Powerful Microsoft Groove Music iPod Equivalent

I bought this phone to be a WiFi only music player for use with the Microsoft Groove music service and installed a 128GB MicroSD card for lots of storage. I really couldn't be happier. Once the phone arrived, I installed the "Windows Insider" app and upgraded it to Windows Phone 10 flawlessly. Then I uninstalled just about every app that I could, turned off tons of extraneous settings, turned on battery saver mode, went into storage and set save locations to the SD card, got on my WiFi network, then downloaded tons of music for offline playback from Groove. Once all my music was on, go into airplane mode for maximum battery life! I can't recommend this enough. It has great battery life, is light, has tons of storage, and only cost $30 + $50 for the SD card. Throw in some decent SkullCandy ear buds for $15, and you have a 128GB Microsoft Groove Music iPod equivalent for less than $100. The groove music service is an additional $99/year for unlimited streaming and offline listening. I'm a big fan of several underground genres including industrial, goth, synth/future pop, ebm, ambient, noise, etc. I've compared the availability of underground music in Groove Music with Amazon Prime Music, and Groove has tons more obscure artists, hands down. This phone sounds fantastic, partly because it has the added bonus of a 7-band equalizer in the settings. The equalizer has presets or can be manually set. There is also a virtual surround sound option for headphones. The battery can also be removed and replaced, which is a nice bonus. If you choose to activate the phone with Cricket, it's $40/month for unlimited everything including 4G data. The data speed just drops to 3G after the first 1.5GB of mobile 4G data that you use. Incredible speed, power, battery life, and price. You can't go wrong with this setup!

Although not as popular as the Android or iOS phones, Windows Phone or Mobile as they are calling it now is still the best phone for the money. No contract and you own the phone for less than $30.00. Although the built in RAM is only 8GB, easily solved with a 128GB SD Card. Records video at 1080p, the camera is sufficient for most with a flash and front facing camera.

    Unbeatable Phone

No where else can you find such a value in a cell phone. Quad core processor, removable battery, expandable memory, vivid, big screen, responsive touch, windows office, Microsoft maps, Cortana, OS upgradable now to windows 10. The unit multitasks without stutter, charges in less than an hour, Bluetooth is fast and solid too. Only con for some is limited app store. For those who value a solid phone, with great volume and all the above, for under $30, run and get it now before they are gone. Microsoft is getting out of the phone biz, so I expect this bonanza to end soon. The OS is never sluggish as windows is optimized for mobile unlike android, If you update to win 10, do it first or back up your data to the cloud, I had to reinstall my contacts, and a few pictures. All my apps work with 10 and a new one that didn't with 8.1. The only apps I added are Runtastic, Spotify, Pandora, Duolingo, Waze, OBD car diagnostic, Amazon, and a Password Manager. The camera is sensitive and versatile. The live tiles give breaking news, weather, messages and other data at a glance, apple and android have nothing like it. You could spend $500 on a phone and not enjoy all these features!

The phone is faster than Android not as feature packed nor app packed as Android but is a good device with a nice design (still prefer Android's) The camera is $hît 100% the worst 8.0 megapixel camera I have ever seen and worst than most if not all 5.0 megapixel Android cameras definitely expected a lot more. One of the worst cameras I have seen in a phone as well not joking ONE of the worst not the worst. Over all a good phone.

Despite the fact the Windows app store is relatively sparse, the Lumia 640 is a great bargain. It has decent specs for the price, a nice display, and a really good camera. Also, the Windows 8.1 OS is easy to use and the phone comes with a mobile version of MS Office and some nice stock Lumia apps. So if you are a mature adult that doesn't need to hunt for Pokémon or you are very business oriented, this phone just might be for you.

If you're reading this, you are knowingly or unknowingly looking at the best value in the cell phone market. I am not a Windows fan, and I generally detest Microsoft as a company. But when it comes to touch-screen cell phones, Windows 8.1 and 10 got it right. Using this phone is very intuitive, much more-so in my opinion than my Iphone or my android phones. The battery lasts for days. I chuckle to myself when I see Iphone and Samsung users scrambling at airports and other public places to recharge their battery. With this Lumia 640, you can relax. I like to use dedicated devices like cameras and GPS's but this phone takes excellent photos. It does not have nearly as many apps available as the other two operating systems, but if you use your phone mainly for going online, and for talking and texting (remember those uses?!) this is one to consider. And at the Best Buy price of about $30, they're giving it away! This is the one the crowd missed. If I lose or drop my Lumia 640 in a puddle, I just replace it with a new one. No sweating or fretting!

    Cool Windows 10 phone

I upgraded to Windows 10 right away, and was using it as WIFI-only device (without SIM). Very sleek, with long battery life. Less choice of APPs than Apple or Android, but most of the apps I normally use were readily available, including free MS office. Just bought another at $26 sale price and happy about both purchasses

Comes with 8.1 but it can upgrade to Win10. Can't be unlocked for free like the ATT version. Also NO free Office like the ATT version. Great backup phone to do my windows apps.

Great value for the money. Smartphone has gorilla glass providing durability. Both the selfie camera and back camera provide clear crisp photographs and I like the windows 10 compatibility with my desktop computer. As a basic smartphone that does all the basics you need and provides a great value at the 30 dollar pricepoint I purchased this phone at, it is the best value out there for the money.

i wanted a windows phone but didn't want to spend alot of money so i picked this one up and its been very nice. Im a android phone guy but useing this was very easy to learn. The phone it self is pretty fast and the nav on it is nice and smooth. But the phone does lack in apps. So if ur going for this phone just b worn that its not a android or apple so ur favorite app mite not be on here. Overall the phone is a great phone for a kid or someone not looking for to many features.

I previously owned a Windows phone for 3 years and liked the simplicity of the interface, the way you could lay out everything in grid formation. My Mom is not tech savvy so she doesn't need something overcomplicated and while I eventually verged away from Windows and back to Android, my Mom liked the simplicity of this Windows phone, and also the size and color were a plus. She's had it about three years now and it is sturdy and has had no problems with it. Unfortunately it looks like Windows phones are becoming an endangered species in the tech world. If you enjoy uncluttered, durable products and aren't concerned with app availability, this is the phone for you!

Good , solid phone. Well worth the money. I bought it for my 15 year old, he loved it. The only issue was maybe not as many apps as he would have liked. But good camera, and good buy for the $.
