Looks nice not very big. But with some faults 1. Door must be properly aligned or lock with not lock or jam. 2. Lock doesn’t always automatically unlock, sometimes I have to pull my phone out and then the lock unlocks or when I pull on the door. 3. Will say door is open when it’s clearly closed. I’ve moved the sensor and recalibrated multiple times. Pros. 1. When it does automatically unlock i love the convenience. 2. I love being able to unlock the door for my guest when I’m not home.

August makes great locks. I had two of earlier gens that I really like. This 4th gen is even better and no bridge is required. If the other two didn't work so well, I would replace them with this one. Along with great locks, August also has great customer support when needed.

Works just as intended. Love it. Looking at a second addition

Seemed super simple to install, but it doesn't work with our dead bolt. No other reviews seem to have this problem, but we live in a house build in 1913, and I have no idea how old the lock mechanism is. We'll either need to return it or go to a locksmith to see if there is something wrong with our deadbolt. My guess is that you have a more modern standard set up, things would be fine.

A great smart lock. Easily installed and works consistently

I'm a huge fan of CNET reviews and they listed this lock as one of the best smart locks. Installation was easy (video walkthrough within the app) and once set up it worked perfectly on day 1 and maybe day 2. After about 2 days, that's when the trouble began. The lock continuously disconnects from wifi. I constantly get notifications that it disconnected. I believe because of this, the feature where the door unlocks when you get close to the house works maybe 30% of the time. It's EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. When I pull up to my street I get a notification that it's attempting to unlocking the door but it doesn't work. I get to the front door and push to open it only for it to be dead bolted still. I have to pull my phone out and hold it next to the look for the Bluetooth unlock feature to work. I even called Verizon and had them configure my home WiFi network so I can manually choose to make sure it's connected to the 2.4Ghz signal and that didn't help. It took a while to trouble shoot and now it's too late to return it. I give it two stars because it worked great for maybe 2 days. Unfortunately, now I'm stuck with a $200+ smart lock that isn't smart enough to work properly.

Great great app app for home usage with iPhone great

Seems to be a good quality product but, not totally satisfied with the operation yet. Installation and set-up is a breeze. Operation of the lock is good most of the time. However, sometimes the lock does not respond to the app commands. Additionally, the lock have unlocked itself at random without initiation from me. Not sure what causes that, maybe an internet connection issue. Will consider uninstalling if this persists.

Looks wise this is a little bulky, but functionally the size is appropriate. It is designed to fit inside your hand, and turn with little effort. Which is exactly what this does. Rotating the dial to lock or unlock your door is very easy. The outer ring of the lock is grooved for extra grip.The handle feels very sturdy, and of quality construction. The magnetic cover, that houses the batteries, holds it's place so well, you will forget that it even comes off. Manual use of this lock,from the dial to the key, works perfectly. For aesthetic purposes it would also be nice if the device came in more colors besides just silver and black.Our current handles were kind of a brushed nickel, so the silver is a decent enough match. Installation was actually just as easy as they said. There are a few instructions inside the box to help you out,but there are actual videos and more detailed instructions inside the August Smart Lock app. It takes you through everything step by step. Installation can take about 5 to 10 minutes, depending on your method.They give you a few options. It was very easy to remove the inside half of my current deadbolt, make sure you tape the other half to the door with the included tape, so it stays up while you are working.The next step is to place the mounting plate onto the open hole in the door. (there are 2 plates inside the box.The larger diameter plate is only used if you have a large hole in your door, and the mounting plate is too small to cover it.) After this, all you have to do is match up the correct included adapter with your cylinder locking tab/pin.The smart lock goes right into place, and then locks there with two side levers. (easy as pie)The next step can be slightly more laborious. If you want the app to know if your door is open or closed, you must install the door sensor. This can be done quickly if the edge of your closed door, butts up to a flat wall. You can simply screw it to the wall , lined up next to the Smart Lock. If your wall doesn't have room for an extra obtrusion, than you can drill a small 5/8ths size hole into the door jam, and place the sensor there. It is well hidden, and out of the way with this method. Setting up the app is just as easy as the lock installation. Once you have registered your lock, and paired it to your phone, comes the fun part. Here you can give access to other family members and friends, or anyone you want to have access to your home. Each individual needs to register also, but it will be under your lock profile. Once that is done, the app keeps a log of the times and whomever locks or unlocks the door electronically. You can even set up guest access to the lock. The cool thing here is that once you are connected to the Smart Lock, you can lock, unlock or see if your door is open from anywhere you have data, on your phone. You could be at the store,and forgot your friend was stopping over to borrow something. Instead of having them waiting around for you to get home,you can simply unlock the door for them from the store, and then lock it after they have left. It is really very convenient.For more convenience, you can pair your lock with your favorite assistant, like Alexa , Google , and Siri. Here you can verbally lock and unlock your door, for guests or whatever. I paired mine with Alexa, I had to set up a verbal code through the app, to give Alexa permission to access the lock, so far I only had to use the code once. Using the lock through the August app and Alexa has worked out great. The August app also has a cool feature for auto unlocking and auto locking. The app can tell when you are home and unlocks the door for you. This is extremely helpful when you have your hands full, and you are trying to get in the house. Keep in mind this feature runs off the accuracy of your GPS on your phone. It is supposed to lock your door, once you leave your neighborhood (about 200m), and unlock your door when you are within a couple feet from it. So if you live in an apartment complex, or other tight living areas, this might not be suitable for you. The auto unlock and lock feature is optional, and is turned off by default. So far this Smart Lock has been great, I no longer need to hide keys outside, because my oldest son either forgets to take his house key with him, or loses it somewhere(SMH). The whole key thing with him has always been a crazy situation. Now August has saved us all from the headache with their new Smart Lock!I absolutely love the functionality of the lock, and the fact that I can look through my logs to see when that sneaky kid got home last night, lol !!

The wi-fi on this item is very sketchy with no resolve from manufacturer.

They are great! Use Apple Home Kit no hub required.

I gave this one star, because I have had two of them - both of which failed in the first two years of ownership. When the locks works, it is amazing and I really love it. But unfortunately, they are not made to last and support from their people has been no help. I will try again, maybe, when version 3 comes out.

I like being able to come home and just open my door. I was originally having an issue where my door wasn’t opening, then I started unlocking my phone before I got out of the car and my door figured it out and now I don’t have to open my phone when I get home. Weird bug but glad it’s gone.

I bought this item and installed it inside my home. I am happy to say that it worked very well and I am most satisfied with this product. I really enjoyed the fact that the product was adaptable to my existing deadbolt. I also liked that no one knows that my door has an automatic opener. Excellent product.

Works well but the setup is not as clean and easy as they mention in the guide. Once set up, the features are fairly stable (from time to time, the auto-unlock doesn't work properly). I do like the product and will keep it, now that I have it working. I only bought this because my SimpliSafe Door lock was out of stock (but it was also a pain to initially install and setup)

So far the worse smart lock that I’ve tried. You’ll be replacing the batteries every month and I wasn’t even using it as much since we use the garage access all the time. Also the WiFi connection kept dropping throughout the even even though it shows full signal.

I ended returning the product Quality is good, but too many disconnection issues

This lock is fantastic. The original was great, but this tin the lock to a whole new level. It is a significantly smoother action in operation now and the wifi signal is great making this the best smart lock I've ever used. Previous locks include generation 1-3 August locks and a Yale lock.
