I am very much happy I got this lock when I did. I was going out of town and needed to allow access to my pets and this was perfect. The app reviews complain about the auto-unlock feature, but that is an issue with theirs, phnoes, mine has always worked and I don't even need it. Has worked for Every guest I've allowed access to with no issue, and with the connect, it's always accessible via wifi. PLEASE NOTE, this doesn't go ove your lock, it replaces the back plate of your lock. keep that in mind. Gripes : I don't like that the battery covery for the lock isnt very secure. someimtes wont lock if door isn't lined up directly with lock, so have a secure door. Mines is a heavy custom door. Praise : super easy to use, no exxplanation requried to my guests i added. app Always works! keeps a great connection, even if connect brick is sort of far away. Great on alerts and auto lock options as well. I am surprised i ike this lock so much and would heavily recommend I just wish that August app would be inclusiof other smart features serviceds, not their fault. No homekit, but really consider is homekit worth the addition 40-80 dollars. you have to be really ingrained in it, for me I'm not. plus the app really is perfect.

if you are looking for a smart door lock and you rent the house or apartment then this is what you need because all you are changing is the parts inside your house, so the owner or landlord can still open the door with the original key. if you buy the smart door lock only you can open the door via bluetooth and you need to be very close to the door, now if you buy the little wifi hub too you can lock and unlock your door from anywhere in the planet.

Bought this a few weeks ago. I had bought it because we burn thru keys. Now I just send an invite. I have not WiFi’d it. You have to careful with the lock adapters. They give you three different versions but of course none fit my lock. I was OK with that because it was time to change it out. I just made sure the new one fit one of the adapters. Installation is easy. Watch some of the You Tube videos. The lock and app are not overly complicated. I liked that. All in all it is well built and I think it will last a good long time. So far the batteries have held up OK. I do recommmend this product for ease of use, easy install and a simple app.

August smart lock was easy to install and simple to set up. It functions perfectly with the app to unlock my doors on arrival and re-lock the doors behind me. I'm a groggy morning person, so the peace of mind knowing that I *did* remember to lock the door this morning is worth it. It also payed off in other ways: letting in the plumber was easy when there was an emergency leak and the app let us know that our pet sitter wasn't coming while we were on vacation, so we were able to arrange another sitter from 1000 miles away AND let her in and out without having to get her keys. There's a million little ways that smart locks are handy -- and these locks do the job. CONS: If you have and use multiple doors, you'll need a hub for each lock -- it would be great if multiple locks could work off the same hub, but sadly that's not the case. Similarly, auto-unlock only works on one door per phone... if you're like me and have a vestibule/patio door to get through before the front or back door, I still have to unlock one of them manually -- I use the August keypad to stay key-free.

I love the August lock. Bought the Smart Lock Pro and ended up having to return it to get this one, the regular Smart Lock (2019 model). Both work the same and connect to WiFi using the August Connect device (included in both packages I purchased). The Pro model is rather large (significantly larger than a typical deadbolt; my guess is a little smaller than a softball). For our front door, the molding protrudes preventing the Pro from fitting (the side clasps could not be fully extended to mount it). Options were to either modify the door or get another product. The regular (capsule shaped) Smart Lock fit better for us. If your door is flat on the inside, either should work fine. Installation was easy. I had a question about calibrating the deadbolt position - called August tech support and the tech actually used FaceTime to guide me through it all using a demo product (so I could see her do it and she could see it work at my house). Really great customer service.

This lock was easy to set up and use right out of the box. Download the app, follow the instructions to install over your own deadbolt and then connect it to your smartphone. The hub was included allowing me to successfully link it to Alexa. It worked as advertised when I set it up to auto lock and Auto Unlock. I’m honestly surprised at how easy it was to install and set up and set up with Alexa. I had purchased and returned another brand because I could not get it to work. Not only was setting it up successfully a breeze, but it appears to be a high quality lock. I wish that there were a way to intermittently disable the ability to manually lock and unlock it to make it harder for a person breaking the door window and manually unlocking it. Just remember that you need to purchase a separate deadbolt as this does not come with it.

