This game is a total different experience. And is this new fresh take on Open world gaming that makes it so unique and interesting. You have to play it in order to get it. The production value of this game is off the charts. Very happy with this new take on gaming, especially when you see other players providing items and using items you provided. Very engaging. Special edition steelbook is really cool. Highly recommend this game.

This game is a unique journey that you must take. The visuals are breathtaking, story is compelling and the soundtrack immersed me into it’s world. It’s a slow burn, but if you give this game a little time, it is well worth the payoff! I found myself wanting to come back for more!! I recommend this game to everyone!! The packaging and extras are pretty cool too! The steelbook is great for collectors!

everyone knows Kojima and his crazy weirdo antics so I’m sure you know what to expect. I’m a big fan of his work, and I love this game but it’s simply isn’t for everyone. it’s a slow burn that demands commitment. the game makes traversal it’s main priority. there’s combat (combat is okay, I enjoy it but recognize it isn’t the greatest), but it’s not the focus. main enemy is the environment and how you traverse and overcome it to get your packages to point a to b while keeping said packages in top quality. while it can be upsetting when you fail to deliver, it’s never the games fault. you can make it to point b if you’re smart about it, and the game always worked well. if I messed up, it was my own doing. the game is also super pretty and the soundtrack, dude the soundtrack is amazing. this game is so gorgeous and has so many gorgeous moments. the story told is really cheesy and pretty pretentious at times but I personally found it super enjoyable and loved it. my biggest issue really is just the combat. like I said earlier, it works but it’s not the greatest. while it’s not the focus, it would’ve benefited if the combat had been worked on a lot more. it’s only noticeably wonky at the mandatory fights. the bosses generally fall down to relocating every now and then and just shooting. there’s option for stealth but the stealth is wonky as well. the monster fights are a lot better but still fall under the wonkiness and generally are the same relocate/shoot stuff. it’s enjoyable, but don’t expect mgs6. if you don’t like slow burns, stay away and please stop spreading misinformation about it also crazy how relevant this game is to this corona virus situation we have going on kojima u psycho

Do not believe the down play of this game. Yes, death stranding is definitely not for everyone and is a walking heavy game, but far from a walking simulator. This game is much deeper then ppl have given it credit for and it's a shame. Its visual stunning, the soundtrack is amazing, the controls are smooth and responsive and the story is indulging. I personally love it and I'm not a kojima fanboy. My advice would be to at least give it a try. Its take a little to build up, but it's worth it when it gets going for sure.

If you’re a Kojima fan then you’ve probably already purchased the game. If you don’t know who Hideo Kojima is then all you need to know is the man is brilliant in many ways. He is the man responsible for the Metal Gear series and if you’ve played them you’ll understand there is a huge amount of theatrical presentation waiting for you. His choice for the main protagonist (Norman Reedus) wasn’t my first pick but I’m happy to report his performance is perfect for the role. There are a lot of other talented actors such as Mads Mikkelsen, Troy Baker and of course Guillermo Del Toro making appearances. The game is all about walking from one place to another. That’s the entire game in a nutshell. The journey between the two points represents the meat and potatoes of the game. The story is unique, original, eccentric and if nothing else extremely weird and vague at times. It’s Kojima’s style to push the player to think, experience and interpret. This game isn’t Metal Gear and it’s definitely not for everyone much in the same way a lot of movies aren’t for everyone. The music is incredible and really gels with the presentation of loss, despair and hope. It always kicks in at the right time. The controls take a bit to get used to but once you understand the fundamentals it works. The graphics are breathtaking and utilize the Decima engine that propelled Horizon Zero Dawn to the forefront as one of this generations generations most impressive technical feats on a console. Death Stranding isn’t for everyone but for those that understand what the game is trying to convey it’s another tally mark in Kojima’s book of successful titles created.

I've seen so many reviews of this game going from one end to the other, and I would admit this game is not for everyone, are you into fast action, racing or don't have a lot of time, this is not the game for you. Are you more into story, immersion, and you enjoy weird, convoluted stories that would take forever to uncover, even months or years? (Remember Metal Gear 5 and the nukes discovery after more than a year after launch?). I might have a bias, but I've really enjoyed all the Kojima entries since MGS1 for the original Play Station and is not just the gameplay (which is actually pretty fun), the story and emotional involvement is as good as it can get. I'm 44+ hours in, and I'm sure this will be my next Witcher-like adventure. If you have a chance to try it first with a friend, that might work if you're deciding to get it or not. I liked it so much that I ordered the collectors edition after purchasing the special edition. I wouldn't recommend this game to a friend, just as I wouldn't recommend any of the dark souls' titles.

