This is my first new laptop purchase. I've had several used laptops in the past and boy am I pleased to use this nice looking laptop. It's super fast and was very easy to setup. I love the touchscreen option and tablet mode even though I rarely use it. I bought this laptop for recording music and It functions great even with multiple windows open and my digital audio workstation open.

    Good Windows 10 PC

First, I'm presently a MacBook Pro user. I love the physical quality of my Mac. I needed a Windows 10 PC for business and went with Dell who I've used for over 20 years. I chose this Dell because it looks and feels very much like my MacBook Pro. That being said, I like Windows 10, it's a huge improvement over all the past Windows versions and this Dell works great with the OS. The hardware is sturdy, the screen is very clear and is touch (which I have never used) I think the touchpad is one of the better Window based touchpads on the market (I like ASUS too). The keyboard is of the chicklet variety and I find it a little squishy. It's not in the same category as my Macbook but I also paid 1.5 time LESS for it. Both of my laptops have 500 GB solid state HDs and both are very quick to boot and load files and applications. I cannot see that the Dell is any slower than the Mac. I think it's a great machine and would highly recommend it. I realize this is not a Macbook review but it is obvious Dell was trying to copy the look and feel of the Apple product and they did a reasonably decent job of it. It caught my attention as a Mac user.

A great starter computer for the 2017 graduate. Plenty of RAM and solid state HD speed make this 2 in 1 laptop a great buy. Most of the bells and whistles comes standard with this one. Just had to purchase a USB external optical drive

This pc should've had a full keyboard and should have more USB ports; there is too much wasted space which could've been used for a full keyboard. The power button is in an unconventional place, but it's not better than a regular button next to keyboard.

The computer has great features and is fair on speed. The problem that I have been having is the location of the power button. It is located on the front right corner. I am right handed and when I grab the laptop I accidentally turn it off quite a bit. Also, my arm rest next to the power button as well so when I type it sometimes gets turned off. This is by far my biggest complaint since productivity is cut.

Very happy with this purchase. I have been an Apple user for many years. Decided to switch to PCs after seeing that Apple increased their pricing. Here's my pros and cons: Pros: 1) Great price. I bought mine when it was on sale for $799. 2) 512 GB SSD. Lots of space for all my photos and music. I even have enough room for video editing. 3) Sufficiently fast in boot and execution time. 4) Good keyboard with travel depth. Keys are located in comfortable positions. Note: there is no numerical keypad. However, without that, the keys are centered on the laptop - a positive for me. There are full sized shift keys. 5) Very good sound quality and loudness 6) All the ports: HDMI, SD, Headphone, USB 3, USB 2, and USB C are there. 7) Fan: quiet most of the time. Even when running, it is a low hum (fan runs only when using Flash or heavy processing. Silent when just browsing the web, watching Netflix, or word processing). 8) Super easy to upgrade. Remove 9 screws on the back and pry lid open from the vent area. Memory is upgradable. Currently have 1 8gb and 1 4gb module. SSD is a PCIe type (M.2 I think - not standard 2.5" SSD). 9) The tablet function is nice to have, but I don't normally use this. The only time that this is convenient is when I am reading music sheet while playing the piano. Neutral: 1) Trackpad doesn't feel smooth under finger. It works well though. Even have 4 finger swipe gesture to switch virtual desktops. 2) The weight is decent, but not super light. 3) Screen can't dim all the way down. Screen is bright enough, however. Cons: None that I can think of that is a deal breaker for the $800 price.

We have had the laptop for about a year. Pros: Starts up quick when everyone is logged out (more about this in cons) Touch screen is responsive along with the track pad. Runs fairly quickly with apps and web browsing The light up keypad is beautiful! Cons: Some issues we have encountered are a buzzing/rattling speaker noise. I have been troubleshooting with Dell support and will need to send it in for up to two weeks for repairs- boo! The cooling fan is quite noisy, may be a hardware issue but seems abnormally loud If more than one user is logged in and you bring laptop out of standby mode it can freeze for several minutes while trying to start up and you receive a message about limited memory. Ummm there are 12GB RAM so having three users shouldn't crush the memory into submission. Overall I feel for the price the system could be better. I guess Dell can be hit or miss. Not sure I would recommend the laptop- on good days I would say yes but for us being a family there are definitely some limitations

I'm not quite PC savvy enough to break down all the tech specs for this, but speaking simply from a user perspective I'm extremely happy with this purchase. Quick booting & processing with decent power for a casual laptop. The keyboard if so comfortable to use, partly because of the responsive keys, but also the well designed room to rest your hands when typing (at first I didn't like the extra space on the bottom, but now I love it). It's also a very pretty laptop with it's brushed steel and back-lit keys. It's big enough to not be difficult to use, but small and light enough to be very easy to take around with me. I'm even okay with the fact that I'm stuck using Windows 10.

