The fryer never turned on and never ever created even a trace of warmth let alone heat. The inner pan didn't line up with the outer frame so the cover would not fit correctly. I contacted the company and the rep gave me an attitude. Eventually agreeing there was a problem. I had to wait for an email from him with information. I was then had to show proof of purchase attached to their electronic form, which I did right away. More than a week went buy, no contact. I sent a second electronic message asking if they had gotten my information, no response. I then called their company and was told they had gotten my second email but not the first with my proof of purchase. They wanted me to do it all over again, at that point, I decided I didn't need this type of treatment and no longer wanted their product. I returned it to my local Best Buy store, without any hassle. I then ordered a fryer from another company and I am very happy with that one. I will no longer be buying products from this company.

DELONGHI MAKES THE BEST PRODUCTS FOR THE HOME. WHEN YOU USE THIS ITEM IT IS NEVER TASTES LIKE IT IS FRIED. THIS IS A GREAT VALUE, MY FIRST FRYER I BOUGHT AT A SPECIALITY STORE FOR DOUBLE THE PRICE.

The fryer was dysfunctional right out of the box. I believe the base and the heating component were not connected properly, every time I tried to lower the basket into the oil the unit powered off as soon as the basket touched the heating coils. I had to rig it in order to finish cooking my food. However it does get a plus for the oil spout making it easy to drain. Too bad I drained it so I can return the product.