On the surface the game has some very basic delivery/navigation tones but the story, voice acting, and ingenious world that is created here make it a one of a kind, very enjoyable experience on a PS4Pro. I loved playing through this and now my daughter is well on her way. We have different tastes for sure but we both have found a lot to love about this game.

I am a bit slower to playing this game compared to others. It is absolutely beautiful, I have dedicated quite a lot of time into the game and feel like I have barely made a dent. It is certainly not for everyone, I am still trying to grasp the story and piece everything together but so far I am really enjoying the game, the story, the characters and world that Kojima has created for us.

Stunning graphics intriguing story, lots and lots of walking though. Don’t expect to start this game shooting it’s more of a adventure game goals as getting from point a to point B without losing your contracts. Wow there is some shooting and some other enemy Al..You were like Amazon prime in a dystopian world trying to reconnect City’s through communication and and finding better transversal or transversing roots example helping to establish bridges so that others don’t have to take days getting around rock formations are caverns.Expect at least 6 to 8 hrs of doing this until the game really starts to kick-in not sure if this is a spoiler but you’re going to be walking...walking a lot . And for some reason It was a blast doing just that. And you get everything that you expect from a H. Kojima game Great cinematics emotional death from the talent. You get this feeling of I can’t wait for the next eight hours and see how the world is change how people have contributed to making travel easier the game is different but amazing. But that’s just me I would love to hear your take on the game in your experiences

I'm 80 hrs in and I'm enjoying the main campaign so far. I'm loving the multiplayer aspect of this game which is new to me because I prefer single player games, but I love that you get to receive gears and resources from other players and in return, the infrastructures you build not only benefit you, but other players as well. The story is very well done. Tip: the beginning part of the game can be tedious because you haven't unlocked stuff like bike, truck, exoskeleton, and delivery bots so make sure you speed through the main campaign to get these items, once you do, it's a lot less tedious. Cons: I wish there was a photomode for the game, it's such a gorgeous game on my PS4 Pro but I can't take pictures so this is such a let down.

I’m still early in the game, at the end of Chapter 2, but I’ve really enjoyed it so far. You are a package carrier in a future where society has been torn apart and is trying to recover from a weird phenomenon known as Death Stranding. You are tasked with trying to reconnect the United Cities of America. If you’ve ever played a Kojima game then you know what to expect; long cinemas, lots of detail, lots of interesting game mechanics, a good looking game, wrapped in a weird/strange story. It’s worth a try if you are looking for something different from other mainstream games. It gets better as it ages.

This is my personal Game of the Year and in my opinion should have won Game of the Year at The Game Awards. It has a deep and moving story, excellent graphics, amazing music and innovative game mechanics you just can't find elsewhere. The imagination and creativity of Hideo Kojima made this game happen and Death Stranding is so much more than a walking/delivery simulator like what most people claim it to be. I bought the steelbook edition and I will be proudly displaying it in my game collection shelf for years to come!

Beautiful game. Graphics are top of its class the controls are great. The story is epic and complex. You play a character that is in the pick up and delivery with challenges in between. You have humans that want your cargo, spirits that are wondering and kill you and rain that can ruin your cargo. All can be explained in the game. If you have 50 plus hours in your schedule ( could be more) than this is the game to get. Good luck reconnecting people.

The game is an odd one that can really be a hit or miss depending on what games you enjoy. At time the game can be clunky, sometime broken at times but the joy of completing a deliver with the limited gear that you yourself laid out along your path is fun. The story is interesting but after everything is done and you become better prepared as well as establishing trade routes your can see how much you've improved from beginning to end. All in all, solid game mechanics with a unique game loop that be fun for sum but not for all

My GOTY 2019, but even more relevant today (Covid)

This was my GOTY in 2019. It's basically the antithesis of the biggest AAA games/series nowadays, but made at the same production level, if not higher. Death Stranding was touted as being a "Strand game", and the idea there is that the game doesn't emphasize violence (which is still somewhat present), but connecting with others. This is done through the use of equipment that you buy/build to help travel across the world more easily. You're limited in how much you can do by yourself, so you'll naturally find yourself looking to use the stuff left by others. Similarly, as you build things, you'll do so with others in mind. The sci-fi story of the game mirrors these sentiments, albeit in some melodramatic ways throughout. But it's a pretty great story, and it's eerily applicable to things today, with Covid and all. It's hard to really sell the fun of this game without spoiling various things, but I found it all very engaging throughout. If you're interested enough in this game to have made it this far, you should really give it a chance. It's not for everyone, but if you're here, then I think it has a good shot with you too.

Loved every single second of this adventure. Definitely more than just a "walking simulator". If you liked previous kojima games, you will enjoy this one too. Something about this game just gripped me front start to finish and i couldnt put this game down. Good story, fun gameplay once things get going and definitely worth your time :)
