So far so good
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a toddler who likes to throw sippy cups and i had to buy a new computer, i like the all in ones. So i gave the cracked screen one to my son and just got a monitor. And i purchased the total protection being assured that if my toddler cracked this screen, they would take of it right away!

Yay Peace of Mind, Extended Returns. Boo AutoRenew
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Extended 60-day return period in case something goes wrong is my number one reason to get Total. Extra time to return is worth paying for, although I do wish the default return period was 30 days instead of 15. 15 days is not always enough to evaluate an expensive product that you might use daily for years. I have suscribed to Total before (and canceled after 11 months, before it renewed another year). Auto-renew only is scummy, but when I cancelled before, it wasn't a big hassle. They give you a pro-rated refund for the remaining portion of the year if you haven't used your benefits - I guess that's good, but it means you can't cancel earlier if you'd rather Total keep going to the end of your year but not renew. It's not worth it to me to renew for a second year - after the first year. If my device doesn't show signs of failure in the first year, I feel like it will last through the second year. If I bought $1000+ items from Best Buy every year, or if I bought multiple protected items at once, or if protection lasted longer than the first 2 years, I'd likely renew after the first year. I'm worried about the 1st year, 3rd year and 4th year more than the second. If you're shopping online, watch out for products not sold by Best Buy. I almost bought a larger SSD thinking it would be protected too, but it was sold by a third party so it didn't qualify. I decided to shop elsewhere for that. I've never had to use the damage protection, so I can't judge on that. I have used the extended return window. Best Buy is offering a promotion to get more reviews on this, so watch out for reviews where the person hasn't had Total for more than a couple days.

No fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.New to program.. Bought a PC with good help from sales. Advice for support taken. Just getting to know service dept. Interesting that app does NOT allow for messaging or changing appts. Front desk clerk very rigid but tech people kind. We drove 2 hrs to drop off computer and do 5 min of paperwork. We were sent away and had to make a new appt the next day. Our street was closed for a fire and we were late .. like 20 min. We were told the work was possibly more than a day when we set up the appt. When we finally got our hands on the five Min of paperwork required... ( after 2 hrs of driving to Bangor)... they said it will be a week before we get to this... all calls go to call center with all foreign speakers not familar with geography... ie why don't you find another Store ( we live in northern maine).... probably our last purchase since no one answers phones, no one is presence to problem solve at customer service and any attempt with online is antiquated

Worth it, if you spend regularly
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just the 2 years of free apple care, makes up for the price of the membership by itself.... If you buy ONE apple product a year, it makes you whole. "Membership just for the right to shop" sounds weird at first, but the member only deals are pretty good when they are on products you need, but if you are thinking about this membership and DON'T buy at least one major purchase (phone, computer, TV, Appliances, etc) a year, then it won't add up to be worth it, the major appliances and expensive tech is where the savings really add up. Protection plans on everything (including apple care) by default is amazing piece of mind, needed to use it twice last year, but keep in mind it's only included while the subscription is active, so no "get it for this purchase then cancel it" workarounds.

Get if for a big purchase. Keep it for a year or 2
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally signed up for the Best Buy Total membership mainly for the warranty coverage and the extended return policy. It’s a yearly membership, and you get one year of warranty when you first sign up, with a second year added if you renew—but the warranty does not extend beyond two years, even if you continue renewing after that. That limitation aside, I’ve genuinely enjoyed and made good use of the price protection feature. Being refunded the difference when items go on sale shortly after purchase has saved me money multiple times. Because of that, I’m comfortable paying for a second year. After that second year, though, I struggle to see much incentive to keep the membership unless additional long-term benefits are offered.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't find geek squad is that great or helpful. I had a issue with a tv and geek squad was horrible with how to handle the issue and knowledge of how to handle the issue. I just want you the costumer that best buy takes your money for extra coverage but depending on the tv manufacturer warranty I payed and they didn't cover it or even helped on the issue I had to go back to the tv manufacturer they took care of it because the had to they gave a 2 year warranty on their tv and I wound up getting a refund because they don't carry or have a better quality tv. But to get the refund it took almost 2 months. So no tv for that amount of time I don't recommend getting the extended warranty that best buy offers in my opinion. Hope this helps.

Totally impressed and not
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love being able to get the work I need done on my computers without being overcharged. I do however, have issue with buying a new Mac and being told I could not get the 20 minute instructional on the Mac when I was picking up a computer that had a hard drive erased, another that was to have its drive moved to the Mac, and picking up the Mac (that did not have set up the apps I requested) that was not ready. Only to be told I had to set up another appointment when an in-person agent originally set up the appointment knew my situation and assured me I would be given a 20 minute lesson on the Mac. One agent tried to be as helpful as possible as the other was trying to rid of me. In the end I was asked if we were I was good (my first Mac). I asked how to shut it off. That should be at the basic of instruction. Just because they know does not mean I know. Most of the techs were wonderful, but one ruined my experience. When I asked how to shut it off, I think she realized I was clueless and really needed help. Instead I found a place on my Mac that walks me through some of the basic issues and have reached out to friends or You Tube for other concerns. Something that could have been explained by the techs in a 20 minute walk through. After spending that much money and telling them my fears of transitioning to a Mac from a PC, they should have been more understanding.

