For about a week I've been reading reviews and checking prices for window a/c online and the best deal I found was for this Frigidaire unit. I was a little concerned because of some of the reviews that I read saying that the unit runs loud, is cheaply constructed, and that it didn't cool the room very well. But I took a chance and bought one and I'm glad I did. It on;y took me 10-15 minutes to install and dropped the temp very fast as well. I am so pleased with this unit that I'm gonna buy another one to replace the 13 year old unit in my computer room.

Its a good unit and cools nicely. I didn't see where the unit actually had a remote, but I was really glad it did. My only "issue" (more of an annoyance) is a loud clicking noise when the compressor runs. It sounds like a giant bug is being tossed around and its done that from the beginning. Its also pretty loud for the bedroom, but I've gotten used to it.

We use the window unit to cool a space that is within the recommended square footage for this level of BTU's, and it does the job quite well. Turning it on after work will get the room from 80+ degrees to 72-74 in about 20 minutes on high. The fan isn't quiet, but doesn't rattle and isn't overly loud.
When it is in econ mode and trying to maintain a constant temperature it doesn't do a great job. Temp will vary +/- 5 degrees around the desired temperature, which makes a big difference. We find it easier to set the temp but leave the fan on low and not let it shut off. This keeps the temperature constant.
Longevity is still TBD as we have only had the unit for about a month

Great AC Unit! Easy to install- I bought one for my bedroom and got one larger than needed in the hopes that it would cool my bedroom and my living room when the ceiling fan was on and it works well! It's a little loud but what AC isnt?
The timer function is great too- and the remote is uber convenient-
Good AC All around

I read beforehand that the fan was loud, and it is. Otherwise it pushes out a lot of cool air, does not rattle (as many do) and takes up less space than my old one. Even has some metal parts (not all plastic). But my old Amana is sooooooo much quieter. I see no need to the noisy fan. The technology for quiet ones is here (years ago) and for pretty much the same money.
Good if the noise does not bother you. From the glass-is-half-full dept: if used in a bedroom consider it as a free white-noise machine!

We are glad we purchased the 8000 BTU model.
It has been a great relief during this recent heat wave.
The remote is so nice to have available.
A little loud but you get used to it.
Cools our bedroom quickly.

I love it and have no problems. My wife, who is sensitive to noise at night, says it isn't as quiet as the box says. Personally, as being with a partial hearing loss, can't agree! Any window unit will be noisy to some degree, I understand that and am trying to educate my wife about it.

It works with no issues. We have several Frigidaire branded units.
This unit has electronic controls with memory; so we can use it with an external timer (Actually a Z-Wave relay). Meaning it remembers where you left it (all the settings) after unplugging it and plugging it back on.
As a larger unit; it does generate a fair amount of vibration that translates to extra noise.
It's relatively light for the BTUs, at around 45-50 pounds.
The flaps that cover the window frame do not snap on the window like on the smaller units we have (5000 BTU) so it's a small drawback. It would require either tape or the recommended screws so it stays in place. It seems like a common issue on most units; so can't blame it on this particular model.

works great, not hurting electric bill!

I have a small 2 bedroom apartment, about 700 sq ft I think, and this thing is great. We don't crank it to make sure the whole apartment is an paradise on hot summer days, because we're afraid of our electric bill rocketing. However, we've always used it on the "economy" feature and set it to 70 degrees, and it's maybe increased our electric bill maybe $10 a month. Its set up in our living room and it feels great it, keep the bedrooms at an oak temp. It's not too noisy and it doesn't run all the time. It turns on for a minute or two every 15 minutes maybe? We used a coupon to buy it, and it turned out to be a GREAT deal.

Went from a 5000 BTU to this 8000 BTU. I wanted the 10,000BTU model but found that it was unavailable now. This does have a little more cooling power, but I think the 10,000 would have been the best choice for cooling a room. It is still not bad for the price. Not as noisy as the 5000 BTU I had.

good unit, not too loud, good remote and timer. We have a huge area so we might have bought the 10000 btu unit instead but it works fine. Like the remote with the tier feature.

This 8,000 BTU air conditioner gets the job done. It is effective for an open concept area, especially when a fan is used along with it. It could be a little quieter but we don't have it in a bedroom area and shut it off if we are sitting right next to it.

It is a perfect size and does keep the room cool. I had to turn it off as the nights got cool. It has not been very hot to use this A/C but on the hot days it did the job and I was happy. Great for the price and the size is perfect for my window.

It is common for mid to large AC units to experience a delay in engaging the compressor which delays the air from being cooled. We are talking a minute here which I feel is reasonable albeit annoying. I have a smaller unit of this same series that I use in a bedroom and it doesn't delay at all. What really matters is that these units cool quite well. It takes about 45 minutes but I cool and area easily 2x the recommended cooling area and do not regret the purchase in the slightest.
