We’ve had one of those really pricey Japanese “neuro fuzzy” rice cookers on our counter for several years now and it’s never let us down–except for the fact that it’s a bit on the small side and really isn’t made to handle much more than rice. When this COSORI rice cooker came along with a massive upgrade in cooking capacity and additional preparation options like steaming, sauté, or slow-cooking, we thought we’d give it a try and see if a more economically priced “fuzzy logic” model could compete with one of the more highly rated imports that costs nearly 2x-3x the price. Spoiler alert–the COSORI’s results were every bit as tasty and evenly cooked as our pricier dedicated rice cooker with just a few VERY tiny provisos that made it land just shy of the perfect rice (and other foods) cooker in our minds. We found the COSORI’s design handsome and appealingly minimal yet still modern-looking with a slick display, rounded edges, and a single silver lid opener button that didn’t give us pause to leave the cooker out on the counter all the time. Our other rice cooker has a cutesy, almost “Hello Kitty” vibe to it with a bulbous body, big garish and oddly colored buttons and labels against a weirdly small and somewhat difficult-to-read LCD display, with silly musical tunes played for various power and status reports. When first powered up, the display provides you with a set of clearly labeled touch-sensitive buttons to activate cooking options for quick, white, and brown rices, oatmeal, multigrains (barley, quinoa, etc.), as well as additional functions for steaming, slow cooking, sauté, and warming. If no commands are entered, the cooker enters standby mode after 5 minutes and the only thing illuminated is a single “Start” button down in the corner–again, making it less intrusive if left plugged in and set in plain sight all the time. In the box you get the rice cooker, a steamer basket insert, a refreshingly well-written set instructions, a separate recipe booklet, measuring cup, and a “standing rice paddle.” I wasn’t sure what that last bit meant until I left the paddle sitting upright in a pot of cooked rice and saw that the little lip at the end of the paddle hooks over the edge of the inner pot so it can’t slide down into the bowl–nice! Using the cooker is dead-simple–press the button that corresponds to the ingredients you want to cook, add your food/water to the inner bowl (which includes handy text and graduated measuring guides printed right on the inside), adjust the cooking time with the +/- buttons if you wish, and then press START. You can also choose to delay cooking for up to 24 hours using the DELAY TIMER button. The cooker will beep several times when cooking is finished…you can also check your progress on the big countdown timer illuminated on the display. Once the cook cycle is finished, the cooker automatically enters a “Keep Warm” mode which can theoretically keep your food warm for up to another 24 hours, though the instructions suggest you not exceed 3-5 hours, depending on the dish, to maintain taste/consistency. Each cooking function comes preprogrammed with supposedly ideal cooking times for certain types of rice/grains, and the “fuzzy logic” on the inside supposedly senses the moisture content in the grains to adjust temperatures and timing during the cook cycles, but the instructions (and recipe booklet) also include a quick reference guide to further adjust cooking time based on varying amounts of ingredients and water ratios…definitely a handy reference when you graduate beyond a simple few cups of white rice and water. Cleanup is a breeze as the inner pot is totally nonstick; I think we spent all of maybe 60 seconds or less to actually clean the entire unit after each use. The inner lid comes away from the assembly very easily with just a single press on the big orange release latch. The steam trap can also be cleaned after lifting the similarly obvious steam cap release latch. While we loved the COSORI’s 5-quart capacity in the inner pot, the nesting steam basket only has a 2.3 quart capacity. I understand that you need some space for the boiling water, and this would probably be fine for one or two people; but if you have a larger family to prepare meals for, you might find the steamer a little cramped for larger dishes. We also noticed that there are no integrated handles on the inner pot. This is the one thing we wished carried over from our smaller rice cooker as it made transport of the finished rice around the kitchen a breeze; here, we had to remember to use pot holders just to lift the pot out of the cooker as even the “Keep Warm” setting left the pot too hot to touch. It’s a very small niggle, but a feature we missed nonetheless. Finally, as to the results…we tried 3 cups of jasmine rice right out of the gate and just went with the preprogrammed cooking time–perfection! The grains were tender without being mushy, tasty and sweet, and most importantly, they were uniformly cooked throughout the entire bowl without any hard/crunchy/snappy bits sprinkled throughout. We moved on to steamed broccoli next and the results were, again, simply out of this world--we didn't even have to adjust the cooking time from the default settings. We can’t wait to move on to other cooking options like oatmeal or complex dishes like slow-cooked stews as the COSORI is off to a simply fantastic start. If you’re looking for an intelligent rice cooker that also has a few tricks up its sleeve for other cooking functions, the COSORI should definitely be on your short list!

