These sound great, I purchased 3 sets of these for a total of 6 speakers for my 7.1 suround sound and with the Denon reciever and Yamaha subwoofer. Bluray films are more intense. Highly recommend these.

These speakers work great as my rear channel speakers.Just what you would expect from Bose.

We owned Bose in the past and they were great quality. We like how small they are and the clear sound. They need more bass, though. We didn't use the mounting brackets, so we can't review those. Very easy to set up, only takes a few minutes.

Chose these speaks to replace my old surround sound speakers, which were cheap and small. The BOSE speakers sound great and represent an excellent value. They fill our large livingroom with great sound reproduction for both CDs and DVDs.

After listening to a few bookshelf speaker these ones really stood out. Much more bass than speakers twice the size. The only thing was when I brought them home and stood them up they wobbled. Thought that was odd because they were standing in the store. Figured out they are really meant for wall mounting but did come with little rubber feet for laying then on their sides. Look a little odd but sound great!

i bought these last year to add to my BOSE 301'S ,that i use for front speakers ,powered by an ONKYO 7.1 system.they complement the whole surround experience.i am very happy with these.

Purchased these to be the surround back speakers for a 7.1 System. I already have a set of Bose 301 as my Front Speaker, A nice Polk Center Speaker, a pair of Klipsch Synergy I as the surround left/right. First the mounting bracket takes 2 screws or anchors for each, instead of only one for nearly every other wall mounted speaker I've used. Once the bracket is mounted on the wall, the speakers are directional. 1 left and 1 right speaker so make sure you want them there before mounting the brackets. There is almost no clearance between the speaker and the wall to access the screw that tightens the speaker to the bracket. You have to use your left hand to tighten both speakers to the bracket no matter left or right. Awkward if you're right handed. The sound is only ok. If I paid no more than $100-$125 for them, then fine, but not @ $165. I replaced them with a pair of Polk OWM3's and I prefer them much more than the bose 161..

2 of my small speaker of a 5.1 Speaker broke, And I replease de front left and right speaker with this Bose speaker System and now my home theater is even powerfull and better sound.

I bought these speakers to hide on top of corner cabinets in my Diningroom and am very happy with the low profile, white soft color, and overall sound quality.

Outstanding addition to my accoustimass 5.1, bringing my system up to 7.1.

I purchased these speakers a few weeks ago to complete my surround sound and I have not been disappointed. I love the crisp sound you get when you are listening to a movie or playing a video game. I love these speakers. They just Rock!!!!

Out of the box, these speakers look funny, but the looks grow on you. The design seems solid, but the build quality feels sub-par for a brand which carries such a following. They sound alright, but there is no definition in the sound. If you get these speakers, plan to use them with a subwoofer if you want to feel the music, or be in the movie. I tried first without a subwoofer, and almost all the music in my library sounded anemic. Added my cheap Yamaha subwoofer to the mix, and it got marginally better. I don't know if I just got a bad set, but when you turn the volume up when your favorite song comes on, or your favorite scene comes up in a movie, the 161's started to distort very badly, almost like the drivers inside were blown. I didn't turn the volume to Maximum, and before halfway, they began terribly distorting the music I was listening to. I tried adjusting everything I knew to adjust and nothing helped. I wound up returning the Bose 161's and left with a set of Klipsch Quintets. SO far, I am very pleased with these.

As a singer and someone who appreciates music, this is the best speaker so far. The sound is perfect.

Great external speaker to use with home theater system

I bought this set for my surround sound back speakers and was blown away at the power they can handle with great sound.

Mounted inside my sailboats cabin. Don't normally crank it up... So the low tone/volume performance is very important to me. Excellent sound for the price.

We are very happy with these speakers!! Great sound...GREAT PRICE!! We've never been disappointed with the Bose name and quality of their products!

not bad for the price......poor bass output.....returned and bought JBL bookshelfs at same price and much happier now.....once again JBL outperforms Bose

i'm usually a big bose fan, but this pair doesn't have the sound quality as other bose speakers i've purchased - especially given the premium price. the received they are hooked to is a sony mid-level at 100w per channel, so i don't think that is a faotor.

Good speakers, easy to use hardware, sound great - not expensive.
