Customers are impressed with the AVR-X4700H's sound quality, ease of use, and setup process. Many appreciate its powerful performance across multiple channels and the inclusion of Dolby Atmos. While some found the price high and noted that the unit can get warm during use, the positive feedback on features and sound quality outweighs these concerns. The receiver's extensive features and capabilities are also frequently praised.

Denon 4700H replacing a Denon 4311ci receiver that was 9 years old. The DACs are newer as is everything else. This unit has the Alpha processing that is great to have for the audio. This has everything I need for my home theater. Always love the Audyssy xt32-it really makes the sound in the space that much better. I did turn off the Audyssy LFE which is available for bass containment, as I felt it held my 2 subs back a bit, but all in all a great receiver. I have a ROKU+, connected directly to the receiver and I could not be happier with how the unit handles the audio and video. I have a small room and it is more than enough in a 5.2.4 set up. Get it now while it's still available.

Amazing sound quality. Major improvement over AVR-960H. The added power for the front stage has been awesome for movies. Denon interfaces are easy and intuitive. Very happy with this receiver and look forward to maxing the channels out.

Great buy, thinking of buying a Sonus or Samsung sound bar - then my reference 14" speakers said won't sound as good as me, specifically with that 0.05 reciever distortion! So I opted to do a home theather with a 5.1.2 - sounds FANTASTIC with the Denon! Doby ATMOS and IMAX are great but the spacial music from Apple is really rocks, makes that SVS Subwoofer tower hum.

Exceptional AV Receiver

Have been using this amazing receiver since September, 2020. It has performed flawlessly and still is. It is primarily used for movies. Both the Dolby Atmos and DTS Neural:X sound formats have provided exceptional sound quality, the surround sound fields they both create sound multi-dimensional.
My speaker setup utilizes 11 speakers, please see the attached photo for further details.
Furthermore, had to utilize an additional amp in order to drive the two rear height channels. Please see the attached photo for further details.
I am big fan on keeping electronic devices properly cooled. The receiver is not only vented on the top, it is also vented on the sides of the receiver as well. Furthermore, the following receiver cooling fan system was also installed, which is guaranteeing the receiver stays cool regardless of how hard it is pushed: AC Infinity AIRCOM T9, Quiet Cooling Fan System 17" Top-Exhaust for Receivers, Amps, DVR, AV Cabinet Components. A photo of this device was also included.
In addition, the receiver is also being protected by a high quality battery backup device (UPS).
I have gotten so much enjoyment out of this receiver, I consider this purchase a great investment. Great job Denon.

Receiver sounds great once you get it set to your likings. However, I've had multiple issues with it not connecting to the right input. And now, the display is showing a bunch of funky numbers that I have no clue why. Personally, I love the Onkyo I had previously. Zero issues with it.

This thing is a beast! This receiver has pretty much everything Denon offers as far as options. While it isn’t “powerful” it is ample power for my system. Setup is a bit quirky unless you really know what you’re doing. Also, this version has the updated chip-set, so no external box for the 4k@120hz needed. The remote (as will all Denon remotes) is pretty much useless and a terrible design, but All in all….very happy with this

I presently have a basic 5.1 Dolby setup in my den. This receiver is awesome. I know it will be very capable of any upgrades I will do when the time comes. Even with my system I have now, the sound quality is incredible.

The Denon AVR-X4700H is a great receiver. it has 9.2 channels with the ablity to add 2 more channels with a power amp. I'm using the Niles SI-2150 which gives you 150W at 8ohs and 270W at 4ohms per channel to go with my Klipsch - Reference Series Dual 6-1/2" Passive Floor Speaker. which is 100W RMs and 400 peak.
the only draw back with this receiver is the pre-out set up only allows you to chose from either your Dolby Atmos surround or your fronts. I went with the fronts because it was a shorter run wire wise. I wouldn't have enough slack to wire up the power amp for Dolby Atmos surround.
The set up is easy, the auddusy for the speakers is amazing and if you pay an extra $20 for the multeq app it allows you really calibrate in more detail your speakers and subs via your phone. you then save it via the app and can send it to your receiver.
One small issue is all the hdmi are supposed to be 4k 120hz. my xbox series x allows 4k 120hz and so does my 55 " lg 4k GX series. but the receiver won't do it.
Not sure what's going on there.
but all and all agreat add.

Awesome receiver with 125 watts per channel. Excellent investment improving the quality of my 4K Samsung QLED 65 inch TV. Also to note the geek squad installed my system and they did a fine job and provided great support. Even a few weeks later I had a few questions and the installer was helpful.

11 channels of processing! Off this system, I've built a 7.2.4 speaker system. It powers 9 channels internally, and I have an external amp powering the mains. So the only hard word the AVR has to do, for now, is deal with the center channel. These things do get hot, so I recommend open air, or something like an ac infinity t8,t9 or t10(different exhaust applications). Those models match where the heat comes from perfectly and ensure it never goes above 85 degrees.
This amp is very good, and comes highly recommended by those who test amps for a living. I would get this if you need hdmi 2.1. I'm running my ps5 through it and its beautiful. I would've liked more than one port, but by the time I actually need 2 8k ports, I'll probably have another solution. If you don't need this for the ps5, Xbox series x, or new graphics cards that require hdmi 2.1, then I would go with the x4500h. Its got the same power, all the bells and whistles for audio formats,4k hdr all that, and its the same price as the x3700h. So unless you need 8k or hdmi 2.1, I'd probably get that one. They are both great machines, and the differences are not important beyond hdmi 2.1. In my case, I didn't want to use the crappy earc operation on my LG CX, so plugging the ps5 into an avr was important for me.

I have had Denon in the past (15 years ago) then switched to Yamaha and then Onkyo. ALL of them have delivered great performance, but this new Denon AVR-4700H is by far the best. The set up was also the simplist ever. Overall quality is top notch and set up for future technolgies such as 8k, advanced wi-fi and more.

Love the Denon 4700H, it has all the options you would ever want. However, it is tough to get the sound especially the bass without the Audyssey EQ Editor App. I was frustrated until I downloaded the app and it gave many more options as to settings. If you spend $1500 on the AVR then don't let the $20 for the app bother you, it is a must. IF you can, the app works much better on an Ipad than a phone, just easier to make changes. I am still tweaking the sound every so often to my liking but this a a great, future proof AVR.
