Once you know how to set it up, it is excellent. Just make sure you get the window mount which is not sold in best buy stores.

I bought the cam as an addition to my Max 360c. The camera takes great photos but the storage bag that Escort provides doesn’t allow you to put both pieces inside the travel bag which makes no sense. I give it four out of five due to this oversight.

I honestly can't agree someone's else comment on smooth footage under 1080P at all. I purchased Thinkware and Blackvue dashcam for my mum and sister. I think theirs are smoother. I also agree someone else comment on this dashcam is lacking features when comparing to other dashcams at this price range. To me... It's very important that this dashcam is using capacitor instead of battery. We had a few dashcams in the past and they all had battery failure. I purchase it only because I have an Escort Radar Detector.

Overall the video has been very good. 1080p at 30fps isn’t anything to write home about these days, it would have been great to have a 4k option, either 24fps or 30fps, or at least 1080p at 60fps. But for Escort’s first dash cam, it’s a solid performer. The color gamut is very nice and the night time mode works really nicely. Overall resolution is pretty good, nice clear video and audio, and the built in mic is very good. I do have one issue with the video however, I’m not sure if it’s an artifact of the wide angle lens design on the M1, but the far right side of my video seems out of phase, almost like you’re seeing double. Could be a lens issue, or processing issue, but compared to the left side of the video, the right side definitely looks a little different. But it’s mainly on the far right 1/3 of the frame, the rest of the picture is very nice. It’s powered by your detector power cable, in my case I’m using it with the iXc unit. The M1 simply mounts to the same mounting cup as your detector, with the supplied mounting arm, and power is received from the detector cable, then passed through to the detector, keeping it very clean and neat, only needing one cable. The M1 app for iOS and Android allows you to see all the video clips recorded or see a live view of the camera. You can easily download the videos to your smartphone and share them however you’d like, or store them locally, or download videos to a computer using the USB connection.
