Quality cable

Bough the wrong cable

Perhaps it was an issue with the HDMI cable? Mini DisplayPort™ to HDMI® Adapter, 4k (F2CD079bt) https://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F2CD079/ My HP Pavillion 32q (also from bestbuy) always wakes up properly as soon as I connect this cable to my MacBook Air 2017/2011.

It combined 2 cords to one

Connect your iMac to external display

Works just like HDMI to HDMI but with a smaller port on the iMac side, audio-video is as expected and this works great with other computers or laptops as well equipped with mini display. Cable is good quality and fit in the port is good.
