Had this up and running in 2 minutes on a Samsung Notebook. Ran tests on resolution and frame rate and it delivers as advertised. I had hoped that the fps was higher at lower resolutions, but in my tests thus far, all resolutions are capped at 30fps.Not a major downfall, just noting if high fps is your bread and butter.
Worked great in both Zoom and Google Meet. Sits sturdily on top of pc and was easy to mount on tripod. For storage, it doesn't fold flat and the camera is semi exposed. A carry case/bag would have been a plus, but once again, just a note.
Lighting and auto focus performed well in my tests. Great camera for overall meetings, calls and conferences.

Too expensive for what’s on offer

This camera is a mixed bag. I really appreciate how easy it was to setup, literally plugged it in and it worked without any fuss. The mount is easy to use and find the right angle for perfect viewing. And it is good looking alongside my setup. There is a lot to like here no doubt about it. However, the picture quality leaves a lot to be desired particularly for the asking price.
I was excited to have a new webcam for all the digital conferences I now have to deal with. And while this does that job, the quality is poor as a 1080P camera. It is grainy, and washed out. I tried to adjust my lighting, the angle of the camera, the distance I was sitting from it, everything. Nothing made any difference. Now it’s not horrendous, it’ll definitely get the job done. But if you need something that will show every crisp detail this isn’t that product.
The mic is fine. Nothing earth shattering, definitely not going to blow anyone away but it does what it should.
If it were $20-$30 cheaper the quality would be much more excusable but it feels like it should perform better for this price.
I applaud how easy it is to use, and for many people who want something that you don’t have to mess with this is perfect as long as you can forgive the picture quality being subpar. But again if you must have the best picture and sound available you may be disappointed. That’s why I call it a mixed bag.

Works great with Zoom and MSFT Teams

If Covid does 1 thing for the computer industry I hope that it makes all of the computer and device manufactures stop putting 480p and 720p front facing cameras on all their devices and move them all to 1080p or 4K. Until then, adding a webcam is a must for Zoom and MSFT Teams calls. This Code makes a nice upgrade for this situation.
The Codi is Plug and Play with no drivers required, easy to setup and adjust. Overall this camera just does what I want: produce a clear crisp video that is leaps and bounds more crisp than the built in piece of junk camera Lenovo included with the Thinkpad my company provided.
When I opened the box a random piece of plastic fell out and my first thought was that something broke in shipping. Turns out that's the camera cover for when its not in use, so if you find yourself in this situation don't toss it aside. The piece of plastic snaps onto the front of the camera and can slide back and forth.
There is a rather large red dot on the front that illuminates when you are using the camera. It's a bit larger than I would prefer - but I guess the point is to make crystal clear that the camera is on. Unless you are color blind you can't miss this thing.
A worthy upgrade to whatever your built in camera is.

Video quality is probably a 6 or 7 out out of 10. It has a red light that is always on/annoying.
The sliding lens covering was MISSING. I went to a BB store to get a lens cover or exchange and was told it’s only a mail order item.

I must admit, as a user of front-facing cameras built in to my laptops/Macbooks for more than a decade now, I wasn't sure what the difference in quality would be. Well, boy was I surprised! I used this camera in three cases: one MacBook, one TV, and one traditional PC with a standard monitor. All the cases - the picture quality was terrific, set up was extremely easy (although I did have to find an adapter for USB-C to USB-A). The focusing ability of this camera far outweighs both the speed and quality of built-in webcams.
My only slightly negative rating has to do with the design. I think an all-black design would have been a better look. Also, with really thin edges/bevels on laptops and even on many TVs nowadays, the clip/stand is pretty bulky.
The final verdict: this is definitely a budget-friendly and straightforward webcam. For basic, everyday uses, it will likely far exceed expectations for web meetings, chat, FaceTime, etc. The stand is very nice and I like the privacy cover - something I have yet to see in a built-in webcam.

Solid upgrade for a laptop

Since everyone is using streaming video meetings for work and school now it's not a bad thing to have a decent webcam. I found this camera a pretty good upgrade from the integrated webcams on my laptops, and I can now also use it with my deskptop PC which has no native webcam.
I tested connection and capability on a WIn10 desktop, a middling Win10 laptop and a budget Chromebook. All were perfectly plug-and-play and loaded up the camera very quickly without any issues. Comparing the image from the laptop cameras to the Codi showed that it had a lot more detail even when received on the budget Chromebook screen. The image was on-par with some mid-grade office conference room cameras I have used from one of the big peripherals companies. Where I felt it was less than stellar was in the mic category. The mic pickup was clear enough, but not particularly sensitive in my tests. More akin to the built in mics on the laptops, than the better stand alone conference system style.
On my desktop setup, the usb cable that came with camera was only long enough to reach to the usb hub I have on the desktop, not all the way to the PC under the desk, so that may be a consideration for some. The cable is detachable so you could just pick up a longer USB->Micro USB if needed without having to use an extension. I liked the optional threaded hole on the bottom for tripod mounting which would add some flexibility in mounting. I suppose this would make it possible to put on a small tabletop tripod to use in a conference room or such while attached to a laptop.
Two other simple little features of note are the front facing lights that clearly indicate if the camera is in use or not when connected and the simple sliding privacy cover.
All in all I am happy with the flexibility, simplicity and functionality. With no end in sight to Zoom meetings and Google based classes in my household it will be getting a lot of use.

