    Excellent Product!

USB3 and this HDD/SSD enclosure make storing, formatting, wiping and partitioning drives for myself and for family EASY! I had seven HDD's and two SSD's to wipe then save for future use. It's so much easier having an external case with hot-connect ability for a Windows Desktop PC. This enclosure is durable, nicely setup for long term use or quick swap-outs. I keep a 500GB HDD in the enclose for a tertiary storage/backup. If I need to take huge files with me on the road I just unplug the power cord and USB3 cord and off I go with shareable data. Attached is an example of the transfer rate from my primary SSD to the WD Caviar in the enclosure.

    High Quality Enclosure

I needed an external backup solution for my home server. I was already in possession of a WD enterprise class 1.5TB SATA drive. I just needed a good enclosure and fast data transfer capability. Well.....the Dynex - 3.5" Serial ATA Hard Drive Enclosure was the perfect answer. The design is practical. It has a high quality sturdy build. And it functions perfectly with a large capacity SATA drive. The enclosure does not cause the drive to become too warm. My server backups run flawlessly. My only complaint is that I really wish the power cord port and the USB cable port were located on the opposite end of the unit. I'd prefer to see the two LED indicator lights and power switch on one end, and all connector ports on the other. This would result in a much cleaner cable management scenario. But this is a very minor design preference issue for me. So, I am really happy with this product. I'd recommend it to others looking for an enclosure for a high storage capacity external SATA drive backup solution

Good enclosure for converting internal drive

Only took a few minutes to enclose my old internal drive, and the parts fit together as they should. However, I had to almost crimp the wires in order to connect the drive inside the case. That part of the design could be improved, but the connection works. In any event, the case is sturdy and the drive has been working great. I've not noticed any problems with heat. I like this enclosure as well as any others I've used in the past to recycle old internal drives. I suppose there is nothing wrong with the plastic cases, but this case feels rock solid.

I mainly bought this HD enclosure to use it with a spare 3TB hard drive. I connected it to OS X Mountain Lion and Mavericks without any issues. I also connected the drive to a WIN 7 machines running Paragon Software. The enclosure has the perfect size and keeps the drive cool. It is worth the price.

I was able to take apart the old external drive, swap out the hard drive into this new unit and get right back to work. A great product that solved my problem for almost no cost compared to repairing the old unit.

Main problem was fitting HP Pavillion S3020N hard drive into device. It did eventually fit, but was difficult to do. Best Buy did it for me, but if they hadn't, I would have not have had confidence forcing it as they did. Device works fine as external storage for my Gateway laptop. All the original hard drive files are accessible and it has been easy to add more files for storage. I am pleased with the device as external storage for the low price and ease of use once setup..

I had a 500 GB HDD left over from replacing a dead desktop, and I had no extra bays in the new desktop. i used this enclosure to make this an external HDD. Incorporating the HDD into the enclosure was simple. Connection to the desktop is via USB 2. Windows recognized the device and installed the appropriate software. Access was immediate, performance was good, and the enclosure accommodates HDDs up to 1.5 TB. Overall, great solution for my need.

It's a nice looking, functional case that allows one to insert a SATA hard drive and simply connect it to the PC with a USB cable. They even give you a small Phillips screwdriver to use on the screws to open and close the case. It comes with a power block and USB cable. It takes less than five minutes to get it up and running. It does stand up on the desk without a stand but a small plastic stand would add a nice touch.

Practical USB 3.0 enclosure for 3.5 inch SATA HDD

This is an aluminum enclosure for 3.5 in. SATA HDD. I upgraded my iMac, and ended up with an extra 1TB HDD. So, I went to Best Buy and picked up this enclosure. It was very easy to open and mount the hard drive. The power supply is a standard 12 VDC round connector, unlike other enclosures that use a dedicated DIN connector.

Very easy product to use. I don't hear the drive running when the enclosure is on. Love the fact that the power switch is in the front. Compatibility is great. Only have USB2 in the house so I can't vouch for USB3 capability but it worked great on 3 PCs at home as well as for the WII.

This will work to mount SATA drives quite well, no software required. However, even at idle, the case gets extremely warm which could cause the drive to overheat. I would recommend using it then disconnecting and turning off the drive. A standby power mode feature would be beneficial.

A Nice USB 3.0. I upgraded the hard drives in my pc, so I had some old 2TB units. When I plugged them in, the Dynex worked liked a dynamo. Perfect. I did notice it does tend to run a little hot, so I wouldn't recommend leaving it on for hours on end.

I bought 2 of these and like them. Mounting is easy. All the holes line up and the hard drive seems very secure. Power supply seems like good quality. Black aluminum case looks good and is solid. USB works well so far.
