    Fantastic choice for Dragon Dictation!

Compared to just a few years ago, dictation software has vastly improved (especially on the Mac). After a horrible experience 3 years ago, I decided to give it a second go when Nuance released the new version of Dragon Professional for Mac. I started out using a cheap headset microphone, but it was uncomfortable and made me feel tethered. After hearing from other Mac users of Dragon, the Blue Yeti came highly recommended and was also "officially" supported by Nuance. While $130 initially felt a bit pricey, after getting my hands on it and using it for a few weeks I consider it to be an absolute steal for the price. This mic is a legitimate professional mic that can used in so many different ways - Podcasts, Skype / FaceTime, Google Hangouts, GarageBand, YouTube Blogs, conference calls, and dictation just to name a few. Initially I thought I would have to have the mic sitting pretty close while I dictated, but I just leave it sitting next to monitor facing towards me at an angle. Despite being nearly 2 feet away, it performed leaps and bounds better than the original plastic headset mic I used initially (which sat about an inch away from my mouth). The Yetti is nearly perfect, but I do have 1 major complaint. I really wish it had an on/off switch because if you leave it plugged into your computer, it has a red LED that is constantly lit up (if it is muted the LED will blink). The only way to turn it off is to unplug it which can be inconvenient. However, I ended up just buying a cheap $7 USB adapter that has an off/on power button so I can leave the microphone plugged in and just press the button on the adapter when I need to use it. Despite this one drawback, I still give it 5/5 stars and my full recommendation!

I finally picked this up in July to replace my old headset mic, and I wish I had done it sooner. The Good: - Sound Quality: The difference is night and day. My friends on Discord immediately commented on how much clearer my voice sounded. It has that rich "radio" sound right out of the box without needing to mess with software. - Build: The "Blackout" edition looks super clean on my desk, but be warned—this thing is a tank. It’s heavy and sturdy, so it won’t tip over easily, which I love. - Ease of Use: It really was plug-and-play. The physical mute button on the front is a lifesaver for quick coughs or interruptions (it flashes red when you're muted, so you never accidentally talk to yourself). The "Heads Up": It is very sensitive. It picks up everything. I highly recommend keeping the "Gain" knob (on the back) turned down low and bringing the mic closer to you. Also, make sure you set the pattern to "Cardioid" (the heart symbol) if you're just sitting in front of it, otherwise, it picks up keyboard clicking like crazy. Verdict: For the price, this feels like a piece of professional gear. If you are tired of sounding tinny on calls or streams, this is 100% worth the investment.

I have a moderately long history in live and studio sound production. I've been a podcaster for 2 years and a musician for 30 years. I pride myself on having the right tools for the job. I can record an interview or podcast or a band or run live sound in just about any scenario short of a 10,000 seat venue. This mic is a simple mic to use. Plug it in (I'm an Apple user) and it works. The dials are conveniently located and are about on par with what you'd expect to feel on a $100-$150 mic. This is USB-only, so don't plan on using this with any interface (mixer, etc). This is a CONDENSER mic. Please, please, please! Before you buy any mic, do your diligence and learn a little about mics before choosing which one is right for you. Condenser mics are very hot mics. If you're room isn't treated for sound, you're going to hear every single ambient noise that is in the room (fans, hard drives, mouse clicks, swallowing a drink of water, etc) and any noise that occurs within proximity of the room (dog walks by in the hallway, wife flushes the toilet or decides to brew some coffee, etc). For those without sound treatment, please, go for a dynamic USB mic if you have to have USB. Mics like the Samson Q2U and the Audio Technica AT2005USB are FINE mics. I have about 50 mics. I podcast with a few like the Shure SM7B, Rode Podmic, Rode Procaster, Blue Encore 300 (condenser), Heil PR30B, etc and the 2 Samson and the AT sound very good when compared to the SM7B or any of the mics I mentioned after. I have a deep 'radio' voice - boomer bob show for examples - and the 2 USB mics I mentioned are great entry-level mics that should carry you well into your streaming or podcasting endeavor. Best Buy was very gracious while I was testing mics to suggest to my fellow aspiring streamer/podcaster friends. I was careful to unpack and repackage this mic and they only asked me if there was anything damaged when I returned it. Of course, it was kept clean (I used a pop filter to keep my breath off of the mic) and repacked like new. Thank you to Best Buy. You consistently remind me why I choose you for my tech-based purchases.

