I bought this item 5 weeks ago and expected a bit more. I drive to many locations daily and so far the only problems I have had with the gps is that for some reason it keeps telling me a certain highway is closed? It is not closed? It also was telling me a certain freeway ramp was closed? There is not even any construction anywhere near it? I have yet to enter a location that it cannot find. I like that I really don't have to pick a category to find a location. Just start entering in the search box. Real nice, The voice recognition also works very well. The camera is excellent. video looks great on the unit itself and great on a computer when viewing it The formats are 1080P and 720P. You can also choose if you want to record audio with it..You can move the lens left and right but not up or down. You can watch the video on the gps unit with a split screen map location on one side video on the other or full video. Its even better on a computer. It comes with a 4gig micro sd card. I just bought a 64gig to replace the 4. It has front end collision warning and lane departure warnings. I disabled the lane departure warnings. Its pretty accurate and it will beep every time you change lanes. The smartphone link works well with some very irritating bugs. I have experienced a few connection problems but not bad.I love sending a location from my smartphone to the gps works great! The weather and weather work really good too. Of course its a extra 20 bucks for the service. Now PhotoLive is a whole new story. This does not work at all which is really irritating! you pay a extra 5.99 for this. you can check traffic cams on your route as you drive. The problem is when you Add photolive to your map it will tell you there are no cameras on your route? even though you drive by 10 of them? Garmin email support was terrible.trying to tell me it was a Bluetooth pairing problem? It is not it is a software issue that has not been fixed for a month and a half? They finally did tell me it was being worked on. But so far its still useless. Another problem I have with Photolive is your limited as to how many cameras you can enter on your phone and gps unit itself??? If this is working off my smartphone why would I have to enter cameras at all??? Doesn't make sense? Oh and by the way its still shots not live video.the stills refresh pretty quickly. They really need this taken care of. It is simple to transfer videos and update the unit to a computer After the issues with photolive and realizing how nice the camera and screen on this unit are I went back to BestBuy and purchased the extended warranty. Oh and the battery life is so so. maybe a hour?. I'm sure I am forgetting a few things but all in all I like this gps.work out the bugs please. This should be capable of doing more than it does. Oh and the camera records MP4.

I love this new GPS, with it's lane departure warning, and front collision warning, it makes driving enjoyable. Plus the dashcam gives a high resolution recording of my driving experience. It is detailed with speed, location and time. The new magnetic mount makes it easy to remove when I park the car... Wouldn't want it stolen.. Has happened to me in the past. Only negative is that when I use my beanbag dash mount the video has a lot of dashboard on the bottom, probably would be better to mount on the windshield. and the camera lens moves horizontally so the gps can be facing me while recording correctly.

This my first Garmin GPS and I love it. I've owned two Magellan units before, but what sold it for me was having a camera and the driving safety features. Lane departure and front collision warning work well. Plus, the magnetic mount makes it super easy to disconnect the unit for storage. Garmin really thought this one out, giving consumers great features and ease of use. Hopefully, Garmin will modify how the NUVICAM records video, making each session a single file rather than splicing it into 2-minute clips. The only real negative is battery life.

After using a TomTom for quite some time, and before that a Navigon, I decided to switch GPS after TomTom switch their method of receiving traffic, from subscription based HD traffic, to HD traffic being dependent on being paired with a smartphone. Traffic is the single-most function I depend on in a GPS since I travel regularly with work, from state to state, starting on Long Island and mostly through the tri-state area. I thought incorrectly that this GPS was the way to go, and liked the idea of an integrated dash cam. Unfortunately, this GPS is dependent on the power/cable or traffic receiver, and to my surprise - HD traffic also through app pairing of your smartphone at a one time $20 fee. Wasn't happy about that, but less so because the Bluetooth connection with the app and device is so unreliable, doesn't always autoconnect, and gets dropped frequently. The dash cam works great, and maps are nicer and more detailed than TomTom, but in my opinion nothing HD about traffic - and rerouting, is not great. ETA is very off too- which is a huge deal in a GPS. On my first 49min journey to work, my TomTom rerouted me with 12mins of delays - the best this device could do was 33mins - giving a 38min difference on TOA- not acceptable. The TomTom was accurate in arrival time, and also gives detail of what delays are - left lane closed, slow traffic, accident, etc - It once even told me it was a slow moving maintenance vehicle, which was a truck trimming hedges on the parkway. Garmin - you need to do much better with traffic. The other thing that I hate, is given the large screen, the status bar you can only have either time of arrival, time duration, distance, etc , etc at once - Tomtom has 3 options displayed at once. Garmin you need to update this -there is tons of room on display. I shouldn't have to pick through the gps to get these separately. Yet you feel the need for an odometer, etc - stuff any basic car should have. Also traffic, up ahead bar is too wide, and instead you have room for narrower bars on each side, eg traffic on right and "up ahead" on left, so the larger screen is at least utilized. The traffic cams would have been a nice feature, if they didn't take forever to load up- if they do at all. The collision warning and lane departure warning do seem to work well, and is a nice feature. This could have been an awesome GPS, had it utilized the larger screen to give more information, but Gamins traffic also seems much inferior to TomTom's so now all I'm left with is a clunky GPS that is great in theory, but so under-utilized in practice - and for me has missed the mark entirely. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to return it, and get a Go600 from TomTom, and probably a standalone dash cam, and probably all for a little less $$. At least I know I will be able to depend on accurate traffic, and have an accurate ETA, with trip duration info at the same time. So disappointed in this device - Garmin could have done much better in the execution here.

