Poor peer-to-peer internet service, mediocre combat almost like rock, paper, scissors, and story mode is a bit lacking in character depth and progression.

I got this for under 5 dollars. But to be honest I wouldn't have been upset to buy it for 60. The combat is fantastic. The gamee is fun. But the match making is awful and the single player is meh. So -2.

For Honor is a fighting game wrapped in an adventure game package. Each character plays significantly different. Mastering the various timings on their combos makes it fun and challenging to play the game. It also doesn't tend to require the same twitch responses of most fighters. The combos are much more deliberate and methodical. The fighting mechanics are reminiscent of Dark Souls with a similar level of precision but without the lag. The game is effectively an online game in which I've never experienced any apparent lag, which is essential for it to be a good fighting game. However, the developer's method for avoiding host advantage leads to frequent disconnects (roughly 1 in 20 matches). The disconnect problem has improved drastically since launch, but it still happens frequently enough to be an annoyance. Matchmaking is also very slow. It often take a few minutes to move between matches. For some reason (the hosting strategy perhaps?), players move from match to match with the same group of players in a matchmaking lobby. If players leave the lobby, new players are not immediately recruited to replace them. Instead, leaving players are replaced by bots that might get replaced by players during the next match. Players therefore tend to leave matchmaking lobbies to enter new lobbies after every match, hoping to avoid playing bots. Overall, it makes for a very clumsy experience of moving from match to match.

Poor servers giving disconnects more frequently than id like combined with poor stat balancing and poor skill matchups give this game -3 but the concept and high skill combat more than make up for the bad sides. This game offers you the chance to fight as a samurai viking or knight and compete to show you are the best fighter out there. While your team is certainly needed to consistantly win For Honor still gives individuals the power to single handedly shift the tides of battle. Enjoy the rush of besting someone in a one on one duel or the adrenaline craze when you fend off a multiple attackers. This game is aimed more towards your hard gamers as skill plays a large part in For Honor... now Draw your Sword and fight with Honor for Honor!!!

The graphics are amazing but the servers to play online are terrible. If I would have had to pay full price for this game(59.99) I would not put that money into this game. If they would fix the servers it would be an amazing online game

This was not on my radar, until my son showed interest. After using GCU and some left over credit, the price was past my give it a chance threshold. I'm glad I did, my son is plowing through the campaign while I try to climb the ranks of multiplayer. Yes it's violent, extremely, but it's refreshing to play a game not loaded with meaningless bot profanity. ( looking at you Battlefied , the AI swears more than the players) Don't get me wrong, I swear, but too much and it's just seems like lazy writing. In summary it's a nice change of pace to smite a few fools rather than headshot them! Give it a try!

For Honor provides one of the most satisfying melee combat systems I have ever experienced. Once you get used to the slow and methodical rhythm of combat, you come to appreciate the intricacies of the gameplay. After spending about 50 hours with the game total, I was able to remove the combat UI and rely entirely on the character animations. Every attack can be anticipated and there is a counter for everything thrown at you. This game truly rewards skilled players, as there is no such thing as an unwinnable match for a player of sufficient skill (assuming your connection is good, of course). The single player campaign has you moving through a series of story missions against surprisingly challenging AI enemies; you do have an option to tackle these missions online with a friend. The story is largely very boring and is at times just flat out awkward. While the campaign serves its purpose as a tutorial for the online multiplayer, I can't help but feel that this game would have been better if they embraced the barbarous, overly masculine, and frankly ridiculous premise that this game embodies. Instead we are presented with a confused story which doesn't really find a good angle. However, the meat of this game lay in the online multiplayer. There are a variety of game modes you can enjoy, ranging from 4v4 capture the point style gameplay to 1v1 duels. The 4v4s can be very fun if you're in a fairly balanced group, though it can quickly devolve into a slew of 2v1 or 3v1 matches if your team isn't up to snuff. However, I found that these didn't come very often and I was able to have a good game most of the time. Lastly, if you really want to test your combat prowess and enjoy the gameplay mechanics to their greatest extent, I suggest participating in the 1v1 duels. It is an opportunity to employ all of your available skills and tactics against a single opponent and is incredibly tense and satisfying. Overall, I highly recommend this game to those who have the time and desire to practice the unique combat system it offers. For Honor is certainly not like any game I've played before, nor do I expect to see another like it any time soon. If you enjoy games which heavily focus on online multiplayer and competitive play, I highly recommend this game. If you prefer a solid single player experience and interesting stories, I would look elsewhere. I would rate For Honor 8/10 (4/5 Stars) for excellent game mechanics and great online play, despite a largely forgettable single player experience.

While there are some issues with the game (ie: Unstable connections - due to a peer-to-peer setup instead of dedicated servers, steep learning curve, sometimes annoying community) it is really easy to look past those problems because For Honor's combat is phenomenal. I've never played a game where melee combat is so satisfying. The developers are frequently rolling out updates that help with balance and connectivity issues. If you have the patience to keep trying and to keep learning, this game will keep you invested for hundreds of hours.

For Honor is essentially a multi-player brawler that allows teams of up to 4v4. The control scheme, however, is more than just simple "mash buttons to win." To be a contender in For Honor it involves not only sharp reflexes but mastering the unique and original gameplay. Very fun game for fans of brawlers as well as Vikings, Knights, and Samurais.

The campaign/story mode is a bit lacking but is functional and does a good job of taking you through the classes and getting you ready for multiplayer. Combat is amazing in 1v1s and 2v2s and will get your blood pumping trying to best you opponent. The matches are slower paced and more methodical than a combo heavy fighter like Tekken or Street Fighter, but are just as tense if not more so. The 4v4 modes can be a bit hit or miss; often turning into a mosh pit of a fight where you are overwhelmed by 2,3, or even 4 opponents at once. While it is possible to succeed in these situations it is very difficult and the game simply does not excel in a fight with multiple enemies and it becomes annoying and very frustrating. There is a gear system that only affects the 4v4 Domination mode that is....to be frank....completely broken. You can be put in a match with a very geared person and the difference will be devastatingly large. Again, this is only in the 4v4 Domination and does not alter the experience in the more intimate and traditional (fighting game wise) 1v1 and 2v2 modes. For Honor is not a button masher. It will reward a player who learns the classes strengths/flaws and waits for the right moments to strike.

I picked this up on a whim and only wish that I had gotten this during a snow day or other day off from work. Tutorials at the beginning of game are crucial to learning the fighting interface. I like that it relies more on skill and strategy than just mashing buttons. I've only spent a few hours on it so far but I can see where it just draws you in. My focus has been on the campaign so far. I want to learn how to do well there before going online. It's a steep learning curve.

Let me start off by saying I have not played much multiplayer, but what I have has been fine. I have heard of problems with matchmaking, though. The game is really good, much better than I expected. The combos can be a little annoying, and I prefer Nioh's combat system. However, For Honor has a wealth of options and is fun to play.
