I bought this lens because I cannot afford a 70-200 f4IS and darn sure cannot afford the 2.8. I want the f4 non IS, but the 100 f2 was a good compromise. I really LOVE how this lens pops from 2.0-2.8. People think I photoshop my images in because they look almost 3 dimensional. If your hands are shaky, I recommend you buy a Monopod. It REALLY helps hand hold this lens down to 1/20. It is my walk around lens, but not my portrait lens, because it is too close. At a distance, if it incredible.

Got this on clearance from Best Buy for an unbeatable price. Unfortunately this lens has been discontinued but if you can find one for a discount, buy it. Pros: Excellent image quality, sharp, fast f/2 aperture Cons: No image stabilization, no macro

I've only used it for a little bit, but all my shots have come out crystal clear and the depth of field is great.

I couldn't return this lens fast enough. After getting it I went out and shot landscapes and wildlife, and almost nothing was in focus. I'm no pro, but I know how to work my camera's autofocus system and when I should have a good shot. Even when I got a shot in focus, it was not nearly as sharp as I had hoped. No IS is a problem too for something I considered a walk-around lens. The idea of a 100mm f/2 was very exciting to me to get sharp wildlife profiles in low light, but I was very disappointed and returned it for a refund.