I have been using the Garmin GPS since 1997. This is my 12th GPS unit from Garmin. The dash cam video quality is excellent and it stamps the GPS coordinates, time and speed on the video. There is a separate MicroSD card slot for video and it accepts a 64 GB MicroSD card . The other MicroSD card is to expand the GPS memory. Mounting and dismounting the unit is simple with the magnetic mount and one does not have to disconnect the power cable as it is connected to the receptacle for the Garmin. My one complaint on the design is the DashCam camera is mounted on the left side in the middle. I wish Garmin had mounted it on the top on the left side. This would have allowed for more flexibility in different car models as far as the viewing angle for capturing video. The other issue is the battery has a very small capacity and the unit needs to be powered all the time. Running the unit on battery will provide 15-30 minutes of power. So, it is meant to be installed in the car all the time. There is wireless capability to install a Garmin rear view camera. I did get one of these and will install it later. Previous model I had with rear view camera did an adequate job. The lane alert and vehicle proximity alerts are a welcome design and work (one reason for purchase as I drive a lot). It will alert you with an audible sound warning. The glass screen is beautiful and functional. Has not bothered me yet with glare/reflection issues. But, it is too early and the sun had not shone much during my recent travels. The unit is big and I chose to mount it on the dash board with second party mounting accessories. The vacuum windshield mount is large and should hold the unit well, but it will obscure a part of windscreen and in some states, it is illegal to mount accessories on the windshield. I have chosen not to use it. I would recommend this product to anyone driving and it will provide video evidence it you are involved in an accident. That is another reason for me to purchase it.

This GPS is amazing. Some may think that the additional features are not worth the premium price tag, but this is not the case for me. I used to use my iPhone for navigation, but decided I wanted a dedicated device. This GPS is 100 times better than using my iPhone. 1. Hands-free voice commands (just like using Siri; maybe even easier) 2. 6" touchscreen display 3. Magnetic charging mount 4. Built-in dash camera I recently bought a car that had the option to upgrade to navigation through my car's stereo, for an additional $750. It also had the options of forward collision and lane departure warnings for an additional $1,200. Last night I was driving home in the rain. The street lights were reflecting the water making it hard for me to see the lines on the road. This GPS alerted me every time I drifted outside my lane. I also really like the voice guidance features that notify me well in advance. "In one-quarter mile turn left at the traffic light, Turn left at the traffic light".

I feel this is the best GPS unit yet (at least out of the 5 I've bought through the years). Good size screen, automatically notifies you of traffic along your programmed route (via a nice voice, not just a screen alert), more options available when adding another stop to your existing route, love the fact it has a camera that records what is in front. The video input allows the unit to notify you of lane wandering and offers frontal collision avoidance (if selected). I've turned the lane wandering off as it seems just a bit too sensitive for me (or I didn't have the camera properly aligned). I love how easy it is to disconnect from the mount. Very happy, very pleased with my unit. I love having a stand alone GPS unit which allows my phone to be 'just a phone' while I'm on the road.

We paid more for this unit primarily because of the built in camera. In this day and age, it's good to have a record of what's going on while driving and proof in the event there is an incident. The unit is easy to use- very intuitive. A huge upgrade to my 8 year old Garmin

This GPS has a very large screen that is easy to see in any location. It has a great camera for automatic recording of the trip, and documentation of any events if needed. I like the alerts for crossing the lane line over the speed of 30 mph, and for potential collisions identified by the camera.

I bought this GPS because I need to upgrade my old one that I have for more than 5yrs old and getting ready for my Labor Day Trip. I love the Camera, Line Changing Asst, Real Time Traffic that will route you to other road. The only problem is to update the Lifetime Map, I've tried more than One Week and still not successful to update it. I had to exchange it just to figure out that there's nothing wrong with GPS, only the App. I Uninstall the Garmin Express and it's only took me less than an hour to update it. You have to remember, it's an advance Map and need extra SD Card to support it. Overall...I love this GPS! I'm always know that Garmin is always the Best GPS!