The biggest problem I have with rice is that it is so hard to get right. But this product solves that problem for me. Which makes cooking rice easier than ever. The product itself is very modern appearing. I love the full touch screen on the front. When the machine is off it looks fantastic. And when it is on it looks very modern and futuristic. Touch screen quality responsive and very easy to read. It will give you a countdown (estimated) of when your rice will be done. Along with multiple options on which rice you are cooking or dish you are trying to prepare. As it doesn’t only do rice. When preparing rice you just select the type of rice and amount and then it gets to cooking. Where it will automatically choose the time. Which I thought was neat. The rice I cooked was right on the money and very delicious. I’ll be using this a lot. Additionally, can go into a “keep warm” setting when done cooking. As the rice can take quite a bit of time to cook (45 – 90 minutes depending on amount and type). So, you’ll want to start this way before your meal. The overall build quality is excellent. It is very simple to navigate seeing as it is a touch screen. You have a button on the top to open the lid which does automatically lift. Then you’ve got some removable parts depending on the dish/rice and things to clean. Everything comes apart and back together easily. The unit itself is very quiet when cooking. Where I didn’t even hear it except for the occasional puff of steam through the hole on the top. Cleaning up was easy. Power cord is short, mostly for safety reasons to prevent it from being pulled out accidentally. In general, was impressed with the safety features. The unit itself didn’t get hot to the touch. But did get slightly warm after about an 60 – 75 minutes. Overall size is good. Really no complaints.

Super simple and extremely easy to use. It’s also the sleekest, nicest looking one I’ve seen as well. It’s not too big that it’ll take up a lot of space on your countertops. It has a nice touchscreen to boot. There is no on or off button so when you plug it in, it’s automatically on but it won’t start until you press one of the many options. It’s not a smart rice cooker so if you’re looking for one with an app, this isn’t it. I don’t think that it’s even necessary. Everything doesn’t require an app, especially rice, lol. I’m pretty darn good at making rice in a regular pot so I didn’t have high expectations but it’s great. I’ve looked at rice cookers before, more-so for the hubs, but I’ve found them to be too small. This can make 10 cups which is overkill for a smaller family but having the option to make larger pots of rice for special occasions or when hubs makes his pork belly fried rice dish and there’s never enough because it’s so gosh darn delicious. My favorite part of this is that everything on the inside is dishwasher safe. But even easier to clean by hand. The rice came out so fluffy and delicious. We enjoy more aromatic rice like basmati and jasmine and it cooked perfectly. I’m confident that this can take over the task of cooking rice which isn’t difficult but it opens up more room and prep time for other items in a meal. You can also steam, slow cook, and make oatmeal.

The Cosori 5 Qt Rice Cooker is my first new rice cooker in a long time. Its five quart capacity is nice and large though takes up quite a bit of countertop space (10” W x 12” L x 9” H). With the spring lid open (not removable), the height is around 19 inches and may not fit underneath cabinetry. The design is sleek and modern with a flat top, large touch-screen control panel, and smooth sides. The unit is fairly light at 8.5 lbs without any food in it and the handholds on the bottom make it convenient to move around. When idle for more than 5 minutes, it will automatically go into sleep mode and simply displays “start” on the control panel. What’s interesting about this rice cooker is that there are 9 different modes, three of which are for rice: white, brown, and quick, as well as other cooking functions like steam, slow cook, sauté, oatmeal, multigrain, and keep warm. When making Jasmine rice, it took about 50 minutes to cook after preheating for 10 minutes. The “white rice” mode cooked it thoroughly and perfectly fluffy. Any rice can be made in a little less time with “quick rice” mode, which saves about 10 minutes, however, may result in a harder textured rice. I loved that there’s an oatmeal setting that can also be used for rice porridge, as I make both of these quite frequently. After cooking is completed, the unit automatically enters “keep warm” mode and can hold the temperature up to 24 hours. You can also set a delayed start on the unit up to 24 hours to perfectly time your meals to be ready when you arrive home. The unit comes with a plastic steamer basket insert which is thick and durable. There are small handles on the sides to help you lift it out of the cooker easily, and it is deep enough (3 inches) to steam a decent quantity of food, like veggies, which can be done at the same time as cooking your rice. I also really like steaming whole eggs this way as I find you can control the final texture of them (hard or soft) better than with boiling. The inner pot is non-stick and has water level markings for different food quantities when using the various modes. These are convenient for adding the right amount of water without measuring. However, the smallest quantities marked are 2 cups of dry grain, so if you need to make less, for example 1 cup of rice for one or two servings, you’ll have to calculate the water amount accordingly and the ratios are listed in the manual. The maximum capacity is 10 cups of dry grain which makes up to 5 quarts cooked. I also really like the included scoop as it feels durable, is scratch-free, and stands up on its end, keeping the paddle off your counters without a hanger protruding from the machine. The unit makes very loud beeps when you power it on, select functions on the screen, and also after preheating and cooking. This helps ensure that you hear its alerts but you cannot change the volume level or turn it off. The unit is not “smart” so there’s no Bluetooth pairing or remote control/monitoring; however, Cosori has a smartphone app, VeSync, where you can browse recipes to make in the cooker. There is also a full-color recipe book with 10 recipes to get you started making delicious meals in the cooker. For Sauté mode, the unit pre-heats quickly in about 3 minutes, and I was able to brown ground beef in the unit in about 5 minutes. The nice part about cooking in the pot is that the walls are high so there’s little spatter outside of the unit for easier cleanup. Just remember not to use metal utensils in it to avoid scratching the non-stick coating. When the lid is opened after cooking, there’s a drip tray along the back to collect any condensation that may run off the inner lid. The inner pot and inner lid are easily removed for cleaning, and a condensation cup is hidden behind the inner lid that captures a couple tablespoons of condensation while cooking; any overflow simply drips back into the vessel without making a mess on your countertop. Note that the cooker lid cannot be closed without the inner lid installed. My only complaint is that since the steam vent is located on top of the lid towards the back, when used on my countertops it steams up the face of my cabinets. Instead, I have to use this machine on the kitchen table so the moisture won’t affect my cabinetry. Otherwise, I’m pretty happy with this rice cooker. It’s simple to use, makes great rice and other grains, and is multi-functional as a steamer, slow cooker, or sauté pan.

