Excellent vacuum, though it's definitely pricey.

I had previously owned a Dyson for over 5 years, but the vacuum was clearly needing to be replaced. I had considered buying a newer model, but the prices swayed me to purchase a comparable Hoover instead. This was a mistake.
The Hoover model overheated and began to smoke in less than a month. I have a dog who sheds quite a bit, so vacuuming is necessary to keep hair lying around to a minimum, and a vacuum that wasn't working was something that was going to have to go. Fortunately, I was able to return the vacuum to Best Buy and get a full refund. That same week they coincidentally had a small price sale on this Dyson model. As I said earlier, the price was steep, but my prior experience with my last Dyson was very good overall, and the brief experience I had with the Diablo Hoover was enough to convince me that the higher price was reflective of the quality of the Dyson.
The dust collecting canister is much bigger than the previous model I had, allowing me now to vacuum my two floor house in one go, rather than having to stop and empty the canister two or three times like my older model. It also has a much longer power cable, which is great for basically the same reasons. The suction on the vacuum is very strong, though I am very careful to use it on rugs, as the beater and suction do seem like they could be too much for it.
The attachments do work well, though there aren't enough storage compartments on the vacuum for all of them, which is disappointing. I know I have extra accessories for the wand, but I don't feel like having to go searching for them in the closet. The design of the wand is a bit strange. While similar to how my previous model contained the wand in the handle, you flip the top of the handle on this model, and it reveals the hose/wand. It's a minor variance, but confused me a bit as to how to get the wand out. Suction on the wand is great, which is an issue I had with the Hoover vacuum, as it seemed to struggle to get clumps of hair or debris up.
My biggest issue with the vacuum is the weight. It's much harder to vacuum my staircase, lifting the much bulkier, taller and heavier vacuum. I'm a woman in my 60s. I can still lift this, but I'm much more cautious and slower than I was with the older model. Like I said, it's great that the power cable is longer and that the canister holds more, I just didn't expect the weight added to be that much greater. You don't need the strength of the Hulk to lift it, but it can be tight on stairs is what I'm getting at.
Overall it's a great product. It cleans well, addressed things I didn't like about my old model (short power cable and small canister) at the cost of size and weight, but I can manage that. The price was high, but it hasn't had any electrical issues and is keeping my floors fairly dog hair free.
Keep a lookout for a sale on the product if it interests you. Hopefully I get at least 5+ years out of it like my last one.

I love my Dyson vacuum! It performs amazingly; it has the best suction, useful attachments, it's air purifying, and really easy to empty. I haven't needed to clean the filter yet, but it's also super accessible for when the time comes. My mom had one when I was a teen that's still going strong, so I know the brand has great lasting power as well, which is why I chose to purchase my own. The only gripe I have is that it comes with several attachments, but no bag or way to keep them together with the vacuum. I just put them all in a bag by the vacuum in my home, but it would have been nice/courteous if they would have provided one that could attach to the handle or something. Overall though, it performs like a charm, was definitely worth the money, and I would chose to make this purchase again every time I reflect back on it.

My first purchase of a Dyson. It was on sale and my three year old Hoover was losing suction power. My in-laws have a more expensive model and really liked it. First time I used it , I kicked myself for not having bought one 15 years ago. We have a large dog, several children, and a large area to sweep. Not only did it remove dirt and dog hair 10x times better than my old vacuum, the time it took to sweep was greatly reduced. Ease of movement is a huge plus. It has a very long cord which is also a great feature. I'm still figuring out the accessory tools and wish there was a way to store them all on the Dyson but that's only a small detractor. So far, it's a definite recommended purchase to my friends and family.

My previous Dyson (DC17 Animal) was about 12 years old (still going strong). Saw this on deal of the day and decided to give it a try. The vacuum comes with numerous attachments and does have excellent suction as advertised. It is easy to maneuver around furniture and does great on both carpet and hard floor surfaces. The power cord is a generous length allowing cleaning in multiple rooms without having to stop and reconnect. My only two concerns are the extra attachments cannot be stored on the vacuum for ease of access and longevity of the canister. The material the canister is constructed from is not as heavy/thick as my older vacuum.

This is a great vacuum. We had a Dyson canister, and were happy with the performance, but it was awkward to move around the house when vacuuming. With this upright and ball design, we get better suction and it is much easier to use. Comes with a lot of attachments and is a versatile machine.