I did my homework and I wanted to buy something that would get me to and from! I recently took on a part time driver job knowing that I TOTALLY STINK with driving directions! Since getting this unit it has made me get my customers their products MUCH more efficiently! About 90 percent of the time it will take me exactly to the customers door. The camera feature that shows the street views really does take a lot of work out of trying to read house numbers when it activates properly! Loving the bright display, easy to read interface. I also purchased an optional bc 30 camera to go along with the Nuvicam and it really gives me peace of mind! I also love how since I'm able to make DRAMATICALLY fewer U-turns my mileage while working has gone down considerably! IF you need the nuvicam's camera function (which does help a lot) it's a great deal however, if you don't need the camera in the front then go with the Garmin Nuvi 2689LMT it's basically the same unit just doesn't have the front facing camera of the nuvicam and it's about 130.00 cheaper at 269.99 normal price compared with the 399.99 of the Nuvicam. Happy hunting!

Pro: Nice size screen, voice command, tells u when u cross the line or about to rear end someone, dash cam is good. Con: This gps must be on the charger. Fully charged you only get maybe 10 min. With it. So if you want to take it in a hotel to view attraction you better do it fast. Also the mount is a bit aqward. We have taken this on a road trip and were very happy with it. We were in a large confusing city.It got us everywhere without issue.

I recently purchased this Garmin to replace an aging TomTom gps that I have used for years. I was worried about adapting to the new GPS but it was way easier than I could have imagined. The size is great for me as I need cheaters, but don't always wear them while driving. The dashcam feature is also a plus as I use it for work to take video of roadways our company will be using during a construction process. The video is pretty good. The side to side and front crash warning is a nice feature that I wasn't aware of when I purchased the gps.

Traffic with Garmin Live Services doesn't work!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Garmin Nuvicam GPS works normally as a GPS, however it connects to my iPhone 6 and a minute later disconnects. Pop-up screens cover the GPS and must be touched to clear the screen and see the GPS. Hopefully, one or both of the images I have tried to upload will show below. The video cam is cool, but of limited value. It does work well. The forward collision and lane departure warnings are slow and of limited value. Smartlink connectivity (the Garmin smartphone App) is buggy. Sending addresses from the phone to the GPS is a very nice feature, but it doesn't work about half of the time. The live traffic from the smartphone connects and then disconnects, and in the end I have no idea if I am ever connected. The Nivicam GPS integration with the Smartlink app needs a lot of work. Does Garmin know this? Yes. I called them in early August, but nothing has improved.

I am sorry to hear about the troubles you’ve had regarding the nüviCam LMTHD. I would like to take this moment to offer some troubleshooting guidance.

If the Smartphone Link App has been running in the background for a few days, and it has not connected to a device, the phone and device may not connect. When this happens, you’ll want to force close the app, turn your Bluetooth off, then back on, relaunch the app before reconnecting.

It is recommended to check for updates every 3-4 months to ensure the device has the latest system software. To check for updates Download and install Garmin Express http://software.garmin.com/en-US/express.html

If the issue with the Garmin Smartphone Link app persists, we always look forward to hearing from our customers. We can offer further technical support; please contact our Customer Service team at http://www.garmin.com/support

The dash cam on this.....great! It has speed, coordinates, and also a decent wide view. The notifications do get annoying at times even though you ARE in the lane and not going over the lines and even tho you're not even close to the next car in front of you. The GPS, well it does require some fine tuning. It will take me to a designation 1 way but when you return, it will take you another way. Garmin needs to address that in their coding and logic in the program. The voice recognition does need some fine tuning as well. I have this mounted in my windshield close to the bottom near the dash. You will literally have to yell/speak up and definitely have to turn down the radio to talk to it. Word capturing, is off so you're going to get frustrated with it so don't even bother. Keep in mind this is in a 2008 Nissan Altima so the dash speakers will throw off the VOICE COMMAND. You do have the option to have a backup camera installed to it, but it's proprietary only to the Garmin Wireless BC130. The only con I have is have to be the price....$400 for a navigation and dash cam with optional back up camera. I wish I had purchased a stereo with navigation then purchase the backup camera and dash cam desperately.

I've been looking for a dash cam for a long time. I put a lot of value in the reviews and most dash cams don't have a great rating. I already had the Garman GPS this cam was added to and liked it really well. Now both in one with good reviews. It was time to buy one. The only reason I would not give it a 5 plus is the location of the camera. It is on the left side witch makes it a little hard to center the image in the screen. When mounted on the left side of the windshield. It picks up the windshield pillow on the left bottom witch cuts off a little area from the view If mounted in the center of the windshield it would be OK however if the camera was on the right side of the dash cam it would be much better. The one thing I was not sure of before I purchased it was could I choose between the dash cam or the map view if t wanted to. Well I can and it records in both modes. The camera is good quality both in daylight and night driving. And I love the magnetic mount. It is so easy to remove and take with you so you don't have to leave it in the car. It is an easy 5 star.