Flexible and Easy to Use Rice Cooker

The Cosori 5-quart Rice Cooker is an excellent addition to our kitchen. Our old rice cooker died, and the Cosori is doing a great job replacing it and adding more flexibility. After the initial cleaning and the recommended steam test, we cooked one cup of washed Calrose white rice. It took a little over 30 minutes. The rice quality was perfect and did not stick to the container. We then used the Cosori to steam fresh broccoli. I set the timer for 7 minutes, and the broccoli was tender and tasty. I’m still getting used to all the different settings. It is easy to use and intuitive. The alert tone is clear and distinct without being too piercing. I did discover a few quirks with the cooker. I accidentally pressed the start button while moving the cooker, and all the front controls lit up. There was no way to turn it back off. It eventually turned itself off. When I washed the internal components, including the inner lid, and waited for them to dry, I could not close the top lid. For one meal, I wanted to delay the start of steam cooking by five minutes to match when the main course would be ready, but I could not set the start delay below 17 minutes. These are all minor quirks. Pros • Controls are intuitive and easy to use. • Delay start can be set up to 24 hours. • It can keep rice warm for 24 hours. • Non-stick inner pot. • Includes 2.3-quart steam basket, rice paddle, measuring cup, user manual, and recipe book. • Quick-start instructions via packaging and peel-off label. • Easy to remove and clean the inner lid. • Slow cook mode. • Steam cook mode. Cons • You can’t set the start delay to less than 17 minutes. • It can’t turn off immediately if it starts pressed by accident. • You can’t close the lid if the inner lid is removed. Cooking of: • White rice, short/med./long grain • Brown rice, short/med./long grain • Quinoa, Barley, Farro grains • Oatmeal, Steel-cut, Rolled, Porridge, Quick-cook • Steaming, Sauté, and Slow-cooking Summary Overall, I am happy with the Cosori 5-quart Rice Cooker. Aside from the minor quirks, the flexibility of various cooking options makes this a versatile appliance for our kitchen.

Multipurpose Rice Cooker/Steamer - works well

The Cosori five-quart rice cooker includes a nine in one touch control on the front panel, which is a bit more basic than the previous model which seemed to be a bit of overkill control wise. This unit has “advanced fuzzy logic controls” which if you look up the definition basically means this unit adapts and has a few different cooking stages depending on what setting you press on the front panel. The controls also provide a plus and minus button to change some of the preset parameters to meet your needs as will as a multi-function time display. Unpacking the unit was simple and like any other cooking appliance you should really wash the components with a mild soap and water. For this unit that included washing the nonstick inner pot which primarily where the food is cooked in this unit. Also, the unit also comes with a basket if you choose to steam a vegetable or something similar. I also cleaned the removable inner lid which contains a steam cap and release mechanism. In addition, I cleaned the inside of the unit with a damp paper towel. The instructions and quick start guide provided clear directions on getting to know the rice cooker. The user manual also mentioned to run the unit through a steam cycle without food first to familiarize you with the operation of the rice cooker (also it helps eliminate some of the odors associated with manufacturing the unit). Also provided within the user manual was a table on how to cook certain items which I found useful and straightforward. We initially only cooked a cup of long grain white rice to see how it did, the guide stated that should take between thirty-five and forty five minutes, however the rice cooked more quickly than that and the time display on the front panel gradually indicated a even quicker cooking time (perhaps fuzzy logic) ? As for the rice, it was moist, and I fluffed it up with the provided standing rice paddle yielding a really well cooked and fluffy white rice. You can also set a delay timer of up to a twenty-four hours if you want to coordinate cooking just before you arrive home. Also, after the cooking cycle is complete the unit will enter a keep warm mode. I am looking forward to steaming some vegetables with the 2.3 quart steam basket. As well as cooking some Long Grain Brown Rice, Jasmine White rice and especially some steel cut oatmeal, all of which sound promising. As for the unit itself, it seems well built and includes several different items including a measuring cup (which for some odd reason had lines but no measurement units) a recipe book, the earlier mentioned steam basket and the rice paddle. Overall, I am looking forward to using my first ever rice cooker even more, expanding into other cooking use cases. >>> Pros >> simple to operate, with not an overabundance of unneeded settings or controls >> BPA Free materials (for items which have a food contacting surface). >> two year warranty >> Fuzzy Logic seemed to lead to good results <<< Cons << I might prefer a metal based steam basket like a previous model >> States it is BPA free (cooking surfaces), but appears a sticker was added to the box with the warning from the State of California that this product can expose you to lead and BPA, so I am a bit confused. Recently there was an article in Consumer reports on plastics and food contamination, so I am and have always been hyper vigilant regarding this, ensuring I never microwave food in plastic containers. So, I may need to inquire with Cosori on more detail about this unit in regards to food safety.