I started with The Pro locks because they have Homekit integration, but I switched to these because the Pro Locks are way too large and bulky. There are some issues with the August line of products. Connectivity is iffy, blue tooth range is very short. Its a consistent problem with all of their products. They have gotten better over time with updates. Biggest complaint is the door sense is useless. My door will be ajar and it will try to lock over and over, and since the lock looses connection to the hub you don't get an alert your door is open. On another note the connect hubs are horrible, they are bulky, and each lock requires one to connect to your wifi. Without that connection some of the biggest reasons to have a smart lock cease to exist. Smart home products are missing the point, they are all developed in a void as to other smart home products, Id like to add more but I'm done with all the hubs., and different protocols. I tried committing to Apples' Home kit, but companies like August promise future updates to include it only to find out after you invested in a door bell and lock it aint going to happen. If you like to tinker and have a small, very small place with one or two doors this might work for you. If you like getting constant alerts your hub has lost connection, go for it. Whining aside, when they work it is awesome, I love the style of this model over the Big round wheel look of the Pro version. Easy to install. App is nicely designed. Just need better radios in the units, and seriously make a single "hub" that can act as a bridge for the locks, or develop a secure efficient "wifi" protocol, to do away with all of these power gremlins called hubs.

The internet side of things is a little spotty, but it was a breeze to install and I really love this lock. I've had no issues with getting it to lock at all, its super smooth and does exactly what its supposed to. Within minutes, it was up and running (minus the internet setup) - the internet setup took many resets, but eventually it works, too. From the outside, you don't know this lock is there, you keep your same key. It's a neat design. I'd buy more for my house, but they are a little pricey, I'm hoping for another great sale to come along.

Auto lock & Unlock works everytime Super easy to install and the App is 2nd to nine. Would like to have only one comment bridge fow several locks.

the instructions were pretty simple and within 15 min I had replaced my lock and was using my new smart lock. The Bridge needs to be plugged in to an outlet that is both very near to the lock and very near to your wifi router. If you can't, the bridge will not work (or will not work well). That said, If you can make that work, this product will do the job.

This lock is pretty darn good. Setup was a breeze, very easy to follow steps in the app with video instructions. The Auto Unlock is great, now when I get home at night I don’t fumble around for my keys in the dark. Only complaint is with the Alexa Skill, but I don’t fault August for that. Most of the skills I use Alexa with have issues from time to time, leads me to believe Alexa is the problem.

There are times when I have forgotten my keys at work and I would have to wait for my husband to get home to get into the house. Therefore, we decided to have a smart lock that can be opened remotely since potentially we might also have guests who might visit when we are not at home and we can give them access to our house as well. Installation was easy with the walk-through videos and we were able to link the smart lock with our home security app. The only complaints I have is that the lock is rather bulky and the connect has to be plugged in really close to the smart lock.

This lock works great with Alexa. I love the auto lock and unlock function. You never need to worry if you forgot to lock the door. It also great when you are away and the bug man needs to spray your house or your kids or relatives get to your home and they forgot the key. Easy to use and has a nice app!

So easy to use. Don’t have to change out hardware and works seamlessly with your phone or Alexa enabled devices (can always ask Alexa to lock the front door, from bed if not sure you locked it). Can also set it to automatically unlock your front door as you approach even if phone is in your bag.

Super easy to install using their included install videos. Love the connectivity through WiFi. I also have the keypad which I highly recommend. This has changed the way I get into my house and my neighbors are none the wiser because my door on the outside looks the same. One downside it's a little loud but to me it's not a big deal.

Installed this version on a door that had a window, The profile or width is small. The unit seems a little loud in operation. Works very reliably with my phone. I have used both Android and Apple with the August lock and both work very well. Have them in two separate locations. Both work great!

This August lock does everything it's supposed to do. I've had it since March and haven't had to change the batteries yet. I have 5 users that I allow access to my house through the August app. It's easy to install and connecting with the app is a cinch. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a low cost smart lock.

Didn't play well with the Schlage deadbolt latch (had too much play), but found a different latch that worked perfectly that didn't have too much play. Take you time with installing, it's worth it. It's come in handy being able to unlock and lock my door with my phone on the go. Even works with Google Assistant

This is my first smart home device, and I have to say that I'm really impressed. I managed to set up auto-lock/unlock and it works great! It locks whenever I leave the house, and unlocks when I get back. I added my entire family and they're able to use the app as well. It also gives you notifications on who unlocks/locks and when they do. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a smart-lock option, but doesn't want to replace their existing deadbolt. It takes ten minutes to install with a Phillips head screwdriver, and it keeps your existing deadbolt so you can use your key if need-be.

This smart lock allows you to keep your exterior side of dead bolt assembly while attaching to the interior side of the dead bolt assembly, which maintains the paired handle / dead bolt look. Easy to installation even for a novice DIY. Just download the August app and it will guide you through the installation process and help you set up the settings after installation. Note that it may not be compatible and attach correctly to older deadbolt assemblies (probably from the late 80's and older, in which case you will have to buy a newer compatible deadbolt assembly. The house this was installed on was built in the 1960's. The deadbolt was probably the original of the house and not compatible, I changed the handle and deadbolt altogether to a Kwikset series).