I always complete a ton of research prior to making a laptop purchase. Nothing is worse than spending your hard earned money on a laptop that is slow and doesn't live up to what you thought you were purchasing. The Dell - Inspiron I7579-7171GRY lived up to my expectations... and then some! Everyone wants a laptop that turns on and loads as fast as possible. Everyone wants a laptop that opens and loads applications with a snap of your fingers. Everyone wants a laptop that can help you accomplish tasks quickly. Everyone wants a laptop that they can turn off within seconds of hitting the off button. Trust me when I say this... the 512GB Solid State Drive and 12GB of memory allows this laptop to complete all of these tasks within 5 seconds... literally! I personally use my laptop for general internet surfing, viewing pictures, streaming videos on YouTube, streaming live news content and for stock trading applications. This laptop allows me to complete all of these tasks at once with absolutely no slow down in performance. I am not big into gaming so I cannot comment on that aspect as that is not something I use this laptop for. The laptop is completely silent throughout the entire time I have used it and not once has it gotten hot. The sound quality is good and the screen quality is even better. I purchased this laptop for what I consider to be a steal ($849.00) about a month ago and couldn't be happier! If you want a laptop that is lightening fast, you MUST purchase a laptop with a minimum of 10GB of memory and it MUST have a SSD (Solid State Drive). If you decide to go with anything less than 10GB of memory and opt for the traditional hard drive instead of the solid state drive, you need to realize you will have a laptop that is much, MUCH slower than this one. Lastly I should add that this is not a 4k resolution laptop. This is actually a GOOD THING! The last laptop I owned was a 4k resolution laptop and it turned into more of a hassle than anything. Many applications and software programs do not support the 4k resolution. Therefore, the applications appear extremely tiny and virtually unusable. I found myself having to use two different laptops, one laptop for just general internet surfing and the other laptop for actually getting things done. This laptop, while not 4k, is still an amazing crystal clear HD resolution laptop that ALL applications will work perfectly on. In conclusion, this laptop is a MUST purchase. This is by far the fastest and most easy to use laptop I have ever owned. You will not find this amazing quality of a laptop at a better price anywhere else. You will not be disappointed!

I love the Touch-Screen feature that helps me to pick something on the screen quickly. It has Intel Core i7 and 12GB Memory. It has Solid State hard drive of 512GB which provide perpect storage for me because I don't want to save varieties of things.

Pros: 1) I got mine on sale, so it was of excellent value 2) RAM, SSD, Battery replaceable and can be upgraded 3) Fast enough for most things, 1080p screen 4) Decent keyboard with good travel 5) All the ports are there, including USB-C for the future Cons: 1) Trackpad can feel gritty, not smooth like glass 2) Screen doesn't dim all the way down, so in a dark room, it can be quite bright still 3) Sound could be more punchy 4) A bit heavy

I had been watching this computer for a month or so because I once saw it on sale for $799 from it's standard $999 price. Once I saw this sale, I was no longer willing to pay $999 for it. The price remained the same for some time and eventually I caught it drop to $849 which I felt was as close as I could get so I purchased it. I have been very happy with the laptop. The touch screen is very responsive and accurate. Using it as a tablet or just touchscreen PC works very well and it is easy to convert. The only setback was that it occasionally makes a noise as if the fan is accelerating to keep the PC cool while running certain processes which is reasonably expected. I had suspected that with a 7th gen i7, 12gb RAM, and a solid state drive that it would really take some demanding processes to cause this but it seems to do it on occasion with normal use. It has not deterred me from loving the computer at all but I felt it was worth noting to help future buyers set proper expectations. Otherwise, this is a powerful computer, very thin and lightweight and I have satisfied with my purchase.

I bought this laptop to replace one that was stolen. The purchase was an excellent choice. It is fast, and I do mean very fast. The SSD was a good choice for speed. I download at a much faster speed than my colleagues on their I3 and I5 processing laptops. I use Dropbox free to upload all of my files to the cloud. The display is nice and clear. The touch pad you can set for very sensitive or not so sensitive. The touchscreen and tablet mode is fantastic. It works extremely well.

I bought my laptop two months ago and have been 100% completely satisfied with it ever since! The speed and storage is perfect for everything I want to do. My last laptop lasted 8 years and was very slow the last couple, so I decided to upgrade. I got the SSD this time attempting to avoid to sluggishness that comes with age....I would highly recommend this to everyone I know. P.S. The touch screen is pretty awesome too!