A Whole New World Of Better Rice

I've been testing the Cosori 5-Quart rice cooker for about a week now, and I absolutely love it! Inside the box, I found the rice cooker itself, a spatula, a steamer tray, a measuring cup, and various documentation. In my house, the Cosori rice cooker is replacing an 8-year-old rice cooker that served me well. I was expecting similar results, but instead, I was introduced to a whole new world of better rice. When I say better, I mean there was no stickiness or mushiness to the grains. Each grain had the perfect texture and consistency. Even after dinner, the Cosori kept the leftover rice warm and ready to serve. The Cosori is also very easy to use. In my testing, I used Goya Canilla long-grain rice. I measured the rice with the included cup, rinsing it until the water ran clear. Then, I added water to the fill line and pressed the long-grain rice button. The display initially said it would take 50 minutes, but I felt like the cooking was done in even less time. This rice cooker also has other amazing functions. Since it's 5-quarts, I can make enough rice to feed a small army. It can also sanitize, steam vegetables, cook oatmeal, and quinoa. Cleanup was a breeze. The inner pot is non-stick, and the lid seal was easy to remove. Both are dishwasher-safe, but I prefer the old-school sink-washing method. With all that said, I can't believe how fantastic this rice cooker is. I highly recommend it!

This is an amazing rice cooker. It was finally time to replace my old one, and oh boy, what I have been missing out. To start with, its a great size, up to 5 quarts. They include all what it's needed to get you started. A little cup to measure rice, a scooper and a plate with holes if you want to steam cook (and let me tell you all these accessories are made of a nice thick plastic, my old ones feel like toys compared to these ones). They include a nice detailed manual and also a recipe book. Upon first use you should wash the pot and accessories, as this will remove any leftovers from manufacturing, they also recommend on the manual to do a test run with a fake steam cook (I guess to sanitize and remove any lingering odors or oils from manufacturing too). Once that is done its ready to be used. I love the huge touch screen, its clear to understand and use. I has several settings like for white rice, brown rice, quick rice, sautee, steam. The manual tells you how much rice and water you need for your cooking needs. I have cooked so far long grain rice, Jasmine and Basmati and they all came out perfect. It has a time counter and it will tell you how much time until your rice is done (I noticed it starts high, but once starts cooking it will adjust itself to a lower time, depending on how much rice you are cooking, I guess it senses it once it starts). The only con I could find is that they do not include like a plastic lid, kind if when you make a lot of rice and you want to store it in the fridge to cover the pot itself. So you either cover it with something of your own or make enough rice for your day and don't have any left overs... Other than that its a perfect modern rice cooker, I highly recommend it!!!