Nice Webcam

I received this webcam and as it's simply plug and play my computer found it and installed the driver right away without an issue. I tried it in various lighting conditions and it does best with a brighter light, not so well in a dimly lit room. The picture is crystal clear compared to my old webcam but I see too many jagged edges on surfaces that should be smooth. There is no software included to try and correct any of these issues like many of the other webcams offer you. It is what it is but I think this webcam should have some management software. That's just my opinion and I'm sure for most folks it would be quite adequate for Facetime and other things. I do online singing with videos and need a webcam that has a pretty pristine looking recording. This one just did not measure up for me. I did like the fact it includes a cover so you can hide the camera lens, which is a plus many don't offer. It's a nice webcam if you aren't a fussy person like myself and I would still recommend it in spite of some picture quality issues I didn't care for.

If you are like me and have a desktop PC with no built in webcam, this is a great choice for a simple one to use for the modern 2020 world of remote work. Extremely easy to setup and use. Very versatile for mounting, easily fits on the top of almost any monitor. The only downside to this is that it doesn't come with any sort of stand if you don't want to mount it. It is compatible with stands however so just make sure you pick one up if that's how you wish to set it up!

I was given this a part of a promotion & was not sure what to expect since I do not use a webcam very often however I was quite surprised. I have been forced into the "virtual " meeting world lately because of COVID and thought things may get aggravating trying to set up a camera & integrate it with Zoom, Teams, Meet etc. but this camera is truly plug & play. It has a solid 1080 picture on it & have been told that the sound that other hear of me is sharp & clear. There is however 1 issue that I do not care for & that is how it mounts. It has two foldable legs that simply squeeze around the top of your monitor but they are not very tight and there is not any adjustment. I have to assume I am clamping it on correctly because there is nothing listed in the instructions about mounting. I will create some way to make it more sturdy but it really is an issue. Overall solid camera with bad mounting.

Mixed video, poor microphone

The Codi HD 1080p webcam is designed to clip to the computer screen and seems to be reasonably secure with both my desktop display as well as my laptop display. It also has a tripod mount for remote mounting.
The camera was a mixed bag, it provided a sharp but uneven image. The autofocus seemed to work well, but slowly. The camera seemed to be subject to lens flare and there were issues with color balance, one of my video callers complained that the image was red.
The microphone, was too quiet. I was not able to get a decent audio unless I was right on top of the microphone. I found the most effective setting was to mute the webcamera microphone and use the laptop microphone.

I received this CODi 1080P webcam at no cost for an honest review.
I do like the design of the camera mount, because it has a wide range of angles you can set it at. This makes it easy to balance on top of your laptop or monitor, or simply set on a surface.
It also has a tripod hole on the bottom so you can screw your tripod to it. I thought that was a neat feature to include.
It has a privacy slider which can go over the lens, but it is quite flimsy, though it does the job nonetheless.
As far as picture quality, I found it to be acceptable. The lighting was good and the glare was minimal even with bright lighting.
I tested the sound with a user on the other end, and they reported hearing me just fine.
Overall, a very useful webcam for all your basic webcam needs.
Recommended for basic use.

Nice Webcam and Portable

I needed a new webcam for my zoom classes. I needed one for my home desktop. The packaging is very simple and to the point. The packaging included the webcam, a webcam cover, instructions, and USB wire. The webcam weighs about .3 pounds, very light. No option for 360 rotation, but does have an integrated microphone. The maximum frame rate is 30 fps.
The installation was very simple. I did not download any software, just went to my system preferences and I was done. Very simple. I did notice in darker settings the webcam didn't perform up to par. It was pixelled and grainy in these settings. That's the only thing I did not like.
Overall the price and size of the webcam are a great value. It's travel size and sturdy enough to fit in my backpack. I recommend it!

