I didn't like the AXXESS RF remote, because I couldn't find a place to put it that wasn't in the way. It obscured the gauges if it was on the top half of the wheel and was uncomfortable to use on the bottom. So I found one of these stalks on Ebay.
Installation is not bad. You should remove your shroud before getting one of these to ensure that you have room on the inside for the reinforcing spacer and nut.
I have it sticking out from the bottom left corner of the shroud, angled back and down. It's easy to find by feel and is far enough from the turn signal stalk to not be in the way.
Then you just run the wires to the control interface. The instruction are a bit off as they say to ground the red/grey wire on the stalk, but that wire is on the interface. So there are two ground wires on the stalk, and two on the interface.
It programmed itself to my Alpine head unit and works very well. There are four buttons on the back and I'm not sure how they are programmed but one seems to activate the microphone in Android Auto which is nice.
It's really a shame that this is discontinued by the manufacturer. It's a great solution.