Rice is a staple food for many cultures. That means many customers use rice cookers, and a cooker like this is a good start. The Cosori 9-in-1 5qt Rice Cooker is an excellent gift for a housewarming or any beginner in the kitchen. My initial thoughts after unpacking and set up were beautiful, modern, and intuitive. Premium internals make this worth its weight in gold. There are no metal accents, just quality plastic construction without feeling cheap. The inner bowl is a thick, premium, non-stick (ceramic-like) and maybe laser-etched scale for measuring various cooking ingredients. Everything is ready out of the box, and you rinse and steam to prep for the first use. The rice scoop is self-standing, so you don't need to lay it anywhere, as there isn't a holder built into this one. With sleek modern aesthetics, this will fit into any kitchen with class. 9-in-1 functionality adds value here for your purchase. Not only cook rice, cook oats and other grains, steam veggies, keep food warm, delay cooking, and make quick rice. Easy to clean and built with the health consciousness in mind - BPA-Free! Performance The display is large and easy to read with backlit touch buttons. Time is saved, and the guesswork is gone through the intuitive button layout. Fuzzy Logic just makes sense of the settings and adapts to your rice of choice. Long Grain, Jasmine, Basmati, Short Grain, and Brown Rice cook perfectly fine using your preset settings. Cooking is relative, so you must experiment to find your favorite settings, but the default is a solid start. The temperature and cooking time are managed by excellent internals for simplicity and perfect rice every time. With its modularity, everything that matters is removable and washable. Non-stick performs well and the disassembly process is easy to handle. In most cases, cooking was done faster than the projected timer at the start by around 10 minutes. Fuzzy Logic processing adjusted accordingly based on detected rice amounts and rice type chosen. All the rice was soft and cooked all the way through. I love the one-button press to open, the self-standing rice scoop, and the multiple measuring marks for various foods. The contrasting white letters to the dark bowl make it easier to read. However, I do wish it was embossed in case the white is not laser etched and rubs off. This is a solid performer, and I nitpicked this one since it was priced right. Suggestions Emboss Bowl - laser etch is nice, what if it rubs off? Raised scales will show lines longer. Cord Management - Retractable cords or removable cords would be nice. Fine-Tune Controls - allow for adjustments after starting cooking. Metal Basket - including a metal basket would be nice but I can see if this is reserved for the higher-end models. Things to Know The innovation is exciting but lacking some things for me. From the easy 1-touch lid with a removable top plate and integrated steam basin, sealed by premium silicone, is stylin' in the elegant "dark mode" interface while checking a lot of boxes. With that being said, there are things I want you to know. There is no cord management. You get short cord, so you are stuck with the length provided along with the Velcro strap. There is no way to adjust anything once cooking starts; any changes must be made during setting. There are REALLY LOUD and annoying beeps that result in any button presses and beeps when powered on. There is no mute setting for the beeps, so you will just get used to it. This for me is a nice addition to any rice chefs kitchen for a set it and forget it way to keep rice ready always. Easy to use, quality-built, this will help you take one thing off your menu prep list. Check it out and you may like it!

I recently got the Cosori 5.0-Quart Rice Cooker, and let me tell you, it's like a tank in the kitchen! This rice cooker has won me over with its thoughtful design and incredible performance. One of the standout features that I absolutely love is how easy it is to disassemble the lid for cleaning. In the past, I've had my fair share of struggles with rice cookers that were a pain to clean, but not this one! So much thought has been put into the design and it looks great even if you need to leave it out - which you will because of how often you will be using it. The buttons on the front panel are responsive and user-friendly, making it a breeze to navigate through the seemingly endless cooking functions. And speaking of cooking functions, the Cosori Rice Cooker comes loaded with nine of them! Say goodbye to the days of overcooked rice because this cooker delivers perfect results every time. But what really sets this rice cooker apart is its versatility. I've used it for so much more than just making rice. It's become my go-to appliance for steaming veggies, and I've even tried my hand at slow-cooked meals with success. It's like having a multi-functional kitchen companion right at my fingertips. I have 3 kiddos at home and anything that helps make dinner time easier is easily worth its weight in gold around my house. From its 5.0-quart capacity to the touch control interface and the included measuring cup with a handle, Cosori has thought of everything. The build quality is solid, and it feels like a durable, long-lasting kitchen appliance. Cosori is not a brand that I'm too familiar with but I will be keeping an eye out for some of their other small appliances. Don’t sleep on this one. I can't say enough good things about the Cosori 5.0-Quart Rice Cooker. It's easy to clean, delivers perfectly cooked rice, and offers a wide range of cooking functions that make it a versatile addition to any kitchen. Whether you're a rice enthusiast or someone who loves to experiment with different dishes, this rice cooker has got you covered. I'm thoroughly impressed with this product, and I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable and feature-packed rice cooker. The only reason I could not give it top marks is because I feel that it does take a bit longer to reach temp than I was expecting. It’s by no means a deal breaker but something that could be improved down the road.

Cosori Rice Cooker is one of the easiest slow cookers to use with very few settings to get confused. With 3x settings for rice, slow cooker, and steam. Setting up wasn’t difficult to do and appreciate the convenience of washing the lid. This is quite a large rice cooker but it's half the size of most pressure cookers that I have. The settings on the cooker are touch-sensitive. I’m very proud Cosori also included a cookbook that helps out cooking for the slow cooker and steamer. (The cookbook doesn’t have a standard Beef Stew recipe. But I used the settings for Beef and Broccoli instead and it came out excellent.) The food cooks fast and comes out very tasty and it’s easy to wash out. This company knows convenience from my initial impressions and their product gets straight to the point. It’s not anything to dislike here because it cooks rice perfectly each time. Steam / Slow Cooker settings make delicious and delightful meals. The Rice Cooker also comes with a Steam basket and spoon for the rice. If you are terrible at making rice, this is the easiest way to do it. 5/5 stars.

