I purchased this monitor to finally be rid of the screen tearing that happens when you go above your monitor's refresh rate. I have been using V-Sync forever, but that feature doesn't always stop screen tearing and one good example I ran into was in Metro Exodus, especially during the intro. If you have an NVIDIA graphics card, once you enable G-Sync and turn on Vertical Sync in Global Settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel, every game will be ready to use G-SYNC. Just make sure to not enable V-sync in any games from now on because G-SYNC will handle the syncing of frames for you. I haven't noticed any difference between leaving the refresh rate at 60 Hz and setting it to 165 Hz in the NVIDIA Control Panel if G-SYNC is enabled, but again, screen tearing was the only thing that really bothered me. I say this because I often forget to switch to 165 Hz when playing games since I leave it at 60 Hz for everything else. Also, if you use the built-in FPS counter for the monitor, make sure you set your refresh rate to something higher than 60 Hz in the NIVIDIA Control Panel or the FPS counter won't ever go past 60 FPS. Finally, if you are wondering about black levels and IPS glow, the black levels are good in games, but you're going to see a ton of the normal IPS glow around the edges of the monitor.

Disclaimer, my 1st panel had 2 stuck pixels and the white colors were tinted pink and I couldn't get it resolved but Best Buy customer service said not to worry and ordered me a new replacement. A few days later I received my brand new replacement and this one is fantastic! Sometimes you just get a bad egg so I won't ding this monitor for that. I got a good panel with this one as there is no back light bleed and the IPS glow is minimal. Contrast is great for IPS and the black uniformity on my panel is actually pretty good although I read some reviews where the uniformity was a little sub par, perhaps Dell has resolved this because mine is really good? Color gradients seem to be smooth with no noticeable banding. 165hz works as advertised out of box, keep in mind you need to use display port cable 1.2 or higher to achieve this but don't worry about a cable as one comes with the monitor. This has 2 HDMI 2.0 ports which means this will work fine with Xbox's and Playstations. Out of box colors are a little off using the standard presets so I made some adjustments using the custom color panel in the OSD and colors look amazing and are vibrant. I like that this monitor has built in color saturation options in the OSD, this can help a lot when using the black equalizer for gaming. Monitor brightness is just fine at 400nits, I keep my brightness around %85 and contrast at %75 which pairs well with the custom color adjustments I made. For gaming, I recommend using the "super fast" overdrive setting as it is %100 the best option, seriously no ghosting.....I feel like I am playing on a TN panel it does so well. The extreme OD setting isn't good as it overdrives the pixels badly so refrain from using that setting. The input lag is terrific and responsiveness of the monitor exactly what any enthusiast is looking for. Also, Dell has monitor software app that you can download and use to swap between profiles for gaming, media, and other desktop uses.....very easy to use and convenient. To wrap this up, this is replacing my Acer Predator XB271HU monitor which in itself is a fantastic gaming monitor too. However, it is older and doesn't have newer feature sets like the Dell S2721DGF has. The Dell is a noticeably better upgrade and I am surprised at how good these newer fast IPS panels work......it's seriously darn good and I understand why independent reviewers are raving about this monitor. 5 stars!!!!

This is my second time buying this monitor. Originally bought it for around $470 and it was worth it back then. Saw that it was on sale for $300 and pulled the trigger for a matching pair. Incredible performing IPS display. Amazing viewing angles and great motion! Couldn’t recommend this monitor more for a “budget” 1440p IPS display

If you're reading this it's because you already know what you're looking for. A 1440p monitor with all the bells and whistles with high quality. Yes, this is it chief. The only thing is I'd recommend waiting for sales/discounts to occur. It's a bit expensive in comparison to some others. Stand: The stand is pretty solid, it also swivels and rotates 90 degrees to be portrait mode, but it needs to be angled slightly for it to tilt 90 degrees. Panel: Small IPS glow spot in the bottom left, but besides that nothing, and even then it was like, not really visible? I had to use a camera to take a photo of it during the black screen to truly see it. No backlight bleed. No ghosting, yes it's 165hz. Colors are nice. Games look great and at high resolution+framerate. Remember to pick up a 3080/3090. The controls are a little weird. Not bad, just different. They're on the right side, but on the back. So you won't accidentally hit them while moving the monitor and other monitors wont hit them if they bump together. But it's a little annoying when I need to basically do an under/over reach to get to them (two monitors side by side). There's also a really cool blue light up strip. Super nice deep blue that gives it a pretty sleek look, but you can turn it off for even more minimalism. Bezel is super thin, basically nonexistent. It's also not that heavy in comparison to older monitors. Like genuinely light.

Best monitor for the price! I have a Xbox series x and wanted a good gaming monitor that I could play 120hz on with 1440p and this is the perfect monitor for that, able to play at 1440p 120 frames per second with hdr and freesync variable refresh rate on! The picture quality is amazing on this monitor and the design of it is also a huge plus!

This monitor is great! The quality and graphics are wonderful. Options to enhance the graphics to fir your computing needs (gaming, graphic design, everyday surfing, or anything else this monitor can do it! The only negative thing I've noticed is it occasionally turns off, or "sleeps" when in use, and it is not my cord connectors.

Wanted a monitor with HDMI 2.1, didn't disappoint and got it at a good price.

I used to only purchase Viewsonic monitors but saw the reviews and purchased this Dell monitor. This is easily the best monitor I ever purchased, and the display is excellent. It has multiple viewing angles so adjusting for proper viewing is super easy. Also has multiple connections, professional look and the back blue lighting is great.
