    Doom Review

Hello everyone. I just wanted to talk about my experience with this game, Doom. It was given a lot of hate and flak because of it's beta for many reasons. We will be discussing the entire game and what are some pros and cons it has. Campaign (No Spoilers) - (Story) The campaign feels great and has a very nice story that isn't too indepth but it is still really nice to follow, listen and play. Doom was also never about the campaign (story wise) and more about being a unstoppable marine that destroy all the Demons to save Earth and Mars. And just like the older games, it is centered on a silent protagonist that's main objective is to stop Demons from taking over by obliterating everything in his path. (Gameplay) To perfectly describe this game would be to call it a run and gun type of game because you never stop moving. The action is so fast paced that if you don't move at all, you are more than likely dead. The Demons all have different ways of defeating them and you have to use that to your advantage especially if you are doing one of the harder difficulties. (Difficulty) The difficult is fairly descent when you get to around 25% of the way through the game. In the beginning, it is beyond easy because you are fighting low level Demons and some of them can be one shot. Unless you are standing still in the beginning of the game, it shouldn't be hard and it will be very hard for the Demons to kill you or even scratch you. The difficulty also scales pretty well. On my first time through the campaign, I played on the hardest difficulty that I could and had a blast but when I got to certain parts of the game like a boss, I had a little bit of difficulty until I figured out their movesets. Multiplayer (Gameplay) It is pretty good besides for the phantom hitboxes of the melee that happen a lot. Other than that though, it is a good addition to the game and is more of just the topping and not anything major unlike the campaign or snapmap (which we will talk about a little bit later). (Connection) I cannot judge on this very well because my internet just loves to cut in and out every so often but personally, it is either that it is lagging or stable. Multiplayer is still just the topping for this game though. The two major things are campaign and snapmap as I said before. Snapmap (Gameplay) I don't even know where to begin. Someone literally made a farming game in this. A farming game in a FPS. I actually played it because I thought the person that made it was just naming it, "Farming Simulator" and it wasn't going to be (I wasted 30 minutes doing it and I still can't believe that it is real). Also, someone else made an entire RPG game inside of it with leveling, a good size map and money system that was a blast to play. So overall, I don't think there is anything that you cannot build if you wanted to in this. (Building) It is basically Halo's forge but ten times better to use. Personally, I find it harder to use but that is my own opinion so please use your own opinion on this part. Overall if you enjoy building maps for other people to play and even for yourself to play, you will definitely enjoy this. (Compatibility) I just have to add that both PC and console players will be able to play on all created maps that either of them have made. (Customization) The armor customization is very well done. You can customize everything from your helmet to what your armor looks like underneath, base armor. You get armor just by playing the game and there is a wide varieties of armor from regular soldier (UAC) armor to demonic armor to angelic (Templar) armor. I hope you found this review useful and hope I will find you on Doom. Vesius

This game will have you begging for more right from the first level. Your job is to seek and destroy, that is the long and short of it. You will want to explore bits of the levels once you get through wasting the demons, monsters, and "Oh dear God what is that thing with 9 eyes and a pitch fork for a hand". But really, this game has awesome gameplay and beautiful graphics. Oh...and keep an eye out for secret locales where you play through old Doom levels. A serious amount of bang for your buck! Even has a really fun multiplayer platform. For old Doom veterans and newcomers, You will have a blast.

The franchise comes back with an excellent gameplay. All the things that we love from Doom series is here plus a frenetic fast gameplay and awesome music in the background. If your are new to the series you are gonna love it. If you are an old fan of the series you are gonna confirm the reasons why you like it.

I had previously purchased this game for the Xbox One and enjoyed it so I decided to buy the game as a gift for my boyfriend. He has spent many hours playing the game online. The PS4 online community is much more welcoming than that of the Xbox One, giving it a great value past the single-player campaign.

Ordered this on July 5, 2022 under the impression that it was in fact the 'Standard Edition' as it says in the description and the photo. What I received was the Playstation Hits version. Not a problem if you're just looking for a copy to play as the game itself is the same, but if you're working on a sealed collection or long-term value, it makes all the difference.

Trailer Over Promises on Game Play

I was hugely disappointed upon finally cracking open my copy of Doom and playing the game. Trailer over promises on a high energetic game with ease of use of gory battle scenes. The controls in which you have to engage to execute a glory kill in my opinion are ridiculous! Movement of character is too jittery and limited to what you can do which makes the gameplay that much more a downer! Graphics are great but storyline, maps and limitation to explore environment sucks! I want my money back!!!