Do you want the perfect rice or oatmeal? Well, this rice cooker should pique your interest. I have had the chance to use this rice cooker for the past couple of days and so far, it has been an extremely convenient tool. Along with the convenience, this rice cooker is easy to use! Let’s start with what you get inside the box. You will get a nonstick inner pot, inner lid, steam basket, standing rice paddle, measuring cup, user manual, and recipe book. If you own a pressure cooker or air fryer. This is about the same quality and looks almost the same as an air fryer. But the major difference is this rice cooker has an LED timer with haptic buttons below. The buttons are responsive, and the screen doesn’t seem to be much of a fingerprint magnet. There is a physical button on the top that you press when you want to open the rice cooker. The detailed user manual and recipe book are certainly an underrated part of this product. The user manual gives you the exact number of cups to water ratio for whatever you throw into the pot. The result is the perfect rice or oatmeal. No more worrying about dry rice or slushy oatmeal! The recipe book does have plenty of recipes that aren’t just rice or oatmeal. I did not get a chance to try them out but will eventually get to it when all the ingredients are gathered. Some delicious-looking ones are the breakfast scramble, broccoli beef, and chicken curry! Additionally, Cosori offers tips and tricks on how to best care for this product within the manual. Now, how does this compare to microwavable oatmeal or rice cooked from an actual pot? I would say about the same assuming you didn’t make any mistakes. The neat thing about this rice cooker is that you seriously have to try hard to mess your food up. I enjoy meal prepping so having a set-it-and-forget-it product like this is nice to have. One less food item to worry about while meal prepping! Overall, this is a neat rice cooker that is easy to use and convenient. Better yet, this is relatively cheap for everything that it does. No issues were found except the cumbersome clean-up after making a great meal. (Clean-up is actually easy) If you are in search of a rice cooker, I wholeheartedly recommend you give this one a try!

Works well, but less versatile than other products

I’ve had a Ninja Food Multi use air fryer for some time now. And while it has a pressure cooker/steam function, I’ve always been less than impressed with the rice. Maybe it’s user error, maybe not. So I’ve been on the lookout for a dedicated rice cooker. For those that want something a little more versatile than a one trick pony (i.e. only making rice) you’re in luck as the Cosori rice cooker does have several cooking modes, but it’s less versatile than other models as previously mentioned, like Ninja and Instant Pot. IN THE BOX Included in the package is the inner metal pot, a rice spoon, measuring cup, and plastic steam basket. The rice cooker has a decent sized footprint but it’s not too tall. It feels a bit smaller than an Instant Pot (or about the same size) but is significantly smaller than my Ninja Foodi combo unit I previously mentioned. It looks attractive enough (not countertop cooking device is truly attractive, but this one isn’t offensive if you left it out). It’s streamlined and sleek. But that’s always a matter of personal preference. SETUP AND USE If you've owned other rice cookers, air fryers or pressure cookers, you'll find using the Cosori rice cooker familiar. It's not unlike other kitchen appliances in terms of the pieces/accessories and how you use it. There's the inner metal pot where you put water and rice, or water and oatmeal, or the steam basket and then close the lid and select your cooking option. As with most kitchen products, you should clean the accessories before first using them, and it’s even suggested that you operate it without any food. Before getting to the quality of the food it makes, I first want to speak to the instruction manual. I’m no chef, sure I have a few recipes that are my thing, but for the most part, I rely on good instructions. I found the instructions to be extremely confusing. I’m not talking about the “how to clean it” part of the instructions, but specifically, the ratio of rice to water. Now, maybe it makes sense to others but I really struggled getting the right ratio. Part of it is because of the reference to the word “cup” in the quick reference chart. For example, when cooking white rice long grain, there’s a 1:1.25 grain to water ratio. But then there’s a reference to cups. And then on the inside of the metal pot, there’s numbers/lines imprinted on the inside to help you figure out how much water to use. But one “cup” of rice is not a true one cup - it’s the measuring cup included. And the amount of water, is it one true “cup” (8 ounces) or a cup of water? I found it extremely confusing to figure this out. Especially because I typically only make one cup of rice at a time. There are no water level markings in the pot for making only one cup of rice, so that requires looking at the quick reference chart to figure out the ratio. To me, this makes kitchen appliances confusing (maybe I’m in the minority). But luckily, there’s some wiggle room. If your ratio is a little off it’s typically not a big deal, but my first batch of rice was thrown out because I didn’t have enough water. Someone else might pick this up and thinks it makes perfect sense, or has previous knowledge of how to use it and will know the ratios out of the gate, but I struggled. As previously mentioned, this isn’t strictly a rice cooker, but that’s all I use it for (as I said, I wanted a dedicated rice cooker). It has a slow cook function (I’m guess like a crockpot?), steam, saute and keep warm. It also has a delay timer which I think is really useful given how long it takes to cook; you can prepare things in advance (up to 24 hours) and set it to begin cooking later that day or the next day, so it’s ready when you need it. I can’t tell you how many times I decide I want rice right then but realize it takes a while to cook and I choose something else. Speaking of amount of time cooking. This is not a pressure cooker that pumps out rice in 12-15 minutes. It takes about 45 minutes to cook one cup of long white rice. That’s not really a knock, but it’s something you need to keep in mind. That’s why I said the timer function is so nice, like a crockpot, I can set it to cook rice in advance so it’s ready when I’m ready to eat it at a later time. And you’ll notice that the countdown is ever changing, it’s an estimated time to cook. So it might start by saying 50 minutes, but it might not actually take that long. The fluctuation in time hasn’t caused me any issues in terms of the timing of food prep. QUALITY OF FOOD I’ve had soft pillowy, sticky rice before. Which I love. My Ninja Foodi just couldn’t replicate that. But the Cosori consistently put out fluffy rice which is what I am looking for. I haven’t tried oatmeal yet - which I’m interested in doing, if I can figure out the water to oatmeal ratio - but in terms of the quality of the rice it’s terrific IMO. It does tend to get a little more firm/hard if you eat it long after its done cooking while it’s staying warm, but I’ve yet to have a bad batch (other than my first attempt which was part user error and part confusion). My only other comment is that it makes a lot of rice. I have a family of 5, and it makes ample rice for us, we always have extra. I assume it’s meant for a family of 4, but to me, it makes way more than that, we could probably feed 8 people when filling it to capacity. Finally, the accessories and pot are all dishwasher safe, which makes cleaning a breeze.

