The Frigidaire 8000btu air conditioner worked very well. The auto setting is a little noisy and uneven because it turns on and off throughout the cycle. I realize, too, that other ACs have the same style of condenser without a cover. However, when I opened the box, there was some slight rubbing distortion of the aluminum fins apparently from packing. This was cosmetic and did not appear to affect the effective operation of the AC unit. Otherwise, the AC is easy to carry, of a reasonable weight, simple to install, and cools very well. It is a good buy, especially when on sale.

I purchased this AC unit after doing quite a bit of on-line shopping and stopping at a few home improvement stores along the way. Best Buy had the best buy. This 8000 BTU window AC is replacing a 5000 BTU unit and I can really tell a difference in the operation and performance. The economy setting on this AC allows the user to set a desired temperature and the AC does the rest. It is on only when it senses a need to cool some more air. I think this AC will save some money off my electric bill. Installation was also a breeze. At just over 50 pounds it was easy to lift into the window opening. The side curtains fill the gap nicely and after putting in the supplied weather striping materials I have a very secure and well sealed installation.

Cools quickly in large space. Tends to "forget"

We bought this air conditioner for our rather large second story bedroom with a slight vaulted ceiling. Our bedroom is quite large...probably about 350 sq feet. When outside temperatures were 90 degrees or so, it cooled the room to 69 degrees within a couple hours.
The energy/econ mode is good but it tends to "forget" the temperature after about 6 hours. In the middle of the night, it just seems to not want to run any more and a simple off/on makes it all good again.
Not the quietest thing around, but it's still quiet enough to sleep through the night, especially on economy mode where it cycles on and off.
I was rather impressed how much it cooled in regards to sq footage considering it was only an 8,000 BTU unit.

I bought this to replace an OLD A/C unit that has been in my family for 30+ years. It was much larger than this one, and way nosier. I really like this one, especially the clean air option. Sure it adds extra expense, but we felt less stuffy in the mornings after using this. It's easy to maintain and lets you know when it's time to clean the filter. It also doesn't weigh a lot, which was a big issue with the old as we left it in the window year round. With this one, we already took it out after using it all summer and sealed up the house. That should help the heating bills too! The remote control is convenient for my wife to adjust it without having to walk to the other side of the bed.

bought this as an additional air conditioner for an upstairs bedroom. Easy to install and operate. The remote is a big plus. This unit is not as noisy as I expected and it keeps the room temp very well.

I have a one bedroom apt, first floor of a home, 3 full rooms (K, LR, BR & Bath rm) (not a basement). So far I'm loving my Frigidaire 8,000btu AC unit. The sun hits the window where the AC is installed 11:00am-6:00pm, the entire apartment is cool, all the humidity removed. The Clean Air feature really helps my allergies by removing all of the pollen. Using the hairdryer during hot weather is a pleasure with this AC!
My one concern is the drainage...there was no info provided in the manual or on the box about how the water can drain out the back. There are no drainage holes on the bottom of the unit. I literally had to search online for info, after reading other reviewer's Q&A, it was explained that the fan in the back of the unit picks up and blows the water onto the compressor, then it evaporates...? I suppose it's working because there isn't a whole lot of water sitting there, but there is always still a small amount. Hoping this doesn't create an issue down the road, debating on drilling a hole now.
I would definitely recommend this AC unit. Another huge plus, this has to be the lightest AC in weight. I previously had an LG which weighed over 70 lbs. This unit weighs under 50.
Dont hesitate, buy it. You won't be sorry! Have not yet had to change the setting from Economy to Cool (continuos) keeps the perfect temp always!

The installation is easy, you can find the video on youtube. And check the package about the window size it fits for before you purchase.
The air conditioner works well. and it is not noisy. As for a window type, 8000 BTU is the best size, otherwise, it may be too heavy and no safe to install on window.

The air conditioner is the perfect one for my bedroom. It was very easy to install and fits perfectly in the window. Great price for the number of btu's. Since it is winter I have not run it long, just tested when it was installed but felt the air in the room. Looking forward to using it this summer. Highly recommend.

Replaced an old Kenmore 8000 BTU with this model. It installed easily. It is quiet and cools well. When condensed moisture fills up the outside bottom of the case, the fan hitting the water makes some noise. Not sure why they don't have a drain plug hole for very hot humid weather so a hose could be hooked up to drain away the excess moisture collecting in the unit.

I bought this for our average sized living room. It was on sale and I think the price of $230 for fair for what I got. The installation instructions were a bit unclear at first, but overall its very simple to install. Not too heavy so 1 person can do it alone, but I would recommend a second set of hands just in case. Took about 1 hour from start to finish and the hardest part was the foam insulation. It cools the room adequately and I love the remote control. We have used it for 2 days of hot weather now and are happy with the results. I only wish the display was a little bigger so that it was more visible from farther away, but that's not a deal breaker.

Replaced an older unit for a bedroom and can feel this air conditioner cooling the rest of the apartment! However, and this is a big however, even on the lowest fan speed it sounds like a small turbine is in the room so this may not be the best choice for a bedroom particularly for light sleepers. 5+ Stars for the cooling; 3 for the noise.

Bought this for a room that is a little less than 300sqft and it works great. Cools the room almost immediately when in use. It not ridiculously noisy compared to some of the other units I've heard in use, but it isn't silent by any means. My electricity bill didn't go up at all after installing and running this a few hours per day/night a few days a week during the hottest weather.

Easy setup. adaptable to to various types of windows and openings.
Use less energy than unit it replaces. Gives even cooling throughout room
Filter is in front of unit and easy to take out to clean. Get personnel to plug it in for you so you don't lug home and then return it because it doesn't work.

My ministry purchased this for a disabled man in our flock. His "walmart-not-so-special" piece of junk died on him at a time of a dangerous, early and unanticipated heat wave. This was a life-saving miracle Blessing for this gentleman, and we know from our own past experience with the brand that it will last him for about 15 years of climate-controlled environment without sending his utility bill through the roof. We are most grateful and will buy more of these as become needed to preserve life and health through the brutal summer months.

I use this for my whole apartment I keep it in my living room. It keeps that room nice and cold on those hot days, and the rest of the rooms stay comfortable. It is a good in between between the smaller ones and super big and expensive models.
