Bought this august wi-fi smart lock ( 4th generation ), this is my second one and I really like them, easy to set up.

August - Wi-Fi Smart Lock is a good lock. The lock works well if the person installing it know exactly what to do to have the lock working correctly. This is a good lock if only a few people have the key to manually open the door.

Size is good, significantly smaller then previous generations, I didn’t like that you must purchase separate keypad to get more out of the lock. I returned it and opted for a Yale lock instead,

Has a lot of nice features and I like the idea that you don’t have to change your current key you have. It also does to make it appear you have a smart lock hooked up. Lots of nice features that you can utilize to make life easier.

It seems to be working to my liking. The smart lock my keep me safe. It appears to be a strong dead bolt.

I loved my previous gen August lock, but this newest version takes odd batteries that die way too fast, and it needs recalibrated once a week.

I haven’t had this device installed for more than four months and I’ve already been told by the app to replace batteries TWICE. There’s nothing wrong with the installation or the Wi-Fi, or the batteries, i’ve even limited remote locking to save battery after first replacement, and they still last only about a month and a half. Don’t waste your money on this worthless trinket. Avoid the sales hype and do your research first. Consider locks with the steadier energy source.

Great Smart Lock, replaced a August Gen 2 with it and its a nice upgrade. Works with Homekit and allows you to use the stock bolt and key which can be important if you are renting. Seems to have a lot more torque then the Gen 2.

Works perfectly fine and makes life easier. Just wish it wouldn't eat up battery life as fast.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCK! I have owned older generations of August locks with the wireless bridge separate and it worked reasonably well. This generation lock should be compared to Windows ME or Vista. Issues with this lock: * it chews through the batteries at a pace that I have never seen. on top of this, the batteries are not something you can commonly get at a local store. * You think you can lock and unlock this lock via the app.... guess again. The firmware is riddled with issues in this lock and its event document as a known issue for August but since buy this in July of 2022, they have not corrected it. The App will just sit there showing a pulsating circular logo and never actually do the commands (again said to be a known issue). * I have attempted to go back and forth with support and its probably one of my least favorite support models to deal with. I work in IT, I know how to deploy wifi and how to make sure this lock has plenty of coverage. I would not recommend this lock for anyone who values keeping there house, loved ones or pets safe. It is untrustworthy just based on reliability and the known bugs that this company has yet to fix or provided any time line to address.
