Once you get the hang of the controls the game is loads of fun. At first I thought this game was gonna suck because the controls and camera were harsh. Picking up Phantoma is still a pain because it's bound to the same button as attack (stupid) so a lot of times you end up attacking when you want to pick harvest items from your kill and you only have 10 seconds to do so. I have gotten better at it though. You know the funny thing though, is that people are complaining about the Order 1886 having a ton of cut scenes.. dude really... this game has LOADS of cut scenes, but it doesn't really bother me, gives me time to get into the plot.
Positives:
Fun immersive gameplay
Fast paced action with some violence (nice change for a FF game)
Negative:
Graphics even at high def aren't great but it's to be expected from a PSP remaster (not a remake)
Camera angles suck
They don't cover much of what the La'cie is so if you haven't played FF13, you sorta are wondering what the heck.

Final Fantasy Type 0 is a port from the PSP, this is glaringly obvious sometimes. They decided to only remaster some of the textures so the game looks quite weird sometimes when you have a beautiful HD character model next to a NPC ripped straight from the PSP.
Gameplay wise this is a fast action, sometimes brutal game. the camera is pretty bad but put that aside the combat is solid and even though you have a lot of characters you end up wanting to play them all because they all play different in a good way.
The story is where this game shines, it strays away from typical Final Fantasy titles and offers a gritty, bloody, violent story of war. You will see more blood in the first 5 minutes of this game than in the last 13 Final Fantasy games combined.
All and all a decent game if you keep in mind this is just a port of a PSP game, don't go in with super high ambitions but it serves well as a place holder for FF 15.

This formerly Japanese only PSP game finally comes to the PS4 with updated graphics, soundtrack, and controls. Fans of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII will feel right at home with this game's combat system and that makes this one of the franchise's more unique games. The storyline needs a couple of playthroughs to fully understand for most players and the camera is a little too wild to be useful, but overall, the game is fun and the battle system will keep you engage throughout.

Final Fantasy 0 had me in tears in the opening scene, and for the next 40 hours I would experience everything from sadness to disbelief as the thin but reverent story unfolded. During that same time, the zippy action-based combat made running around the world of Orience a lively experience, though viewed through an occasionally obstinate camera. Type-0 has a strange dichotomy of action and emotion, but it comes together to create a roleplaying game that works on multiple levels.

I'm a long-time Final Fantasy fan who has been playing this series since the NES days. After FF XIII, I became jaded about the series, wishing for the glory days of JRPGs to return. Final Fantasy Type-0 HD may not be the best game in the series, but it's a step in the right direction. It has a cool battle system, provides a challenge in terms of gameplay, and offers a good main story. I recommend this game for FF fans.

While a spinoff of ff 13, and the whole battle system is def dif it's more action based vs menu based in this one, it's easy to learn and the upgraded graphics make it much tolerable on the big screen... Though not the best for the ps4 can do. But give it to square ENIX to always deliver on a good story though maybe sometimes makes confusing... It's regardless still a good purchase

Final Fantasy Type 0 is a fantastic game. A game not intended for home consoles to be sure but a fantastic have nonetheless. The gameplay and mission structure make it painfully apparent that it was intended to be played on-the-go. However it still feels more than welcome when sitting on the couch. The story is gripping, the cast is mostly fun and interesting. It feels new though not unfamiliar. It's a return to form in many ways.
This game also comes bundled with Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae. Episode Duscae is for all intent and purpose a demo to Final Fantasy XV. And the most fun I've had playing a demo since I convinced my parents to buy me a game I vaguely remember (Tobal No. 1?) just to get my hands on it's bundled demo, Final Fantasy VII.
All I will say of it is this, if Type 0 alone was not worth the price of admission, this demo more than makes up for it.

A Mature Final Fantasy

This is a game many have been waiting for a long time to come to the U.S.
It was originally a game for the PSP handheld console, but the game has now been graphically updated for the PS4. While Type-0 looks great, you can definitely see its PSP origins.
As a plus, Type-0 is actually a relatively more mature Final Fantasy game. And for those who loved the young military style of FF8, it's back in Type-0. There's an even larger cast of characters to play as, though all are not as fleshed out as FF8's. Type-0 is also an Action rpg, which differs greatly from FF8's slower, stand in a line, turned based combat.
Some found that Type-0 had camera issues when first released, actually causing people to have motion sickness. This issue has been addressed with a recent patch however.
Type-0 also came with a playable demo of the up-coming FF15, which was a lot of fun especially after the last patch for the demo. The graphics, combat, and character interaction for FF15 is top notch.
Though the demo was only supposed to be available for the first run of Type-0, it may still be available if you order Type-0 soon.

