I like the design of the unit. It has a small footprint and is easy to use. It heats up the space quickly and the remote is handy. The only thing about the unit that could be better is that it is a little noisy when the heater comes on. I have not used the fan yet but the initial test run of the fan seems to be ok. I am looking forward to using the fan during warm weather.

I bought this heater to use in my finished basement, which gets a little chilly in the winter. I have a home theater set up down there which is the primary area I wanted to keep warm. My first comment is the size. I did not read the size specifications before ordering this, but it was about half the size of what I expected, which I think is a good thing. It comes with a handy remote, has a sleek appearance and performs well. I like the thermostat feature and fan speed adjustment. You can also control the oscillation speed, all from the remote. The unit is quieter than I expected and puts out a good amount of heat. It also doubles as a fan. The only con I can list about this unit is the cost, but I do not regret the purchase. You pay for the sleek design and solid performance.

Love the look and design, the cooling part and the way it oscillates, but I feel the heater isn't throwing as much heat as I would like. The fan on cool however really moves the air around. I also like how the remote is magnetic and sits on the top of the unit. I would recommend this product.

I bought this item on sale to use in my bedroom for the winter. It heats up a room very quickly. Even when I used it in my living room it was able to heat a large space well. It doesn't cool as an air conditioner but more as a fan. It's also very loud when turned up on high, but I don't mind that because I like to sleep with the sound of a fan.

So I have had this thing under my desk for a few weeks now. It is set at 90 degrees in a 12x12 room. My knees are less than 2 feet from it and my pants never get hot. Some may say that's a good thing, but when my feet are still cold and I want to set them in the center of the loop-that's not a heater, that's an ottoman. Set at 90 degrees it runs constantly and after 12 hours, the temp on the wall clock above it has never gone above 76 degrees. Set at 85, it will turn off and you get a brief moment of peace and quiet then it kicks back on. I said peace and quiet because with a fan speed setting of 1 to 10 it's too annoying set anything higher than 1. I have to turn it off to talk on the phone or it sounds like I'm in the cabin of an airplane, or so I'm told. And in case you were wondering, the air does not get warmer the higher the fan speed. It just gets drafty and you'll want to grab a jacket.
As for the cooling, I assume the heat element turns off and it just blows air. It's hard to tell for sure since there is no hot nor cold setting, only the temperature setting from about 40F degrees to 99F degrees. At some point it just blows room temperature air. You may want to open a window to actually change the room temperature if it is cooler outside than inside.
So in summary, did I get my money's worth? Well, that depends on if I'm big into the brand name and having guests comment about my heater and think I'm all that and a bag of chips by the coin I dropped on this thing.... then yes. On the other hand if you want something that will warm you up, you'll be better served buying a sweat shirt .
Did I keep it or return it? Well, it's still under my desk doing the best it can as I type this up. I think I'll keep it just because it compliments my stainless steel trash can so well. It also makes me feel like I have money to burn to buy trophies like this. Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

Our HVAC system crashed in the heat of the summer and the technician couldn't repair it for a few days. Our old noisy fan (30 y/o) was so loud we couldn't hear the TV. So it was on sale we bought it. This thing is great and in fact I have it on now with the HVAC. We were able to reduce our HVAC bills down by running the dyson - you can't hear it and I place it on the timer and let it go. It moves the air around and with the 160 range of movement the whole room stays cool.

I love Dyson products! The design for this fan/heater is sleek and attractive. Heater works pretty well and heats up a space fairly quickly. I love that it comes with a remote so I can control it (temp/speed) from the comfort of my bed! My only draw back with this item is that I wish it were a bit quieter. Even on its lowest fan setting/speed, I have to turn up the volume on my TV to compensate. *Dyson...make it quieter, please.*
Still love it, though.

I bought this to heat a room in my basement that has no other heat. After my initial dismay, I tried turning it on during the day and leaving the door closed for a lengrthy period of time. When I came back I was surprised to find how hot the room was. Turning it on at night when it is already colder and has less time to work is somewhat useless. I did take it to a heated room and pt it in front of a hot water radiator. It did do a great job of spreading the warm air around a large room. So, it has more than one use. I am still trying it out in the basement, will report again if there is a definitive best way to use this. I haven't decided if the cost is justified so I am not recommending it so far.

Put this in our Family room (~10x20 with high ceiling) since there are so many windows, and the house heat couldn't keep up when the temps got into the single digits. This helped keep the room at 70 degrees, and did it automatically. Also, the pets couldn't mess it up. Would have rather gotten the bigger model, but it's expensive enough as is.

This unit was purchased with the intention of heating a bedroom on the upstairs level of a house for the room to be comfortable at bedtime. This is being used during the winter months where the temps are 30F and below. The bedroom has high ceilings and the windows are in need of replacement. The unit heated the room adequately within 15-20 minutes but I do close the bedroom door to trap the heat and thus decreasing the amount of time the unit needs to run. A timer on the unit would be very helpful but it does not have one. Looking forward to see how the cooling feature works. Quite expensive but I found it to be worth the money. Better values may be out there but good luck with experimenting as this unit does the job.

Unit works well as a cooling fan. The remote is very useful and I appreciate the magnetic storage which should help keep it from disappearing, considering its small size. The heat function works well in small rooms, but it can tend to cycle off & on quickly. When using in heat mode, the fan still blows at a higher than expected speed, even on the lowest fan speed setting, so be sure to use it indirectly. Fan noise is louder than I expected from Dyson.

I am impressed. A little skeptical (or hard to justify to the wife) with the price but now we (she) use it every time we feel a chill. It is perfect for us as we live in so cal and don't need the heater too often. The Best Buy exclusive color looks cool (but heats) as a bonus. It heats to temperature almost instantly and you can control with the small remote that sticks to the top with an imbedded magnet. The light weight also allows for easy move from room to room if needed. Dyson does it again.

Unlike other heaters that spit out super hot air that is easily felt, the Dyson unit blows out more of a luke warm stream of air that eventually warms up the entire space. You might be tempted to think that it is broken at first, but be patience for about ten minutes and suddenly you'll find yourself very comfortable.
Its quiet and works as advertised, but the price point is incredibly steep. Not sure if I'd ever make that purchase again.

Great heater to heat up a room. Small but powerful. Dyson is brand name and gives you a brand product. You can move this to any room and it does not tip over. Throws off enough heat in any room.

I tried out a few of the Dyson fans on display at my local Best Buy and was very impressed with the amount of airflow vs noise that most of the units generate. Unfortunately, the hot + cool wasn't available to demo at my store, so I bought one based on the performance of the other units. When I turned it on, I was somewhat shocked at just how loud the thing got when I cranked it up. I also tried out the heater feature of the unit. While it does produce heat, I have to say I was pretty underwhelmed overall with the capabilities of the device I just paid 400 dollars for. I would not recommend one of these. The basic fans are way overpriced, but at least they perform better than most non-Dyson models. If you are looking for a space-heater, you can get significantly more bank for your buck with other brands.

Hi Duke, this is Joe with Dyson. Thank you for your review of the AM05. The AM05 is a bit louder than our air multiplier range when on fan mode. This is due to the ceramic heating plates in the loop. The fan features 10 different speed settings, so perhaps using a lower speed setting will dissipate some of the unintended noise.
Our AM05 evenly heats a room quicker than any other space heater and is more energy efficient. We value your feedback and would like to learn more about your experience, please feel free to send us an email with your contact details to [email protected] and we will be in touch.
Best wishes,
Joe

Great heater - a little louder when used in a very small office, but larger office, it's ideal. Also works excellent in my garage to take off the chill.