This rice cooker has been a great add to my kitchen accessories. Our family has rice or a similar grain at least twice a week. The timing of cooking rice without a rice cooker has been hit or miss for me. I either under cook it and its hard or over cook it and it turns to paste. This cooker removes all questioning on if the grain is cooked or not with pre-set cooking limited broken out by grain. It breaks apart easily and reassembles just as easy. Cleaning is a bit annoying as the non-stick coated inner tray should not go into the dishwasher, but besides that its a breeze to use. One nice touch about the inner tray is that there are markings on how much water to add for each respective quantity of grain. This removes all question about if I am preparing it correctly or not. Once the water and grain are added in the inner pot its as easy as closing the lid and hitting the correct grain button on the touch screen... and that's its! The cooker has a countdown and beeps when its done. All in all, this cooker is a piece of cake to use, and has a nice breakdown on how to prepare each grain. These combined make this item near fail proof to use. The product it output (so far) are top notch and cooked to perfection!

To call this a “5.0-quart rice cooker” doesn’t do it justice. There are program options for preparing Quick Rice, White Rice and Brown Rice, there are also options to Steam, Slow Cook, Sauté, Oatmeal, Multigrain (such as quinoa) and Keep Warm. There’s also a manual control to Keep Warm, but the unit also defaults to that once the cooking is complete for every setting except Sauté. The unit comes with a non-stick inner pot, a 2.3 quart steam basket, measuring cup and a standing rice paddle. Having used many different rice cookers in the past, this one is by far the easiest to clean with every part easily detachable for cleaning. And it has one of the best steam management systems that is essential to proper cooking. Additionally, there’s a delay timer that can delay start times up to 24 hours, and the keep warm function also lasts for 24 hours but they don’t recommend keeping rice more than 5 hours. There’s an accompanying recipe book with detailed cooking instructions and 12 recipes, and other recipes are available via a QR Code.

This is a very nice looking rice cooker that can handle making a very large amount of rice, as well as other foods with the options of choice it provides. Pros: bright easy to use menu screen many different options to choose from (White, Brown, Steam, Slow cook, Saute, Oatmeal, Multigrain, warmer) offers a delay timer to start unit very large capacity cooker (10 cups of rice can be cooked at a time) includes steam basket and large rice spoon, and small cup quick to setup cons the cup that is included didnt seem to meaure out to a full cup for me against any of my measuring cups i have currently, so i would not use this included cup to be honest, but i mean outside of this minor gripe there really isnt anything i can say i didnt like about the unit itself. overall, this is a great rice cooker, with a large capacity pan. The unit heats up fairly quickly and everything i have made so far (white, brown, wild rice blend) have turned out darn near perfect. the cleanup of the unit is super easy as well after each batch of rice. i would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a multifunctioning rice cooker, you wont be dissapointed.