Dog fur creates dust bunnies on my hardwood floors and carpets. This Dyson quickly and efficiently vacuums the dust and particles. It is easy to empty! It is not as heavy as other vacuums designed for pet owners. I am pleased with the powerful suction, ease of use and long cord.

I finally caved and spent the extra cash. I'm completely happy that I did. These vacuums are amazing. The allergy attachments are great--I primarily use the mattress one and the one that reaches beneath your couch. You'll actually look forward to using this on a regular basis

I avoided Dysons for a long time. I thought there was no way they were worth TWICE as much as your average vacuum. But after buying two "average vacuums" in 2 years, we decided to go ahead and try one (with the caveat that we would return it if it didn't live up to the hype.)
Well... it lives up to the hype. I'm a little bummed that not all of the accessories attach to the unit somewhere and that the cord does not auto-retract (two features I miss from our old vacuum.) But it really is a great product. It's got great suction, it's easy to move around, it's easy to empty and clean.
We just love it and will never complain again about how pricey Dysons are.

Vacuum is easy to use and picks up everything. Operates smoothly and easy to empty the refuse. Have several attachments that come in handy. Even dog hat and tiny dust particles are picked up with no effort.

About every year I have to buy a new Vaccuum because my old one burns out from things getting sucked up into it, or just aren't made with quality. My mom really was my test run for this brand, 5+yrs with this Vaccuum and no issues at all. I bought mine for my wife and she won't stop vacuuming the house now :D she loves how easy it is to use and all the attachments that comes with it. No issues at all, we have even used it on tile and wood floors with ease even though it says not meant for it.
Would recommend this product to anyone looking for a long time solution.

I checked warranty inf before buying and appreciate the 5yr warranty. It is extremely strong, came with NUMEROUS attachments and easy to put together. I can't vacuum small bathroom rugs anymore because they get sucked into the vacuum unless we are standing on the 4 corners. It is so strong it is a workout to vacuum due to the suction on the carpet. I appreciate the ability to turn off the rotator brush to vacuum floors. I would give it a 5 if it had some way to reduce the suction... which contradicts the reason I bought it but I cant believe it is so strong, I have recommended the vacuum to other family members.

great suction, great performance. It is a little unruly and cumbersome. Many attachments need room to store. Easy to clean and empty. I would try the cordless next time if I had to buy a new one.

This vacuum has a ton of suction power. Glides nice and easy over tile, wood and thinner carpets. If you have thick carpets you will be in for a workout because it is hard to push with all that suction power. I was surprised at what came out of my carpets that my other vac did not get.

I read so many reviews and almost didn't buy it because of some bad reviews that now make no sense to me. I love this vacuum!! It's replacing a shark, which I was in love with because I thought worked incredible. But after vacuuming with the Dyson I realized how much stuff my old vacuum wasn't picking up. It came with more attachments than I know what to do with. I love it! So far it's well worth the price!

My old vacuum cleaner broke down and I convinced my husband to buy the Dyson and as soon as we got it, we were both thrilled at how much this vacuum sucked out of the carpet! More than a pound of dirt every time!!!! I also love how many extra attachments came with it that add so much versatility to our cleaning routine. It's totally worth it! All other vacuums just leave a pile of dust behind.

I am constantly amazed at how much this vacuum picks up. Just goes to show how inefficient my previous vacuum really was. I particularly like the attachment that allows you to vacuum the mattress and sofa cushions. Highly recommend spending the additional money if you are in the market for a new vacuum!

This is the best vacuum I ever invested in. No complaints about suction power at all. However, I will complain about the hose the attachments clip on to. It is sturdy but too sturdy as when I am dusting of cleaning behind the washer the hose-tube will drag the Dyson and it gets annoying. Second complaint is that it is on the heavy side. So worth the money for that suction power though.

This is my first dyson. I used a friends prior to buying mine and fell in love. We went from a Kirby to the dyson allergy. The suction is awesome and it picks up so much that our other vacuum left behind. Easy to use and move around. The cord is so long and it's nice to have the hose and attachments built in and don't have to store them somewhere else.

I have been impressed with how much grim the Dyson can pull from my clean carpet! It is easy to use. I miss not having a light on the beater bar to help see in darker areas. I notice a lot of extra heat coming off from the motor. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the performance of this machine.