I am a tech enthusiast gearing up to start a YouTube channel. This was recommended to me by multiple individuals. The three condensers in this mic allow for amazing audio pickup and sensitivity. It probably wouldn't hurt to get a pop filter with this. The overall build of this is solid. This is a quality item being encased in a mix metal body. It looks sharp on the desk. However, the in box mic stand does pick up every tap on the keyboard and thumping on the desk. Other wise no complaints. I use this for voice overs, recording acoustic instruments and to make regular FaceTime, google hangouts and skype calls as well (paired with my Logitech C930e). Being that I use a Mac Pro I also receive and make phone calls using this mic. Note this can be done with any Mac with OSX Yosemite. I highly recommended this mic. Don't wait on it just jump.

Starting a podcasts for the various things we do such as filmmaking and collecting we wanted to have to best in sound. And after researching for microphones the YETI by BLUE kept coming up. Focussing primarily on that microphone I found it to have everything we needed to give us the professional sound we wanted. The fact you can simply unbox it and plug it in without having to download software was amazing and the THX certification was a huge plus We love it so much we bought two.

The quality of this mic is impeccable, however it picks up literally everything. If you are looking to use this as a microphone for your computer to stream or do anything other than have short conversations or voice commands then a boom arm is mandatory. The stand it comes with picks up every tap, touch, bump, mouse click, or keyboard stroke that you make. I turned the mic onto cardiod and the gain all the way down and it still picks up my mouse clicks. I have gotten it down to a minimum with some third party programs, but it is still there. This microphone is excellent for recording your voice or sounds that you need for editing, however it might pick up more than you would like.

    Blue Yeti: Still Worth It?

The Blue Yeti USB microphone is a go-to choice for creators, streamers, and anyone who wants great sound without overcomplicating things. It delivers clear, rich audio that blows built-in mics out of the water, especially for voice work like YouTube, gaming, or Zoom calls. With four recording modes—cardioid, omnidirectional, bidirectional, and stereo—it’s surprisingly versatile, though most people will just use cardioid. It’s sturdy, easy to use (just plug it in and go), and has helpful features like a mute button and headphone monitoring. The downsides? It’s bulky, picks up background noise if your room isn’t quiet, and the gain knob isn’t perfect. Still, for under $150, it’s one of the best USB mics out there—perfect for beginners or even more serious content creators who aren’t ready to dive into complicated audio setups.

I purchased this mic to use for recording voice for a weekly radio show. Corona virus required us to avoid the radio station that my partner and I broadcast a weekly show from. One of my bandmates had purchased the Yeti for his home recordings so I was familiar with it. Its strongest features for computer recording are its switchable polar patterns (4 patterns), input level, headphone output which allows for real time, latency free monitoring and headphone output volume level (a nice feature). From the moment I plugged it into my system I’ve found it easy to use, trouble free and great sounding. I can recommend this mic without reservations.

Superior sound quality over cheaper desktop mics, webcam mics, and built-in mics. Onboard hardware performs well cancelling most background noise and delivering full, rich sound. Pop screen can, of course, be added and used, but excellent recording results even without. Onboard mic gain, pattern, front facing mute button, and headphone monitor volume all very convenient. Can be used as delivered on solidly constructed, heavy desktop base, or can be mounted on a boom.

Hello :) my name is Humberto and I just love this microphone. Been going on and off with other mics because they’re always muffled and the voice isn’t clear. But the Yeti microphone is the best one out there in my opinion :) it’s clear and crisp, very easy to use and learn. Nothing complicated with this microphone, no addons needed, just plug in and you’re good to go. Highly recommend this microphone to anyone reading this, perfect for streaming and podcast.

Been using this over a year, this is my 2nd Blue Yeti and I am just as satisfied with this one as I am the previous. The previous is still in use by the way,... just on a different computer. So I got this to use on my Mac computer to improve audio quality during work calls, and I feel it does a good job at that. I use it on the table, not on an arm, and it still does just fine.

I got this mic after having the yeti snowball for almost 2 years. It is definitely a worthwhile upgrade. I use the mic to record audio in davinci resolve and I wanted to upgrade to something a little more versatile than the yeti snowball but not a $400 mic. As I've learned more about audio recoding the benefit of adjust the gain and pluging in headphone directly on the mic are actually useful now. You cab also adjust the audio pattern on the mic which is nice too. The sound quality is great but I wish there was a bundle that came with a pop filter. I got this $25 off because it was on sale, if it wasn't i likely would have waited a few more months to get it. If you're just starting out, a cheaper mic like the Yeti Snowball is perfect for what you need but if you're looking for an upgrade--or have the money to buy a mic that will be useful for multiple years--this mic is a great option.