The cooking technology is becoming more a more elaborated and this is probably the best rice cooker that I ever owned. The assumption of all previous models that one cooking program is enough for all kinds of rice, or the user preference for texture is the same around the world is wrong. Welcome to the best and most versatile tool for cooking all your grains! I, absolutely, Love it. Elegant and stylish in design, just by unboxing the Cosori- 5.0- Quart Rice Cooker, you can see that the manufacturer is taking pride in the tool. Elegant and integrated touch controls in the front panel are just nice. The initial reaction to having so many options placed for programming the cooking was a misperception. Once you plan your first meal, is in fact a very smart placement of the cooking settings with an autoguided programing process. On top of that 5-quart seems to be more than enough for a large family, which should be close to 10 cups. The great combination of types of grains, oatmeal (I haven’t tested this one), and functions, are the guarantee of a cooking level that will make you happy. I also, like the traditional (I call it) “no brain option” for including the kids in the cooking. This is as simple as riz, water, and a “quick rice” button. The machine beep will call them when ready. As diverse as the cooking options, I am positively surprised by the additional functions that are adapted to a family with different schedules with most of us out of the house during the day. For instance: .- Great to be able to schedule the cooking time. In my case means adding water and rice in the morning and programming the tool to end just 15 min earlier than my theoretical arrival home. .- Great to have the keep warm function, not all of the family members arrive at the same time, and perhaps the commute forces you to arrive later. Note that if you are, as I am, picky with your rice texture, I recommend playing with the keep warm time to be sure that your hard option is not too soft. Easy to clean, most of the components: the measuring cup, the rice paddle, the steam basket, and particularly the inner pot are dishwasher safe. I also appreciate that you add something to your rice like some sauteed vegetables, this can be prepared also in the pot before adding the rice, you need to use fewer pots. Because of the steam vent placement (top towards the back), I am still considering the best placement in the kitchen. This is quite standard (at least similar to my previous rice cooker) but because of the size, the level of steam seems to be more noticeable. Most of the time stay on the kitchen island. Two additional elements are included. One is the recipes book that could expand your family recipes and perhaps include new grains in your diet. The second nice element is the two-year manufacturer guarantee when normally those daily used products are covered by a basic one year.

Versatile Cooker that Makes Perfect Rice

I got my Cosori 5qt rice cooker about a week ago and after using it a few times, I’d say it’s a solid choice for a versatile rice cooker. If you only want a rice cooker, and don’t care about getting it set perfectly for your tastes, there are probably better options for you. You can get cheaper, super basic rice only, 1 touch cookers that are fine. But this device goes a bit beyond that and has been giving us excellent results. You can quickly dial in various types of rice and other grains such as quinoa and oatmeal into the intuitive controls. To make a batch of white long grain rice on the slower setting takes close to an hour. That is nearly twice as long as our basic rice cooker, but the results are noticeably better. Quick setting is just under 40 minutes and seems just slightly less fluffy, but still excellent. We also used it to sauté some beef, cook rice and steam some broccoli to make some incredibly tasty broccoli beef. Though time consuming to do it all on this single device, the results were fantastic. There is also a keep warm setting and a delay timer. The overall design of the cooker is aesthetically pleasing with a black, clean modern look. The control button layout is nice and the timer is big and easy to read from across the room. The lid locking mechanism feels well designed. And perhaps most important to me, it cleans up easy. The non stick bowl and lid both are easily removed and cleaned. Overall I think this cooker is a solid choice. It could be used as a nice multifunctional device for a cramped space such as a dorm room. Or still find value in a larger kitchen where probably wont gets as much out of its multi use features but still produce perfectly cooked rice and grains. I’m giving this device a sold 5* rating and would absolutely recommend it to a friend.

This rice cooker is a welcome addition to my array of small kitchen appliances. It is really very versatile in that many more things than just rice can be prepared with it, and a recipe book is included to get you started. I started, of course, by making plain white long grain rice. The process couldn’t be simpler. Add water, add rice, close lid, push a couple of buttons, and 20 or so minutes later, you have perfect rice. Be careful to not do what I almost did. I’ve prepared white rice on the stovetop since forever, and I’ve always done it with the 2 to 1 ratio of water to rice (2 cups water, 1 cup rice) in a closed saucpan. But the procedure included with this rice cooker uses a much smaller ratio of 1.25 to 1, and that puzzled me. Won’t the rice be to too dry and hard? I was almost tempted to try it with the 2 to 1 ratio, but my son-in-law, who happened to be visiting that day, stopped me and told me that his mother tried it this way in a rice cooker, and the result was a disastrous mush. So I did it as prescribed, and the rice was perfect. Not too dry. Not too wet. Nice and fluffy. I’ve also tried one other recipe so far, the breakfast scramble, which is essentially scrambled eggs with bacon and several vegetables mixed in. Not an omelet. Turned out to be excellent, and it takes only ten minutes to make. I plan to try many more recipes in this unit. I’m very pleased with it.

Cooking rice really isn't a complicated task - water, rice, and heat is all that's needed. For those that don't regularly cook rice then an extra hand in how to prepare it is nice feature. I grew up when we used to cook it on the stove. Eat the rice with our meals and eat the crunchy carmelized/scorched rice as a snack, called nurunji in Korean. I kind of miss that part of getting the nurunji after cooking rice after we switched to rice cookers, but using a cooker means you don't have to babysit your cooking any more. The Corsori is more than just a rice cooker, but I'd have to take some time off of cooking rice to test the other features. We make rice almost daily in my household so it stays in use. I'd love to test the steel cut oats feature once I can sneak in a pot. I love to order another pot just for the other features. Making short grain white rice is simple. Fill the amount needed, wash the rice, add water. There are lines to help you judge how much water to fill, but I still go by the old "pinky finger" guide and it lines up right to where the pot has it! The Corsori doesn't rely on pressure, so cooking time is around 30-60 minutes depending on serving size which is normal. Loving the Corsori rice cooker and looking forward to another bowl tonight to go with my orange chicken.