Three tries finally fixed it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used the membership for online support to fix a problem with my new laptop. The keyboard quit working after a few weeks. They could not find a fix and said it was a hardware problem. I had the computer serviced by the manufacturer who replaced the keyboard. That didn’t correct the problem. I then took it into best buy geek squad and explained the problem. The geek squad person knew exactly what was wrong. It was a software update that had caused the problem and they fixed it in a few minutes. I wish the online support was aware of the update that caused problems. Bottom line is they fixed my problem!

Virgie's Geek Squad experience Warranty plus $$$
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I usually say this is the BEST TOP Value. I had to have Geek Squad out to work on my computer, connect 2 TVs & fix my CD player to where I could play music 24/7 I had to pay $286+++ dollars & the TV's work but my computer still has some issues & the CD player worked until they drove off. I went into the BEST Buy & talked to Geek Squad & the technician said it depends on the manager. i asked for the Geek Squad to return as I had 30 days & even sent in 2 requests No one showed up and no one contacted me and I spent all that $$$ for jobs incomplete. This is the first time my Warranty did not pay off.

Membership has changed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very satisfied with my Total Tech membership. I thought is was a good thing to have when problems arise. Now I am not so sure. I was able to bring my laptop in to the GEEK SQUAD and they would help or fix the problem. Now my new laptop has only a 2 year free service and then there is a monthly charge. The Total membership seem to go up and the services that were included now have to be paid for. On the reccomendation of recommending Total memebership there should be a MAYBE to check off.

Samsung Galazy S25 Ultra and HP Omnibook Upgrades
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.IO purchased a new phone and a new laptop. The phone swap went reasonably well, although it took almost five hours to transfer 250 GB of data from the old phone to the new phone. The laptop swap hasn't gone as well. All the files were transferred, but the way my Outlook .pst files were attaqched to the new Outlook didn't work. It appears that the files were attached to a different "account".

Love the 60-Day price match benefit!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband and I bought a new house last year and we needed new appliances. I purchased a refrigerator and a washer/dryer set. The Best Buy rep suggested the membership and explained the price match guarantee, especially since Black Friday would fall in the 60-day time. We were able to quickly and easily get the new sale price difference on all three items. Our particular refrigerator went to an additional sales promotion during the time, and they did the adjustment again. I am now remodeling my kitchen and purchasing more appliances and watching for price differences again.

Membership review
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The membership was great for a new laptop I bought and switching the info on my old laptop to the new one. It did not help when I bought a Bushnell View on line and used a rewards certificate. I returned it because Bushnell came out with a new model for the same price. Best Buy refunded my money but not the rewards certificate. I was told when I returned it the reward would be added back to my account, but after a week and I called it was not. I was then told rewards are not reusable. I thought I the membership should have helped me with customer service.

Frequent shopper, cool; not frequent - I'd pass
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is expensive and it renews yearly. If you cancel it, you also cancel ANY protections that you got while you were a member. Even if it was a 2-year protection, since it was paid for via the membership (for "Free") cancelling the membership cancels these protections as well. If you shop at Best Buy frequently enough and take advantage of the protections, then I'd say it's worth it. Otherwise, I would pass on it.

Great when you have kids
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I signed up for My Best Buy Total because I wanted a membership that went beyond just discounts, and it’s been worth it. The plan covers a wide range of benefits, including 24/7 tech support, extended protection for most products, and savings on services like repairs and installations. I also like that it adds peace of mind with security features such as identity protection and antivirus software. The tech support has been especially valuable — whenever I run into setup issues or troubleshooting questions, I can reach out right away and get reliable help. The extended protection plan that comes with the membership is another highlight, since it covers accidental damage and breakdowns past the manufacturer’s warranty. On the downside, the membership is not cheap, and if you’re only buying the occasional gadget, you may not get the full value. But for anyone who shops at Best Buy regularly or relies heavily on tech, the savings and services can quickly outweigh the cost. Overall: A strong all-in-one membership that combines tech support, product protection, and member perks. Best for those who want extra coverage and use Best Buy often.

Paypay pay
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't like that. They charge much on the extended warranty prices and don't offer you extended Geek Squad much anymore. I also had to wait so long for Geek Squad appointments. They are so far backlogged and don't have enough help. I think online consumers and shoppers are killing their store. Business online is still cool, but a lot of the stores and departments are shutting down. Hopefully, they're not on their way out

Love the Service and deals.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the service and the deals available as a total member, however, I don’t get a chance to use them enough! They come across with so many deals and service capabilities, that I am not able to take advantage of it. I’d like to. Worth the money, however. Especially if you’re going to have a new TV mounted and wired.
