Great lock. It easily replaces the deadbolt toggle without needing to change out the other side of the lock. This works great for me because you are able to still use your old keys. You can use the app to unlock, or use Siri if you have a smart home hub.

On top of the Ring Peephole Cam, I also bought one of these for my apartment. Make sure to check with your leasing office if this will be okay. This only replaces the inside deadbolt and still allows for the use of the original key outside in case they need to get into your apartment for maintenance or emergency purposes. Setup was a little wonky with Apple Homekit, but I'm still giving it a 5/5 for it's value to me. I've forgotten to lock my door once and, had it not been for this August Wifi Smart Lock and Apple Homekit, I would have had to turn around and been late to work. Also, without the combination of the two, I may not even have noticed that I had left my door unlocked. In case you're wondering, the 4th gen does not require a base station to work like the previous models. The build quality is fantastic as well. Doesn't feel cheap or flimsy.

Great smart lock. Significantly improved when compared to the second generation. I love the fact that the lock wont lock itself if the door is open. Overall would recommend it if you're interested in the smart lock or thinking of renting out your place for AirBnB

Love it! Had some issues setting up with Siri but def worth it! Love the Auto Unlock feature when I pull up at home.

I used one of these for each of my locks in my house. I have had a couple issues with the Bluetooth connectivity but once I was able to directly connect to wifi I haven't had any problems. It had made life easier.

I really august locks. I can keep a normal look on the outside and smart lock on the inside. These install so easily. And this fourth gen feels more solid and smooth and is smaller Plus wifi built in is great you dont need the extra little box

so simple to install. This model does not need a separate device to connect to wifi which is awesome. Easy to setup in the app. Guest keys are easy to hand out. Notifications are great. Love the fact that I don't have to rekey the doors. Highly recommend.

Fantastic option to keep your outside handle set. Very pleased with the install and setup. Reassuring to know we can rely on the front door being locked and this doesn't require Internet access.

I like that it fits over your existing deadbolt. That is all I wanted and needed. No issues with connectivity in my case, and you can give others access and monitor the status of your door(s).

Here are a couple of comments after I tried setting it up multiple times. It's not difficult to mechanically install it. But you should know that it may not align smooth with your existing lock. Since they were not designed together, the coupling is not push-and-fit. You may have to spend some time to understand how to make the couplings frictionless. With frictions, automatic locking/unlocking would not work because the battery-operating movement is not strong enough. I also tried on setting up the auto lock/unlock. Sometimes it open/close as it was designed, but many times it doesn't work. It seems it has a Bluetooth communication issue with some phone models. The lock is supposed to sense whether it is in the lock position or the unlock position. But in my trials, it didn't consistently sense the position correctly though I went through its tuning process multiple times. I will have to check it with August if it can be fixed or replaced.

An improvement over the previous generation. Previously to access via wifi you needed an extra accessory that didn't work very well. Now it is integrated and flawless. They also include a sensor to determine if your door is open or closed.

Overall a good wireless deadbolt lock with wi-fi app access.

We bought this so we could avoid using the garage so often during the summer and heating up the house. It has proven to be a perfect purchase! Easy to use and the guest feature is perfect for our nanny.

The lock is perfect when you want to allow access to care givers, pet sitters etc without handing out your key. Can also track that they’ve been there. Wish it would give a little more warning when the battery gets low

I mainly bought this lock because its HomeKit compatible. Also because I wanted a lock to unlock itself when arriving back home which this lock does about 80% of the time. But I read that the company was sold and their current owners are not investing on it as much as before. When it works, its great, but that other 20% is annoying as this is a very expensive lock. Also, it seems this lock will not support Home Keys.

Great lock but a bit pricy The setup and instructions are easy to use and it works great. The only down side I will say is that these locks seem to eat up batteries like candy.

This lock is fantastic! I can access it remotely from the app or from Alexa. I can also use it manually. It knows when I leave and knows when I get home. Best lock ever! Feeling much safer since adding it to my outdoor wood gate.

everything works as advertised and lock does a good job of seeing me when i com to the door

Extremely simple to install and compared to my previous smart lock (Yale Nest) this is 100% better. I've not had a problem yet with it after a few months. The Yale lock was a problem out of the box.

Works most of the time with some caveats. They need to work on the Wi-Fi connectivity.
