so my IoT and automation devices would connect seamless on the 2.4 ghz channel. The 5ghz channels were blazing fast over 700 mps. The 2.4 ghz channel would not connect to the internet. I changed the settings so many times, restarting the router, reconnecting my mobile, and one time I got the 2.4 ghz to work but the speed was 30 mps and then it simply dropped. Multiple internet connection drops on the 5 ghz. I did, amongst 500 other changes, upgrade the firmware. The singular most frustrating experience I have had trying to get a very expensive mesh system to work. Maybe I got a bad one. Will be returning and buying something different. Avoid this one, the pain is not worth the gain unless you only need 5ghz.

This mesh system has maaaaajor connectivity issues. Guys at geeksquad don’t recommend this because it’s built to work with WiFi 7 and hawaii has to WiFi 7 or plans to create a WiFi 7 network. I’m pretty upset bestbuy won’t let me exchange this. I bought the eero 6+ and it works waayyyyy better

Purchased XT8 on 1/10/21, on 1/30/24 they stopped working. Purchased these, XT9, on 1/31/24. On 3/27/24 they stopped working. Think it's time for a different brand.

The ASUS XT90 was the best choice for my application for WiFi. I bought this system to replace my old ASUS 88 2G router because the WiFi had gotten to where it would drop on me. I was able to install and set up the new system in a short time which provided me with a strong WiFi signal throughout my house for several devices l have. It has great range inside and outside of my home. I am very happy with the purchase from Best Buy and appreciate the knowledgeable associate Andrea for helping me order the system. When l ordered it l didn't expect it to arrive so fast the next day. The whole experience was great. Thanks Best Buy!

Unreliable and extremely problematic

I was told by the cable company that these mesh routers were the way to go.
I had tried another brand for a month and was unimpressed. Being an Asus fan, I decided to give these a try. Setup can be frustrating, for whatever reason my iPhone 16 would not allow me to connect to complete the setup. After an afternoon of trying everything I can think of, I was able to complete the setup using an my older iPad. It would have been nice if I would have been able to set it up using a Lan cable with a pc sitting a few feet away from the router.
There's a pecking order to setting these up, you've got to start with the main unit and once it's setup you can add the nodes. My initial purchase was a two pack. Long and short, took about an afternoon but everything was up and running. After a firmware update it seemed to work well. I added a third XT9 node to give our blink camera's a decent signal around the house.
After about a week I noticed the speeds were extremely slow. I was getting less than 40 mbs on my PC although the router said I was running 500mbs. Eventually every device on the network was running at a slow speed.
Rebooting it was a process in itself, as it never cleanly rebooted; I'd have to power down the other nodes first and let the main reboot first and then power on the additional nodes. I pulled the Blink camera's off the network and added them to another router which I set up to handle all the IOT devices in the house, with this second router being set as an access point. That worked for awhile but eventually the slow speeds came back.
Rebooting was still a huge deal as it never really came back up easily or cleanly, and took a lot of time, not a great situation when you've got an impatient wife and a couple of kids whining because their streaming is down again. The last attempt to reboot was enough for me, three times and I decided to unplug them and go back to a single WiFi router.
So far for a week the system as been working flawlessly. I was able to plug our camera's back into the network and it's been working well.
I'm really disappointed in these but I'm at the point where I can't depend on them. I've noticed the price of these have dropped substantially, even on eBay you can see a large number of these are for sale used. As much as I'd love to recoup some of my losses, I don't think I want to be responsible for selling these problematic devices to someone else.

I had our home set up with the google wifi 4 pack and while it was fine, any gaming or large streaming would constantly face issues regardless of position or if we wired to nodes. Replaced it with this and our signals went from an average 50-100 ping and 20mbps down/ 10mbps up to 5-10 ping and 450 down / 400mbps up. Super easy set up on the app, you can seperate your bands into 3 2.4/5-1/5-2 and you get some incredible settings and configuration options.
