Of course it's good, it's a Canon!

This is an excellent 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens. It features auto-focus capability and image stabilization. I've not used it a lot yet (it's been raining like cats and dogs here!), but it has "heft" to it - it feels very solid. While it's not Canon's "L" glass, the optics seem to be very good and I'm sure they'll suffice for nearly all users except for top level pros.

Terrific Lens

The is a wonderful semi-pro lens. The image quality is fantastic given the aperature limitation of 4. The stabilizer works great and the AF is smooth and quick. It is built well and operates smoothly. I would recommend this lens over any other in it's size range if you can't go for the "L" series.

I was VERY happ with this lens. The pictures came out beautiful! The stabilizer worked very well, even without a tripod.
It is a little pricey...but worth it.
I was able to get close ups of my son on the band field.

Too noisy for video capture

I use this lens with a rebel t4i. Between the IS and USM, it is too noisy for video capture using the on-board microphone. For still photography, however, it is an excellent lens for many applications. Autofocus is fast enough to get a tight series of action shots. If you're looking for a still photo only lens, this is a good value.

Great online price. I'm glad I added this lense to my collection. Almost as nice as the L series and I honestly think it's a better value.

Steady Telephoto Zoom

The IS must work very well on this camera as all of my 300mm shots are in focus. The picture quality is fine, but as it is not an L lens, the colors are a bit faded. However, with Canon's DP prgram, the colors can be enhanced witha very realistic look.

NICE LENSE

While the lense adds weight to the camera, the ability to zoom in from a distance makes catching a good photo easier.

Great Flash for hobbyist and professional

I now have bought two of these flashes. The first was for myself. I'm thoroughly impressed with the quality and utility. This second is for my daughter, who is entering into the photographic profession. She has a professional Canon EOS camera, and has been "borrowing" my flash for projects. She likes it too much, and is also impressed with this device. This second unit will give my my flash back.
Kudos to Canon, and to Best Buy for offering this at a very reasonable price.

Used this lens a lot at SEMA Show 2010...I got some epic shots there even when I was over 150+ yards away from the object that were in my shots. Its a good starter telephoto lens.

The Lens is a great lens to start out, if you are unable to purchase the more expensive L series this is a great compromise. This lens takes very sharp images and is very versitile for outdoor sports photography.

Lens was part of the camera package. I did a little research beforehand and read only good things. This lens has excellent quality for the price. I'm using it on a canon 60d and the photos are better than what I expected. You won't be disappointed if you purchase one.

This lens was a special price when buying my DSLR. I amost didn't purchase it, but was glad I did after using my camera for the first time. I was able to capture my daughter far away chasing after easter eggs - I would not have been able to get the various shots without the longer distance lens. This will come in handy!

the package is good as is, however if i had one wish it would be for a f/2.8 just so i wouldn't have to be dependent on a flash unit for certain pictures. As for the camera, I like the IS lenses. they are built well and the camera as a rock-solid feel to it.

Excellent all around zoom lens. Best feature is the ability to switch between manual and automatic zoom. Works very well with new EOS 7D. Very happy with purchase.

Good lens, but noisy

I have been using this lens for my business for about a month now and I find it is way too noisy to use for shooting footage. A prime is always a good way to go, but the telephoto capabilities were important for many of my close-up and extreme close-up shots required for a few scenes. The image quality is amazing with very shallow depth-of-field, but the stabilization mechanism in the lens is noisy. In fact, too noisy.
The noise would be a problem if you were shooting still at a wedding, a funeral or any other place where it would get very quiet. But if that isn't a problem for you, then this is a great buy for the quality you're getting.

This is a nice lens, but I wish the range were a little better; wish it started at 18mm instead of 70 mm. This seems to be the only lens Canon offers that offers a decent telephoto distance. Forces me to constantly change lenses. At this price I live in fear that I am going to drop it while chaging it out. Heavy lens.
