Customers love the extensive gameplay, abundant content, and enjoyable crafting system in Fantasy Life. Many appreciate the variety offered by the numerous classes and find the game to be fun and engaging. However, some find the story and dialogue to be underwhelming and repetitive aspects detract from the overall experience for some players. The game's difficulty may also be a factor for some.

Fantasy Life captures the best of fantasy RPG's by allowing many different play styles, perfect for any type of gaming, including every style at once. This game can go from an action RPG to an Animal Crossing-esque style and back again, great for those familiar to RPG's looking for something a little simpler but quite charming or to those new to the genre. While none of the game's mechanics are overcomplicated like combat or performing a job it also doesn't challenge the player in terms of a ground-breaking story. I, for one, welcome the simplicity and enjoy an RPG without an over-arcing sense of doom and gloom. Overall Fantasy Life is colorful, has great writing, and ultimately succeeds with having multiple styles of play, perfect for casual, hardcore, or something in between.

Fantasy Life is a huge RPG with tons of content to keep you busy for hours and hours, even if some of that content is a little mundane. The overall story of Fantasy Life is just a little meh, nothing to write home about but not so boring you lose interest while playing. I hope you like to read because this game has text lots and lots of text. With 12 jobs to switch between with crafting, gathering, and combat there's a little something for everyone here.

Best handheld RPG?

I normally don't game on handhelds. Most of my gaming occurs on my PC, followed by consoles, then distantly trailed by my old 3DS.
And then I got this game together with a friend.
There is just so much to do in this game! I'm more of the "completionist" type when it comes to most games, and this game definitely ticked that box for me. The story, which is simple yet still with plenty charm, can be finished somewhat quickly, but aside from that, there's much left to conquer. Different classes, recipes, crafting, locations... I've easily dumped over 100 hours into this game, and I still love it.

These coolest part of this game is that you can be your own tailor, blacksmith, carpenter, cook, and also fight with multiple styles. Also being able to play with friends and trade items is a big plus to this as well. You can multitask or focus on one thing at a time. The storyline is ok and there's a lot of reading (some characters are long winded), but the free play is great. My suggestion is to save your Dosh (money) so you can afford a house in each city (when they become available).

I really didn't think I would like it. And I was wrong. What's nice is that it is casual rpg, not too intense, and easy to play. The system is relatively easy to learn.
But where it gets good is the DLC. It turned super hard core in terms of difficulty. And to master all the classes and what not, I have 150+ hours into this game.
The story is simple and the bosses are,a little too easy for the main story. But that's not where this game shines.
Would recommend this to anyone.

I really enjoy this game. The characters are cute. I don't care too much for the story however it is still pretty fun after the story ends, you can quest, level up your life classes, craft your weapons make clothes and armor and play co-op with friends!
I do recommend getting the origin DLC, it unlocks alot more for character customizatin and more places to go.

Good graphics, fun game play, and a ton of quests. You always have something to do when playing this game, Your life that you choose can take you to different paths, and if you don't want to have the life you choose you can change it mid game play and not lose anything. Which is a big help for some quests that you may get in your journey.

At first, I wasn't sure if I would like the game with how cartoony it looked, but after playing it, I gotta say I was definitely wrong! This game has got to be the most interesting and fun game I've ever played on a handheld system, more fun than majority of other games I've played as well. Each class is called a 'life' and there are many to chose from. Paladin, archer, mage, cook, miner, woodcrafter, blacksmith, alchemist, and many others. You can only be one at a time, but you can freely switch between any of them whenever you want at the guild master in each major city. Each 'life' has a set of challenges for you to do and by doing them, you raise your rank within that life. Although I have not tried it yet myself, the game does have a multiplayer option. You and 2 others can roam the world, team up to fight monsters you weren't able to beat alone or can help each other out by crafting items for one another who may need them. Along with all that, the story line itself is actually pretty funny. I recommend read through all of the dialog when playing instead of the typical 'mash the A button until I can move" type of thing :)

I really enjoyed Fantasy Life. As a long time fan of the Animal Crossing series, I was looking forward to playing something that would give me a similar experience. And to a certain degree, that's what I got. But with a little more purpose and depth. The combat is fun, but a little repetitive. The gathering and crafting are in the same boat as well. Overall, a fun game, but it could use a little more variation.