This game has alot of characters to chose from and the battle system is a blast once you get use to it. The only down side is the voice acting and the camera is blurry when you look around during the missions. And if you can get a first edition copy you get the final fantasy 15 demo which is a SUPER plus!!!

This is a fantastic game. I'm sure many will buy just to get the FFXV Episode Duscae demo included with it, but Type-0 is a truly good game. Different from Final Fantasy's before it, it is now a darker setting.
This is real time action gameplay, and it is fairly deep and plenty fun. Lots of characters to pick from, each with their own style of play, you want to try each one at least once.
Many different difficulty settings, along with a NG+, AND a NG++ as well.
The story is nothing to scoff at, the music can be very chilling and very impacting to the experience as well.
Overall, it's a game any RPG fan should have on his shelf.

FF type 0 isn't what you'd expect from a traditional eastern RPG. It feels like it has button mashing combat and it feels a bit linear, and the school/down time feels persona-esque but doesn't quite work. That being said, it looks amazing for being a psp game and the characters, while alot of them, are enjoyable and the playstyles of each are varied enough that you'll find one you like. Also the story is engaging enough to keep you interested without being super confusing (looking at you FFXIII)

Final Fantasy Type 0 HD is a remaster of a PSP Final Fantasy game that has never been released in the U.S. For the most part, much of the graphics have been updated to look more in-line with other PS4 games, but there are still many textures and character models that were not given care.
The story of this game disappoints. Much of the dialogue is average or poor and many of Class Zero's characters aren't developed too well. It has potential with the theme of war, but ultimately the narrative feels to disjointed and incoherent. Too much jargon and terminologies are thrown at the person in the beginning that players won't know what is going on.
Despite those flaws, the gameplay holds out well. Combat is real time and plays more like an action game with how fast paced it is. There are still many RPG elements with stats, equipment, etc. However, the game will become increasingly difficult if one does not pay attention to dodging and reacting to enemy attacks. Each of the playable characters have distinct playable styles and they're all viable to use.
I should warn you that the camera system in this game is quite bad. Every time you turn the camera with the right analog stick (speed can't be varied), motion blur is introduced and it can make you experience motion sickness.
When you're not fighting in missions, you're given time to roam at an academy to do side quests, listen to lectures (for exp), and shop around. Each event causes a timer to count down, which then leads to your next mission. It's a novel idea and adds importance to time instead of having characters run around doing fetch quests all day as if a war isn't going on.
Special mention goes to the incredible soundtrack. It's worthy of a mainline Final Fantasy title.
Overall, I can recommend this game if you find the combat system and gameplay fun (along with overlooking the horrid camera). Otherwise, the story and graphics do hold the game down a bit from greatness.

Been waiting for years since this was announced on the PSP and it's finally here on the PS4 in HD. Along with a FFXV demo! For those who love final fantasy and ARPGs this is the game for you. Combat is fun and varied because of the 14 different characters. Story is pretty good though a little convoluted.
The only con in this whole game is the camera. But once you get used to it the fun is non stop.

Final Fantasy Type 0 is a great game that received the HD treatment. The music and gameplay are fantastic although some problems are present. The biggest being the camera and the motion blur. It is very distracting and annoying so I would definitely try and see if that bothers you before purchasing since the camera is a critical part of the game.

This game is a great way for Square Enix to introduce people to a game only released on PSP. The gameplay is fun, as you can switch between 14 characters each with a different ability . There are multiple different fighting styles and lots of customization for each character. There are also mini games like a strategy type battle simulation. The story seems to also have a lot of great ideas and it will be interesting to see if it all comes together. I have about 8 hours in the game and look forward to much more.

I really bought this for the XV demo like 75% of all other buyers did. I played through Type 0, it was a really great game. Combat system is more ARPG then JRPG and that is a good thing for me nowadays. The motion blur and the camera were a little jarring but all in all Type ) was a good game.

The camera is a bit blurry which make this feel clunky to me, the combat makes up for it easily though. The different feel between each characters fighting style is fantastic. Its easy to develop a favorite. I would have enjoyed more character development, so I didn't develop a connection with the characters, but they were fun to use. There is A TON of story they just throw at you, and it is tough to follow. Overall I enjoyed the game though.

This is my first final Fantasy game since ff xii. I really appreciate the option to have the original Japanese audio vs English voice overs. It's a bit more work to read everything but I can't stand the English voice acting sometimes. Only played around 5 hours but the game seems pretty well made. Lots of different aspects to the game. It uses a similar time/day system as p4g albeit not as well.
Biggest complaint: motion blur. Why... Why?!
