Near the start of the game in the sewers, my PS4 pro just shuts off. Reinstalled and no change. Waste of time and money.

I never was lucky to have played the Dragon Quest games of old (Previously known as Dragon Warrior) I got my first real experience of the series on the PS2 with Dragon Quest 8 (now on the 3ds go pick it up it's amazing too) I loved that game. Maybe it was the fact I am a huge Dragon Ball Akria Toriyama fan or maybe it was the fact I love JRPG or maybe it was just a great game or all of the above. But from that moment I was hooked. Since then I waited so long for Dragon Quest to return to consoles in a true JRPG fashion so when this go announced a few years back I knew it would be something special and boy was I right. The graphics and gameplay the story the voice acting it's all top notch. If you were looking for an old school JRPG fix with modern graphics and high production values this is for you. After being very disappointed in Final Fantasy 15 I was concerned if Square Enix lost the ability to make a good JRPG but this game proves that they still can. So what are you waiting for? Go pick this game up now before a metal slime steals it and runs away.

I last played a Dragon Quest game on PS2 with Dragon Quest VIII (one of my favorite games on PS2) and this was just as great, if not better. If you enjoy traditional style RPG's with a great story and fun gameplay, you'll want to play DQ11. I put in about 100 hours finishing the story and then going back to complete all sidequests and enjoyed every minute of it. The game can be a bit too easy at times, but you do have the option to handicap your experience, by choosing various options (tougher enemies, not being able to purchase equipment, etc.) when starting a new play though

This is the 11th title of the series. The graphics so smooth Chris and perfect for the game. The music and sound however I’ve basically the same as other titles of the series and not so memorable. Don’t get me wrong this game has a lot of charm to it To keep you busy. The voice acting to me fits perfect for every character of the game. Controlling is perfectly fine and easy to control the characters. The battle system is so much is same as all other Dragon Quest games. I only wish they brought Dragon Quest eight over as a remake.

After a handful of spinoff titles and a Japanese-only release for the tenth game, Dragon Quest XI marks the return of the iconic JRPG series after several years since it's ninth installment on the Nintendo DS. You are the Luminary, a hero of prophecy. However, there are those who do no see your presence as beneficial to the world, and thus begins a perilous adventure to fulfill your destiny against mounting odds. Along the way, you'll assemble a party consisting of a reformed thief named Erik, twin sisters Veronica and Serena, and many more. Combat in DQ11 will be somewhat familiar to returning fans, it's still turned-based, but now with the option to freely run around the battleground as you pummel slimes and other beasts. A revamped skill system allows you to customize your party to your liking, favoring preferred skills/weapons over others in order to obtain powers and abilities ahead of others. Much like the eighth installment way back on the PlayStation 2, the game features full voice-acting, giving the game a kind of medieval fair-like vibe. If you're a fan of the series, you will not be disappointed with this entry.

I bought this game a while ago and completed it. The graphics are amazing for being on the ps4. The game itself is a master piece due to its story, gameplay, and graphics. I spent over 100 hours doing every thing in the game and it was worth it. A definitive edition is coming out this year in December and they are adding more content!

Love it!!!! Game is amazing. Buying it on switch in the future. Already put 30 hours into it and have no intention on stopping. The grinding doesn't get old, nor does the story. The animation and music is also top notch. This game has you by the seat and keeps you on your toes. One of the best rpg and best dragon quest games on the ps4 and switch.

It's been so long since we got a AAA turn based JRPG stateside on a home console. I've truly missed this style of gameplay. The grind if you want, blast through if you want style is definitely my jam. The graphics are great and will hold up years down the road. The music is good, if a bit repetitive. Might be a nitpick but I'd love the option to stream other music especially during long grind sessions. The Fun Size Forge mini game is great and way more intuitive than I expected. 30 hours in, the story is pretty much the same as all JRPGs which is both a blessing and a curse. They don't go too crazy, needlessly complicating it, however most of the plot twists have been fairly predictable. The one exception is pretty early on which I'll not give any spoilers to. Overall, it is great to see Square Enix on their A-Game again.

The first game I ever owned on my NES was the original Dragon Warrior. So I’ve been playing this series for a long time. Over the years I have always enjoyed it and some games have stood it more then others. This game is one that stand out! Great story, great graphics, and great play control. I don’t know that there is just one thing that stand out...it’s more of overall package. Long times fans will be happy. New fans will be happy. RPG fans will be happy. And you definitely get your money’s worth. It’s a long game. The only suggestion I would have..is if you ave the ability to play the switch version...do that instead of ps4. The ability to play both handheld and tv is great..the added content like classic mode is so very cool. I wish personally I would have waited the extra time. But being a long time fan I just couldn’t. Great game MUST BUY!

Dragon quest eleven has reminded everyone how great a traditional rpg experience can be. The game has a gripping story that keeps you playing to find out the next development. Though for new players its best to know this game is a long title to play.

First off I love this the graphics in this game, they are just amazing from the waves in the water to the trees branches blowing in the wind, the art direction is top notch. Turn based battles return for DQ XI, which is not for everyone but I’m old school so I very much enjoy it. The overll gameplay is more or less the same as the previous games, either you like it by now or you dont. I’m only 15 hours in but so far the story is very good not overly simple or cliched like a lot of JRPG's released these days. I would recommend this to anyone that has grown up with Dragon Quest or any other old school JRPG. You don’t have to play the previous DQ games to understand the story of this one, but if you have played previous DQ games, you'll see some familiar references

I LOVE the Dragon Quest series, been playing them since the very first one on my NES. The only thing holding this iteration of the series back is the challenge - it's too easy. That's not a criticism I use very often but, in this case, it fits. The battles are simply hit ATTACK and watch as you demolish every enemy in front of you. Regardless, I LOVED the story in this one and the graphics are amazing.

People will have a love-hate relationship with this game. If you hate JRPGs you won't like this game but if you like JRPGs you will really love this game. This is Dragon Quest at its best, with a much better battle system, graphics and world building. It might be slow at times but this is truly a game that is meant to be enjoyed and not rushed, as the journey to the end will take you to many memorable places and stories that will last long in your memory. Now, if only we can get the features from the Switch's Definitive Edition into the PS4, at least the awesome orchestral arrangement of the music...

Dragon Quest XI is a classic JRPG, running with modern graphics, in a high quality presentation. It tries to appeal to the nostalgia of people who've played other Dragon Quest games quite a bit, with some old school sound effects mixed in, classic music, and enemies. I haven't played previous Dragon Quest games, but this all still has a bit of charm to it. The game is a bit on the easy side, so for me it's been a relaxing, easygoing experience. It would be good for younger players, around middle school age, in my opinion.

Dragon Quest is one of those JRPGs that stand the test of time no matter which generation you decide to start playing it on. Even the original Dragon Quest which dates all the way back to NES is still a very enjoyable game although short. Newer games do span over 50 hours which makes it a very bang for for buck type of game. The story is sublime and the graphics which are still on the original style from Akira Toriyama now looks better than never with the introduction of HD graphics. Definitely a must buy

Even though I haven't played many DQ games, but I can honestly say this is one of the best RPGs out there and I've played lots of those, FF7, The Witcher, Breath of the Wild to name a few. Character development is engaging, I actually was invested in the characters and was sad or happy when those characters display those emotions or if something happened to them. Love the story as well as the graphics. Gameplay and controls were spot on. Old game, but get it if you haven't tried it!