This game was kinda uneasy with me at first. I bought it and tried it. And I loved it! Its a great game to sink yourself into, I just beat it at like 50 some hours but there is so much left to do! 12 different classes and unique places to explore! A Must for everyone :)

Like the title, this game is very engaging in short bursts. Although grinding is required for many of the quests and skills to level up, at no point did it ever feel tedious after a long session of play.

So many lives and so much to do! There are so many things to do with 12 lives in this game that you can imagine. To me, I get the Animal Crossing and RPG feel with this game and it makes it really enjoyable. However, I felt like that the gameplay was the prime focus of the game. The story is alright and dialogue can get really lengthy but overall enjoyable.

I haven't finished the game quite yet, but it is pretty fun. I like the gameplay and creativity in what you can do. It's also got a quirky charm to it with the dorky music and character interactions. The controls are mediocre, though, and maybe even the worst out of any game I have played. They are very finicky and wonky, and it leaves me frustrated. The story has also been sort of boring and uninspired to me, so I haven't been constantly drawn to play the game. To be honest, I've had to force myself to pick the game up to continue the game. I think it might turn around for the better, but my first impressions are that it's not bad but not much else.

This is a wonderful little 3DS game with hours and hours and hours of stuff to do in it. There are tons of options to choose from with your in game life, and you can change your class (what they call Life) whenever you want at a guild building. Great for anyone who wants tons of gameplay options and ways to play.
The main downfall: there is about 10 times more talking in this game than doing stuff. I have literally just sat there for actually 2 minutes at a time just mashing A to get through dialogue that is sometimes cute, but definitely not worth the stop in gameplay. It's pretty bad. Yet I still enjoy it, so that tells you how important the storyline is...

Good single-player game with MMORPG concepts

Fantasy Life is a fun game, similar to MMORPGs in the sense that you can fight monsters, gather materials, and create various things with said materials. Your ability to do said things varies based on the Life you choose, which can be changed at any time. After you progress through a basic main story that is moved forward primarily by going to a marked area on your map and going through story conversations with charming dialogue, you can explore more areas which yield tougher monsters and better materials to craft things with. Over time things can start to feel a little samey, but the game does a great job of enticing you to at least try each life so you can interact with everything you see and pick-up. If the concept of the Life system interests you, and you're okay with the fact that this isn't a story heavy game, chances are that you'll enjoy this game.

I played this before and loved it, so I bought it for my cousin's daughter for Christmas. She is 6 and 1/2 and while she needed some instruction at first she really liked it. While my cousin was teaching her how to play he and his fiancé liked it so much they went out and bought another 3DS and another copy of the game so they could play together. Sure to fill hours upon hours of fun if you like to play different classes (they have 16). I know I've put in over 100 hours and thoroughly enjoyed it as well.

I have put well over 100 hours into this game since I purchased it in December. It is a great, fun game with adorable art and designs, similar to how I love the look of Animal Crossing. You can choose to do one or more of many "Lives" and follow many sub quests. The story itself is nothing great, and often I find myself dozing off with the extremely long narrative. When I do pay attention, the conversations can actually be kind of funny, but ultimately, I tend to skim through the talk. Still, a great game! There is also additional DLC (at a minor price) which adds more quests, gear, weapons, and I believe you can also have a pet dragon. All in all, definitely worth it!

Fun RPG with plenty to occupy your time. Combat is simple, but fun. Crafting is extensive. Storyline is funny and immersive. Multiplayer mode makes playing with your friends fun too