    Great Fun in your face

Doom is just a great and fun game that is in your face. Its an absolute blast to experience, literally. I would rate it the highest possible 9/10. To describe it, it's genera, is like a Horror filled, Sci-Fi, fast paced, adrenaline fueled Action, first person shooter, with a heart pumping, hard rock guitar rift soundtrack, that keeps you rocking well after you've slayed your last foe. This game excels in the following categories: game play, graphics, sound, and narrative- it actually, surprisingly, has a very good and intriguing story within it. Its not as meat and potatoes as some might expect. In terms of the tech, its running at a butter smooth 60 frames per second locked under the hood. I don't remember seeing any dropped frames or screen tearing. It has a very high image quality, boasts crisp textures, and some very good looking environments, making it one of the best looking games made to date. It's also loaded with a lot of atmosphere. In terms of game play, the 60 fps translates into some really great and fun moments, mixing fast brutal mele finishers, with fast paced run and gun blazing action. The game offers some pretty sweet weapons too, especially after being upgraded- for example a heavy machine gun with a sniper scope, that rapidly takes down enemies from a distance fast. And than there is the precision bolt laser gun that basically one shots almost everything. There's a lot of great and fun weapons to toy around with, in your arsenal, that you'll become familiar with. The story itself has some surprises, so definitely pay attention to the lore, it doesn't seem like it at first, but it slowly gets there, and when it arrives, it was definitely not what I was expecting and had me do a double take about 2/3 in, and say wow. It was totally out of left field, but it was good. I did not expect that at all. I really don't have any criticisms for the game, its campaign is direct, and follows a linear path from the beginning to the end. It offers character and weapon upgrades, that encourage exploring the environments by rewarding you with more power. I guess I don't know what else to say. I suppose I just couldn't give the game a perfect 10/10 for the sole reason that although what it does is excellent, besides some unique environments, mele weapons and finishing moves, there wasn't a lot that hasn't been done previously in the fps genera before. That said, this is definitely one of the best looking games on the PS4 today, and If you like Horror, if you like Sci-Fi, if you like Action games, if you like first person shooters, than you can't go wrong with this game. It is also a fairly easy game to platinum, I believe it took me a week and a half and two play throughs to platinum it. The game also has a multiplayer mode that isn't bad, its pretty average, but it isn't too bad. Now you've read the review, what are you waiting for? Go and get it!

Classic gameplay updated to current standards

Doom successfully merges the classic run and gun gameplay with current styles of FPS standards. It's slightly retro in the Doom feel of the game but stays so current with it's gore and weapons. It's a breath of fresh air in the scope of FPS and actually is one of the best FPS currently on the market. The gameplay can be somewhat mindless at times but conserving ammo and knowing when to perform close gore kills as opposed to killing foes with your weapon comes with playing the game for hours and learning to strategize. The game throws tons of foes mixed in with more powerful foes at you which produces an amazing feeling of speed. As you go further in the game you can upgrade not only your weapons but your abilities leading to you becoming more agile, which is great considering that there is platforming in this game as well. The music is pulsating and the graphics showcase that this generation has not capped out and still can create spectacle. The detail is rich , which shows Mars as being chaotic as well as a beauty to behold in a gory universe. The game also features many secrets and rooms created using classic Doom elements merged with current enemies in certain areas. As far as gameplay goes this is the most complete Doom game in years. For anyone that is a fan of the series or newcomers alike, this game has to be in your collection.

I had never played doom before, I watched/read reviews on gaming outlets but was hesitant. I was at a local best buy and saw it for $20 ($16 with GCU) plus I had a $10 certificate so it was a no brainer, I am having a blast. I play it whenever I take some time from persona 5 or destiny 2. The game plays fast and it's pure action

I'm just going to get straight into the meat of the game and put my conclusion at the end. There are 3 gameplay modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, SnapMap. Campaign and Multiplayer are self explanatory. In SnapMap you can create your own maps and play maps others have created. I'll give an overview of the positives and negatives, mostly of the campaign mode. Positives: - fast paced action: constantly on the move, no aim down sights for most weapons, no reloading ammo, always sprinting, have to keep moving otherwise demons will overrun you - platforming is done right, it helps change the pace up and is fun - unique weapons each with 2 upgrade paths - secrets found through the levels (secrets include the ability to replay old Doom levels) - armor and runes upgrades which add more depth and abilities - codex which gives you lore and detailed information about the world and demons of Doom - story/setting is interesting and keeps you enticed the whole game moving you between Mars and HeII - campaign is long and took about 11 hours to beat (not including all the challenges and secrets to be found) - mission select - able to replay old missions and pick up missed collectibles and finish challenges - Multiplayer: lots of variety in skins, fast paced, can transform into a demon - SnapMap: has some amazing levels that people have created, easy to make your own level Negatives: - bugs that prevent some challenges from being completed and some trophies from popping up (played on most recent patch 1.06) - lack of variety in demons - too fast paced for some (friends complained about making them dizzy) - indoor environments can sometimes become bland - Multiplayer: levels are bland, players are massive bullet sponges, unlocking skins is completely random - SnapMap: not enough variety in the pieces you can place, no outside environments If you played the original Doom, you will love this classic reboot. If you haven't played the original Doom, then you will be in for a very tasty treat. This game is oozing with personality. If you are even slightly interested in single player FPS games, then YOU MUST pick this game up. I don't even play FPS games anymore but this game just reignited my enthusiasm for the genre. The multiplayer is fun although there are many games out there that do a better job but the campaign mode is where it is at. It will keep you hooked for days and even after you're done, you will find yourself wanting to replay the game. It's that good! If you have the time and money, then I suggest you invest in Doom, a game that will entertain you for many days.

Let me start by saying that this reboot or re-imaging of Doom, if you will, is one of the best reboots of a series next to Wolfenstein I've seen in a long time. The game has, from what I've played so far, a very amazing, solid campaign, with a great Industrial Metal soundtrack. The games environments are very diverse in style and design, as well as the overall speed and smoothness of the game. They did an amazing job at including all of the classic Doom enemies that we grew up loving since way back in 1995. The way that the developers managed to blend old school , and new school style game play mechanics into one package is incredible. I would like to give this game two demon horns up for excellence in campaign, and for the multiplayer that keeps people coming back for more intense fun.