Codi webcam is a plug n play webcam with no need for set up at all. Once you plug in the USB to your PC computer or you Mac (I tried it on both already), both will recognize the device right away and you can start using it. That's a good thing, especially for people who are not computer savvy. So far, I tried it with Face Time, Microsoft Team, and Skype. Unfortunately, the picture quality does not improve that much over the MacBook Pro webcam for Face time. It's possible that this is because Apple doesn't allow that kind of "integration" with their proprietary software. However, when I used the webcam with Skype, I can see a huge difference between the MacBook webcam and CODi webcam. MacBook pro camera video resolution is 720P while this camera is 1080P. And with a frame rate of 30FPS, unless, you are doing a lot of movement, the image looks very smooth. Most laptop webcam doesn't have a high picture resolution, so it makes sense to invest in a separate webcam. The biggest complain that I have with the camera is the fact that the picture is red saturated. By no means it's a bad picture. But I wish, there is a way for me to adjust the picture quality so the color looks more natural.
The camera can be mounted several different ways. On top of the computer as well as on a tripod. And with a 5 ft cable, there should be plenty of place where the camera can be placed to get the picture needed. However, since the cable is removable, there is an opportunity to replace it with a longer cable, if it's needed. It also has a removable camera cover, although it looks very flimsy.
The camera has a light in the bottom left that indicates whether the camera is being used or not: red for idle and blue for active. This is definitely a good feature to make sure that the camera is not turned on without your knowledge.
In the end, I really like the camera and its size, but has a lot of reservation regarding the color tendency of the camera. Again, I really hope that there is a way for me to make an adjustment of the picture.

Consider if you have basic needs and good light

The CODi HD webcam is a budget device for the WFH era. While once nearly dead the webcam market has exploded. The webcam market had been trending away from affordable cameras for the masses to more specialized content creator needs - and it makes sense in a world of laptops with integrated webcams, phones, etc. However, with work from home the new norm, webcams for video conferencing are back in style. The CODi HD assembles just enough camera for your home conferencing needs, but don’t expect this device to do content creation.
First of all, the CODi camera comes in an unassuming box featuring its plug and play facilities, versatile mounting, detachable cover and full hd resolution. The box also mentions it’s 70 degree field of view, and double microphones. These are all relevant details, and it’s good marketing to draw attention to these points. The 70 degree field of view is pretty standard and desirable for video conferencing. A wider field of view might be helpful for content creators, but 70 is appropriate for conferencing. Double mics don’t seem to matter too much here, and don’t seem to present as different channels.
In the box, you find a micro USB cable, the camera, camera lens cover, and manual. The camera assembly looks pretty familiar if you’ve ever seen the logitech C920. While not a carbon copy, the casing, assembly and design owe tribute. The camera is black with light gray accents. You’ll notice on the stand that it supports a standard mounting thread for a tripod. Beyond that it articulates to support itself on top of a monitor. While this works pretty well, there is no lip on the front of the camera, so the body must sit all the way forward on the monitor. While this isn’t a deal breaker, as the camera is pretty slim, it’s a bit annoying. The lens cover slides in place, and does offer a complete cover of the sensor. You’ll need to grab the camera body with one hand and slide the cover with the other. The camera also sports an LED, which is red when powered, and blue when the sensor is active. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a way to deactivate the powered red LED, as it seems unnecessary to have a red LED staring at you all day.
The image quality is pretty noisy in low light. If you have a window behind your monitor, the natural light might be enough to filter that out, otherwise be sure to try to add sufficient light to your room. At lower exposure, the noise that enters the picture becomes visibly distracting, and it will have a negative effect even on thumbnail videos in a zoom or webex.
Sound quality was pretty quiet for me, but passable. Even for video conferencing, I would recommend a dedicated microphone, as anything this far away from the subject will pick up lots of background noise. Even so, the sound wasn’t bad but not good either.
Overall, the CODi webcam is a pretty basic and entry level product. A few years ago, I would expect to find a similar camera for half the price, but the sudden change in working patterns has upended supply chains, and caused previously uneconomical devices to re-enter mass production. The CODi is obviously the first wave, using an old sensor, recycled design, and some rough edges. It’s a compromise, but obviously with previously semi-budget options inflating in price, beggars can’t be choosers. If you need a webcam, have a well lit room, and can speak at decent volume in your home office, then the CODi should be a consideration. Otherwise patience, and a bit more cash will buy a lot more camera.

This webcam is serviceable and adequate. The picture and sound are good enough for the kinds of virtual meetings and events we are engaging in these days, but nothing special. Of course, I would not expect professional-quality video and audio at this price point. The one thing I would expect, though, is some instructions. This webcam is, indeed, plug and play, but there are no instructions about how to improve the picture quality or make any kind of adjustments. (Perhaps it's not possible to make any adjustments.) It’s become the norm for companies not to include any printed instructions in the box, but usually you can access a manual online. If there is an online manual for this webcam, Google and I have been unable to find it on the manufacturer’s website or anywhere else.

This is a great webcam. Setup required nothing more than plugging the camera in to the computer USB port. The image quality is good and the latency is quite low (the video on the screen has very little lag time). There is a 1/4-20 bolt hole on the bottom for mounting the camera on a tripod which is nice. I wish the bracket holding the camera was a little more stiff. It does the job but could "hold" a little better.

Only had this camera for a few days and already used it on various video conferences(Zoom, Skype, Google Meetme) with no issues.
With no software to load, the camera is literally plug and play. The picture quality and sound is remarkable. It's nice to have blue and red indicator lights to see when the camera is active. Having various mounting options available to use is also a plus with the camera along with the lens cover/protector. All in all this camera is well worth the price.
